Thank you so much for including Through the Eyes of Dinosaurs in the video (I'm the director), it's great to see that people are excited for it and that it's getting some attention. Even if not much has been revealed yet and progress seems slow I promise that me and my team are hard at work and we're extremely passionate and dedicated to creating something truly special. There's a lot going on behind the scenes that hasn't been revealed yet and I can't wait until we can show more.

"Life in a primeval forest is filled with endless days of boredom." Sure, but why would I want to PLAY that? Saurian should have been a documentary, the "we want it to be as accurate and naturalistic as possible" approach does not work for the interactive nature of video games. It's just becoming that most dreaded of video game genres, a "walking simulator".
That is completely fair; I fully acknowledge that I'm probably a relative outlier in this regard because the idea of that is pretty much exactly my speed (pun intended). My real life is hectic enough. Also, oh shoot, it's the Raptor himself!

@@firegator6853 You say Accuracy is not the top thing they have to do being a game, yet the biggest and most common complaint I've heard about Saurian is that it has no gameplay to speak of and its dinosaur accuracy is all it has going for it, so, nothing you just said holds weight.

There is only so much we can do in regards to "species" hell that term is still in debate. Additionally in terms of paleontology, it's still controversial in regards to some specimen even being legitmate "species". Some specimens may not be a completely different species in respected context. They could be juveniles. Additionally, God Saurian is boring. I get it funding is low. But frankly dinosaur survival games are very boring. Please don't lie to yourself at how " engaging" this game is. As evident by the isle. I get it, you want a dinosaur simulator, where things get "realistic". Their is just not that much intrest in regarding some dinosaur games. Remember Mesozoica?
Re: species, I'm fully aware of how complex the question of taxonomy is at the species level (never mind genus, which doesn't even have a universal working definition, which is why I don't really fuss much about the decisions _Prehistoric Kingdom_ makes in lumping some taxa). But for reasons I explained in-video, I think there's something nice about the notion of showing off dinosaur diversity in the way _Prehistoric Kingdom_ embraces and highlights its species concept. Re: _Saurian,_ this is just my own personal list, and I am fully ready to admit that it's probably not the most popular choice even within the small genre of be-the-dino games that've been out there in the last few years. But I know myself; my all-time favorite video/computer game growing up was _Microsoft Flight Simulator X_ and I particularly liked doing those hours-long flights where you just keep a plane pointed in a single direction for most of it; every once in a while you'd get a directive from the local air traffic control station to change course or avoid a nearby plane. So yeah, my ideal vision of video game escapism is to just vibe in the environment, and _Saurian_ happens to look like the best option for that want in this niche within a niche.
@@Adasaur250 I still standby Saurian is dead and a failed game no matter how much I try to be optimistic about it, I'm sorry the flaws outweigh it too much. Additionally when it comes to dinosaur survival games, their is only so much "fun" you can have. Realism in context is irrelevant.
@@elbashar7589 I respect your perspective, but I wouldn't consider it a dead game considering that it's still actively in development. It's not _Mesozoica_ and _Dinosaur Battlegrounds,_ both of which are categorically dead and gone. Again, "fun" depends on the audience to an extent. All of the more naturalistic dinosaur/creature survival games are pretty niche sub-genres, so I think judging them is probably gonna come down to if you just enjoy those types of games in the first place. Like I said, something like _Flight Simulator X_ has its dedicated audience; I mean, the fact that there were ten iterations of a game where you point a plane in a single direction for hours should speak to that.
@@Adasaur250 However the case is irrelevant when in arguing over the fact just because something has a "niche" audience doesn't necessarily make the game any good. Going back to my previous point, you can only do so much of these types of games till they get boring. The content in these types of games are lackluster by defenition. This isn't my perspective alone, but many others as well. Sure you cite certain games that may seem boring to certain audiences when they have their own audiences. In this case, Microsoft flight simulator. The the thing is, Flight Simulator is more of a flight show case mod, where people play categorically for half an hour or two then log off. Arguing a games Hallow nature won't excuse it's lack of content or generally, inheritable flawed design as a game.
I'm not saying it's not a majority opinion -- I think I conceded that multiple times at this point -- I'm just stating why I at least think it holds some potential for my own enjoyment of it, and if there's a handful of other people who are unfamiliar with it and end up finding it (or any of the things I mentioned) to their liking for those reasons, then so be it. Plus, the list of paleomedia of the more edutainment variety, which was more or less the focus of the video is also just kinda small, so it's on the list in part by default.
Why are all these documentaries so obsessed with showing dinosaurs in winter plumage and shit There would have been very limited if any areas snowy enough to cause this to evolve
Probably because it's a cool new(ish) notion that isn't widely known to the general public, the idea that dinosaurs lived in the poles. I know there's been some criticism regarding exactly how cold and snowy paleoenvironments like the Prince Creek Formation were at the time, but according to Dr. Darren Naish in a recent tweet, the _Prehistoric Planet_ team did work with a paleoclimatologist to address this idea -- twitter.com/TetZoo/status/1510715571708514308 -- so the depiction isn't without some scientific merit.
@@Adasaur250 alright I can accept that Prince Creek almost on the Arctic Ocean at that time was cool temperate- but I don’t think such a small area would have caused evolution of snowy morphs given such a small corner of population would have occupied that region- and the large herbivores may not have been year round residents.
Well there is increasing evidence that at least the Prince Creek dinosaurs weren't actually migrating from the area, contrary to depictions from the early 2010s. Tooth isotope studies, nests and eggs, and even the presumed months-long incubation periods of ornithischians in particular all seem to point to the conclusion that they toughed it out all year. For what it's worth, at least in _Prehistoric Planet_ we see that the _Pachyrhinosaurus_ aren't really wooly at all, though they do have some sort of non-scaly integument. We'll likely have to wait for a clearer shot and/or the episode to be released to get the fuller idea of how this'll be conveyed.

@@Adasaur250 actually yeah I just happened across that paper that showed they were nesting up there.
