I'm really excited abou the pets but I am disappointed to not have a pet option if you don't spend real money. Similarily, I am disappointed in the premium outfits. All of the outfits are wonderful and look wonderful but $60 - $70 real world money is too much for the premium outfits, especially when I only want 1 item from 1 outfit in the set.
Isn't it only that much if you want all variations of one outfit? I think it's around 20€ for one outfit with all 3 color variants, which isn't too bad for nowadays standards. I wish there was an option to craft your own cosmetics, though (obviously not the cash shop ones). I would definitely be really happy about a new profession for that, so that Jel's shop isn't only the cash shop that you can open from anywhere anyway.

@@LylyNynx It is actually only 20 euros for 1 outfit in 3 colors, not the bundle of 3 variations of the outfit with 9 in total colors (3 each) so if you like one specific outfit in one color it is only 20 euros (I assume 20 dollars for you) edit: nvm I saw you are saying the same thing, I misread XD
The cats look cute but I don't know what to think of the "purchase something (or a lot) to get them" system.... I guess we'll have to see where they'll go with that in the future. Anyways I hope we will get pets one day that are useful, for example a pet that collects your loot when your on the hunt and stuff. That would be super sweet. I'm a bit sad that they reduced the spawn rate of beach items. I feel like I've already found less shells and oysters over the last couple days.

@@fuzzypumpkin7743 I spent 10 bucks last night and got an outfit and a cat....with coins left over towards my next purchase. The thing is neither of those things are essential to the game. There are cute outfits for free and the cat doesn't do anything but follow you around and half the time I forgot it was even there because you don't really see it while you're running around. It would be nice if they would implement a free way to obtain a pet at some point, maybe a long quest line that you have to go through... But they have been working on this game for years with a team that needs to be paid, bills that need to be paid etc. So I see nothing wrong with putting something out there to make money especially when they are giving us a fun game to play for free. If the cats were something you needed to progress in the game and not just a cute little addon then I could see being upset about it
I love that the pets follow you, but I’m hoping that future patches can allow multiple pets roam around your plot because I want Island and Nocturnal (and all of them but those specifically) to be besties with me and with each other 😂
Pets are still really new, so I'm sure they'll add more features later! I'm excited for bi weekly updates even if they are smaller, that's not very long till something else new
new feature so ya obviously a lot will change in future patches but It would be nice to have multiple pets and you can pick the ones you want to stay wondering around at home and pick the one you want to travel with you.

It's literally the only way the team makes any profit from this game. It's not manipulative in the slightest - you know exactly what you're getting and nobody's telling you you have to buy it lmao
I mostly play fps games and i never thought I would play THIS game but palia is sooo addictive and I can't stop playing it, it is reaching other audiences than cozy community i hope they keep bringing these updates 🐱
While I'm excited for pets but seeing them being cash shop only has kind of turned me off of the game and Now i kind of just want to wait and see how they do the game when the whole thing comes out on the switch :c

I know they need to make money, but I feel like they're being a little too greedy with their cash shop stuff honestly. It kinda of turns me off to the whole game. I like what they're adding... but not how they're adding it. I'm just going to wait and see how it goes.
Yeah, the stuff is way too expensive just for "cosmetic"... Sadly there are already ppl throwing money at them so... If this is their way of milking money from players, then it's a no-no for me. I'd rather pay a montly subscription and have all the content unlocked than this micro-milking.... Disappointed..

Fixed the ability to expand storage beyond the intended limits through the use of multiple housing plots. The limit of eight chests should extend across all plots. -> Too bad this was a bug. Now we have far too little storage again.
IMO they should give a free 'normal looking' pet through a quest while locking the exclusive ones behind paywall, basically we should be able to get the basic of every feature they give behind paywall. Yes, i do understand that they need to make money and that this is just purely cosmetic item with no function whatsoever, but I feel that this is too much for people who are less fortunate, esp to people who are much more impulsive with this kind of thing (a child was caught thieving their parent's money to buy a game's items, school bullies who rob student's important school money just to buy game's cash) since I know there are a lot of children who play this game and don't have that much money to spend.

I'm still waiting on it to come to switch to play, but it looks like a great game so far. I love the pet designs and wonder if you can have multiple run around at one time. I'm not a fan of them having to be purchased in the shop though, it already seems pricey
kind of bummed to see that pretty much all good spots for farming gatherables to sell for gold have been reduced, ah well guess it was fun while it lasted, going to have to find some other sources of making gold fast. But pets though cool although i would like if we could find some in the wild to tame and not just a cash shop option. I hope we get animal husbandry soon though, would love me a cow on my land so i don't have to run every time to the shop to get milk and cheese. One can hope...

