I'll bet the gunsmiths at Harper's Ferry who made that never could have imagined that somebody would be hunting with it in Hungary nigh on 2 centuries later.
I appriciate the respect you show for your game and the nature surrounding it. It is so often in my area that hunting is only done for some form of bizarre bloodlust, sometimes leaving the carcass in the forest where it was shot. Im glad you do it as it is meant to be.
Wonderful video! As a smoothbore flintlock hunter here in america, I know hunting with these guns is no easy task, so congratulations on your success! I really enjoyed watching the cook up at the end!
Thank you for sharing your wild boar hunt with us. I am always amazed at the Hungarian tradition of showing respect to the fallen game. Thank you for sharing that part. You are truly the “ Gentleman Hungarian Hunter”.
I have still yet to shoot my M1819. Stamped 1838! But here in the States, Pennsylvania has a “historic” black powder rifle season for hunting. Only flintlock allowed. No modern black powder rifles, not sure if historic percussion caps are allowed. If I ever find my way to Hungary though, I’ll be sure to bring my m1819 for a hunt then!
No percussions in the after Christmas flintlock season. Even if your Hall was a flintlock, it wouldn't be legal as it's a breechloader. In a firearms deer season, you'd be good to go.
@@marksellers4875 that’s good to know! Thank you for clarifying. I had only heard of it once and the person that put me onto it wasn’t 100% sure about all the regulations surrounding it. My Hall is still a flintlock though. As much confidence as I have in it, first trigger pull is going to be with that rifle ratchet strapped down to a lead sled and a string tied to the trigger with a safe distance.lol.
@colemorgan8567 I hear ya! Wisdom is proved right by her actions, as it is written. No sense in taking chances. We're only issued one set of eyes and fingers...
@SB-qm5wg The Hall has a very distinctive appearance, and believe me,Pennsylvania Game Wardens know what to look for. I've been an HTE ( Hunter Trapper Educator) for 12 years and have worked with several of them.
Very nice hunt ! I just sighted in my Hawken rifle yesterday for a deer hunt in a few week even though I can use a modern muzzleloader I prefer a traditional gun !
It's currently whitetail deer season here in Michigan, and we've had odd weather so far. Typically, we have snow the first week of firearm season, but instead, it rained for almost 2 weeks. It's finally getting cold now, so maybe we'll get snow by the time muzzle loading season comes around. I did harvest an old doe from a corn field a few days ago, so we'll be eating Venison Jerky and sherpards pie this winter. Thanks for sharing your hunts. You have a beautiful country. 👍
Always looking forward to the hunting videos the most, as I find them both super interesting and also very relaxing. The atmosphere is just perfectly set by the way you handle the camera and your way of presenting it. On top of that your absolute respect for the game. Thank you for the content! Wish you and your family health and happiness + of course good hunting! Greetings from Germany
As an American this was awesome to watch! Never seen someone actually hunt with a vintage muzzleloader before! And then showing how it’s done after the kill and all the way to your kitchen, in the stove, then on a plate! Awesome content! I enjoyed this a lot! Well done!
There was also the Ferguson rifle the British sort-of used in the American Revolutionary War (I say "sort-of" since while they definitely were used, there were only ever about 200 made, and they didn't really have any effect on the course of the war), and who knows how many other less well-known designs.
Thou shalt not covet... Wonderful hunt in beautiful country. Never saw liver sliced like that. Gotta try it. Here in Pennsylvania, we like liver ( beef)' and onions with gravy. Soooo good! Keep yer back green, yer nose to the wind and yer powder dry! Grace and peace to you and yours!
Beautiful rifle, good shooting and a great video. I really appreciate the respect for the game, which is a rapidly disappearing principle among many hunters in the U.S. I caught the reference to the Earth Wind and Fire song.👍
totally impossible at my Hunting place, to hunt Boars during the day, very Nice Video, also nice to see , that the Hungarian Hunters have same traditions like German Hunter ( Last bite ++)

I'm surprised that mussle loading hunting was ever not legal in Hungary. Here it's technically "less illegal" because some places only let you hunt with one or a shotgun.
Great video! My wife is Ukrainian and serves liver almost exactly the same way for family meals. If we have guests she fries it up the same way then adds it to the blender with some milk or cream and makes a pâté to serve on bread. Either way my favorite part of wild game.

Hunting with black powder (pure traditional) has a magical moment in itself.
Always respectful, elegant and informative. These hunting episodes you produce are some of the finest viewing on this platform.

I use a matchlock & fusil de chasse myself, much respect.
My father used to make deer liver and onions much the same way. Maybe that's because his father was a first generation Hungarian.
I love how much you appreciate the game that you're hunting and how seriously you conduct yourself.

Thanks so much for bringing us along on this memorable hunting trip! Growing up, the first part of the deer we ate was always the liver, with onions.

Rn it is bow hunting season in central new york were i currently hunt. Black powder starts next month here.
Can you just go to the forest in Hungary and hunt or do you need a permit from land owner/government? Or is it all arranged trough a hunting guide?
You need a permit. This will be covered in a future video.

It is in some ways more humane than farmed animals as the boar get to live a full and fulfilling life until they are hunted unlike on factory farms.