You cannot get this through buying the 1,000 + 425 coin options (the lowest two options), so what they FORCE you to do is buy the 2,050 coin option, thus making you spend 20 dollars on a SINGLE outfit. The bundles are roughly 2,549 coins, but you can’t get that without spending 19.99 for 2,050 and then another 10.00 for the 1,000, because remember the 425 for 5$ isn’t enough. It’s a TOXIC shop.

But you could get one outfit for 850 palia coins and buy the 1.000 coins for 10 dollars. Everyone seems to forget you can buy individual outfits and not just bundles. Not every outfit is 20/30 dollars as many say. Could the premium shop be better? Yes. But it’s FAR from the worst. When the items in the shop are only cosmetics I don’t mind too much. Many games you get huge advantages in your game play for buying stuff, making you better then everyone that don’t have the money to spend. I’ve stopped playing games because it got so hard to aquire stuff to increase storage you kind of had to pay every time your storage got full, it completely stopped the game play in every way. Yeah I want the money based things to stay strictly cosmetic, but I wonder if they will ever open up/make adjustments to their economy to make the premium currency tradeable between players. It's something I really like about Warframes economy. If I don't have real world cash at the time to spend, I can just grind something in game to trade for the currency I need. I'm not sure if Palia could build an economy to support a system like that though.

How about they increase the spawn rate or locations of Palium? :P I've played for over 50 hours and have aquired 3 palium ores.. With 25/people per server everyone camping the few spots there is. Sad. 😢
Im so glad with the smoke bomb fix. Even though I play a lot of fast paced games where I have to aim well, I still got frustrated by missing a bug 3 times in a row and would just give up lol
I love the new patch and my little Sandy pet. The new lighting I actually like. Not so dark, easier to see & hunt at night. The new furniture looks great. Can't wait to see the new NPCs and get new quests. I'm gonna have to pick up the Builder Bundle soon. Really cool. I have the Trailblazer and love it.
I get that the premium store is "the only monetized aspect" but the pushing of it soon soon in the beta and having pets only available if you put down real money has really soured me. I'm totally fine with premium for cosmetics, not features.
i had already been considering buying something from the premium store to support the game, but hadnt quite been ready to commit....however now there are cute pokemon kitties i suddenly find myself more willing to break out the credit card XD they got me!

@@LylyNynx Saying what? The truth? You can only get pets if you pay, therefore they are locked behind a paywall. Same for the outfits, but the difference is that the outfits actually are just cosmetic. The pets are animated little buddies. I'd feel a lot less irritated about it if they had a free version as well. Think Disney Dreamlight Valley. Through gameplay, you can get pets that do the same thing these do: they follow you around. But you can pay to get "cooler" versions.

did they fixed the bug where you get stuck on talking with a character because i got stuck talking with Tish & the guy who sell clothing and would have to close my game and reopen it.

I don't think the pets should be paid for or at least have regular ones you can buy with in-game money and some special ones in the premium store. Some of us don't have random money for costumes in a game. I've got 4 kids to feed 🤣
Remember the devs also have kids to feed and need to make money somehow from a game that is free to play for all. They need to have some unique and fun items in the premium shop. If everyone got the outfit/pets but you just payed for different colors in the premium shop I can’t see how that would make them much money. At least they don’t paywall actual game play stuff and they don’t let players buy things that gives big advantages in game. 😊

Pets are locked behind the cash shop. Thats the first Red Flag already. Announcing a big Feature like Pets and then locking it behind a paywall like a DLC is a no go. I played nearly all mmorpgs before, some very high ranked, some very casually. They all had one thing in common, these paywalls were the reason they started dying.
i dare to disagree... so far the cosmetic shop was the only way for the developers to make some money in return and i count pets in that category, too. We do get an awesome game to experience for free, so i do not mind the "paywall" sticked to pets at all.
I wish they would do DLC or expansion bundles like what Fire Emblem Three houses did with their content. I would feel better with that than buying coins or whatever they are called. But this is technically an MMO. And they do need the money.
The things they need to do (imo) is have some for everyone and then have some exclusive for purchase. Like have the standard be a quest reward and the other three be buy only. Also buying 3k coins is so expensive. I got excited about pets when I saw it in the title but now just bummed. I get people who is like "but they need to make the money". Yes they do but they would make more money if they lowered the prices because more people would buy. I would buy a cute per for a few dollars but not the horrible amount 3k coins is.

yeah they easily could have made the sand cat to be earned through a quest and the other 3 pets through premium shop. The game honestly doesn't offer that much content for them to lock the first "real" content the community wished for behind a paywall.
When you said lower spec players I almost shed a tear.. my gpu started dying and I went from running the game on epic settings to not be able to play at all
I would rather put down $60-$70 dollars for this whole game than pay for everything individually if I wanted it tbh. But it’s free so can’t complain too much. Maybe with the Switch release, there might be some sort of pass or individual DLC content packages.
I am so excited and pleased with the game so far as well as with this update. However the lack of pets ive seen in game really goes to show how well that went over 😅 . Kind of a huge let down tbh. Minimum 5 dollars just for something very small to follow you with 0 interactions.
Well, that’s kind of the point. The devs don’t want things in the premium shop that affects the game play. Everything that gives any advantage in game play will be free, that’s a good thing. So the pets are basically just cosmetics that people can buy if they want to support the devs. In my server I’ve seen tons of pets.
I'm not excited at all. The pets are behind paywall. So much for only having cosmetics behind a paywall. And it's really hard to get gold in the game as it is and they're making it harder and harder. There were so little sernuks and chappaas and items to be foraged and now there's even less. The place feels so empty. At this rate it's gonna take me 100 000 years to get anywhere in this game. I also don't like that things don't have a steady price but keep increasing ridiculously every time you buy one. Like the crafting station permits, gardening soils, writs, backpack space etc. Like 50 000 for a few rows of inventory. Everything's mad expensive in this game(including real money purchases) and you barely get gold. Even treasure chests give you 5 gold. It's just a grind at this point and I'm finding myself bored with the game.
$50 for a cosmetic cat.....and $50 to buy the outfits....let that sink in a moment people......FIFTY.....DOLLARS....for nothing but eye candy!.....you can buy a whole new game for that!......sure hope kids don't get to purchasing like crazy. @@LylyNynx $50 for whole bundle without the discount, you know they’ll remove it eventually. $35 at best for 1 outfit….THIRTY FIVE!!!….and not 1 bundle of coins covers it, you have to by a couple to cover the total. A Soothsayer outfit for example…total 2550 coins….$19.99 for only 2050 coins…a cheap $4.99 bundle of 424 coins STILL isn’t enough so you are forced to pay $9.99 for extra 1000 coins. But the Soothsayer, you have 500 coins spare that once again gets you NOTHING unless you buy more!

Well done video, but this patch has quite literally killed the cozy vibe for me. Barren world makes it stressful to complete quests and its simply frustrating trying to find ingredients for cooking now. The sense of community has kinda been nuked into oblivion by them decreasing spawn rates of everything. People argue over deers much more often now, and it just feels like I'm running around an empty world set on 1000% brightness. Storage issues have gotten much worse, and it seems thats also being glossed over. A little sad about this patch, as I very much enjoyed this game pre-patch. The pets are cute, and I do understand the pricing of items as its a free to play game. I won't be back until the brightness is fixed at least, fishing is the only saving grace of this whole game right now, but it's difficult to play without inducing a headache even on 0 brightness on my monitor.
I think the patch notes look pretty good. I just was on Reddit and people say it's ridiculous how pets cost 30$... But why do people always talk about the prices for all color variants? No one needs 4 cats in my opinion. I would never even think of getting all 4 color variations of the same pet. If you have the money and you want it, great. But if you don't have the money, then why complain about not getting the same pet 4 times, I don't understand it. I should really try to stay away from Reddit for a while, the amount of negativity I've seen in the last 3 days that actually worsened my mood is ridiculous.
Honestly some of the reviews just because of this one thing is ridiculous. Considering this is the only way they can make money from the game, it's obviously going to be fairly pricey, gross reviews imo
Its ridiculous because of the promise S6 gave with respect to the cash shop. I think you need to go away and learn about how cash shops in games work and what makes them so predatory.

Also people keep claiming that outfits are 60$, when they are 20$. Again, no person needs all 3 outfits. (You already get 3 color variations of one outfit for 20$, that is more than you get in most other games) But again, I agree that the cats should also be sold separately, not only be a "charge that much and get a pet". I also agree that the way they advertised the "bundles" was predatory, as you don't have to buy all 3 outfits for the price reduction to happen, since if you buy one of the outfits the others will always be reduced. And I definitely agree that one of the worst things about this shop is, that you have to buy more currency than any item costs. This is the biggest problem with Palia's store in my opinion.

I love palia, absolutely love it. BUT i refuse to play until they remove the predatory premium coin crap. Charge real life values for things, the coins exist ONLY to force predatory transactions, they serve no other purpose
TBH, I like that the pets are a BONUS and not its own thing that I would also have to buy alongside an outfit, I can get an outfit I want PLUS a cute cat, I LOVE cats so this is a WIN for me
yes. that's the same thing i said. It's great its a bonus. I thought about buying an outfit but would always talk myself out of it. The pet was a nice initiative.
I know everyone is upset about the prices but here's the thing: the game is free, and is created by a less known company who took a risk relying on community funding. You don't need to buy them if you don't want to, and the price of vanity items has been exceptionally high across all games, think of Genshin for example, one of the highest grossing games for add on payments, and they still have high prices. I personally think it's a good way of rewarding what are essentially donations 🤷🏼♀️
I'm sorry but that is not good enough. This is a huge studio with a huge budget. Why was such a large portion of this update cash shop items? There is a lot of content that needs adding first. Comparing this game to other terrible cash shops is not much use to anybody. If these are "donations" then I should be able to choose how much I donate.
I wish i could easily pay via paypal. I know thats an upcoming thing, but i dont own a credit card. Even i hate the system to pay for currency - not items themselve - but i would even buy them, especially to get all the pets
I really truly wish they would drop the fun bucks/ gems mechanics for the premium store, im all for supporting mmos financially, but considering how they wanted to be transparent with moneyization, this is the 101 way to distract from amount spent. I hope they reconsider later on if enogh people say something but I dont see it happening. Its a common way to get whale players (a few players who spend a lot). I much rather they just show how much irl money anything costs. Bt i didnt trust their transparency to begin with, just because they are less predatory than most online games. I like the game but keep your eyes peeled always.
I’d like to just remind everyone (devs included) that THIS IS IN BETA. We need to go back to the old days and stop acting like Beta = early access. The devs need to take the time and work on addressing all the negative feedback around the game and fix it to come back with a polished product. Or else they gonna have a No Man’s Sky/Cyberpunk happening with a mid game that died before it got a chance to develop into something decent.
Thank you for the great video Sarah I love the direction the game is going, and with such frequent updates I am hopeful that the game is going to turn into one of the best gaming experiences available. I also love the pets - however slightly dissapointed with them being locked behind a paywall, especially because I kinda consider them to be more of a new ‘feature’ rather than just a cosmetic item, I trust the team to listen to the feedback and provide some basic pets for free eventually though

I really don't understand the talks about the pets and premium outfits being "too expensive" or "not fair". This is still a MMO in Beta that is FREE TO PLAY, I am really strong on the free to play part - just like games like Sea of Thieves - PETS & COOLER GEAR/OUTFITS are to be bought with REAL MONEY so that the game can have funds. Make sense? It is not a PAY TO WIN game which is SO COOL. I don't really need the pet to play or an outfit to get further into the story. If you want to get them, sure, pay. If you think it is too expensive, I'm sorry but that does not mean you cannot play the game. Just go to any free to play game like Valorant or League of Legends - you get cosmetics as champions skins or gun skins that do not influence the gameplay bUT will make it "prettier" and that prices are as expensive. Now back to games like Sea of Thieves - besides the fact that is not free to play, the cosmetics are also even pricier than Palia's.

Frankly. I'm more disappointed than anything else. Too much real money for too little reward. All of them are nothing but variants in a very limited set offering no real diff. I may get ONE outfit because it did cost them money to make the game . But frankly I it's still a bit too grindy. Just give me a little more GOLD! I cannot even upgrade the sorry tools... And what's with the tool degradation? That's nothing but grind and not even the good kind of grind.
The cash shop is expensive as hell and the outfits are just unattractive. This game has been a huge disappointment. Travel is tedious and the glider is inefficient, can only go a short distance from a cliff jump. Housing furnishings are strictly hobbit hut looking. Character creation falls way short, hair looks like plastic baby doll hair. I was so excited for this game, and its a huge disappointment.

It depends on the ones you get. 1700 is about $20 for one outfit. If you buy all three it's basically buy 2 get the third free.

@@fuzzypumpkin7743 I spent 10 bucks last night and got an outfit and a cat....with coins left over towards my next purchase. The thing is neither of those things are essential to the game. There are cute outfits for free and the cat doesn't do anything but follow you around and half the time I forgot it was even there because you don't really see it while you're running around. It would be nice if they would implement a free way to obtain a pet at some point, maybe a long quest line that you have to go through... But they have been working on this game for years with a team that needs to be paid, bills that need to be paid etc. So I see nothing wrong with putting something out there to make money especially when they are giving us a fun game to play for free.
If the cats were something you needed to progress in the game and not just a cute little addon then I could see being upset about it
I love that the pets follow you, but I’m hoping that future patches can allow multiple pets roam around your plot because I want Island and Nocturnal (and all of them but those specifically) to be besties with me and with each other 😂

Pets are still really new, so I'm sure they'll add more features later! I'm excited for bi weekly updates even if they are smaller, that's not very long till something else new
new feature so ya obviously a lot will change in future patches but It would be nice to have multiple pets and you can pick the ones you want to stay wondering around at home and pick the one you want to travel with you.

It's literally the only way the team makes any profit from this game. It's not manipulative in the slightest - you know exactly what you're getting and nobody's telling you you have to buy it lmao
I mostly play fps games and i never thought I would play THIS game but palia is sooo addictive and I can't stop playing it, it is reaching other audiences than cozy community i hope they keep bringing these updates 🐱

Fixed the ability to expand storage beyond the intended limits through the use of multiple housing plots. The limit of eight chests should extend across all plots. -> Too bad this was a bug. Now we have far too little storage again.
yeah ran into this but found that for 25k you can buy from tish cashmachine bigger chest recipes or 100k for the largest
Have you upgraded to the copper chests? Even my hoarding heart couldn't fill this much storage. And there's an even larger chest after copper.
IMO they should give a free 'normal looking' pet through a quest while locking the exclusive ones behind paywall, basically we should be able to get the basic of every feature they give behind paywall.
Yes, i do understand that they need to make money and that this is just purely cosmetic item with no function whatsoever, but I feel that this is too much for people who are less fortunate, esp to people who are much more impulsive with this kind of thing (a child was caught thieving their parent's money to buy a game's items, school bullies who rob student's important school money just to buy game's cash) since I know there are a lot of children who play this game and don't have that much money to spend.

I'm still waiting on it to come to switch to play, but it looks like a great game so far. I love the pet designs and wonder if you can have multiple run around at one time. I'm not a fan of them having to be purchased in the shop though, it already seems pricey

kind of bummed to see that pretty much all good spots for farming gatherables to sell for gold have been reduced, ah well guess it was fun while it lasted, going to have to find some other sources of making gold fast. But pets though cool although i would like if we could find some in the wild to tame and not just a cash shop option. I hope we get animal husbandry soon though, would love me a cow on my land so i don't have to run every time to the shop to get milk and cheese. One can hope...

@@Strawberryfox26 It depends on what you get. Average cost is 1,700 coins. You cannot get this through buying the 1,000 + 425 coin options (the lowest two options), so what they FORCE you to do is buy the 2,050 coin option, thus making you spend 20 dollars on a SINGLE outfit.
The bundles are roughly 2,549 coins, but you can’t get that without spending 19.99 for 2,050 and then another 10.00 for the 1,000, because remember the 425 for 5$ isn’t enough.
It’s a TOXIC shop.

But you could get one outfit for 850 palia coins and buy the 1.000 coins for 10 dollars. Everyone seems to forget you can buy individual outfits and not just bundles. Not every outfit is 20/30 dollars as many say. Could the premium shop be better? Yes. But it’s FAR from the worst. When the items in the shop are only cosmetics I don’t mind too much. Many games you get huge advantages in your game play for buying stuff, making you better then everyone that don’t have the money to spend. I’ve stopped playing games because it got so hard to aquire stuff to increase storage you kind of had to pay every time your storage got full, it completely stopped the game play in every way. That’s extremely shady.
Giving you the option to buy a cute outfit/pets (that in no way affect game play) to support the devs is not toxic in my view- even though I agree the prices are quite high and the palia coins bundles have too few options.

Yeah I want the money based things to stay strictly cosmetic, but I wonder if they will ever open up/make adjustments to their economy to make the premium currency tradeable between players. It's something I really like about Warframes economy. If I don't have real world cash at the time to spend, I can just grind something in game to trade for the currency I need. I'm not sure if Palia could build an economy to support a system like that though.

Im so glad with the smoke bomb fix. Even though I play a lot of fast paced games where I have to aim well, I still got frustrated by missing a bug 3 times in a row and would just give up lol
I love the new patch and my little Sandy pet. The new lighting I actually like. Not so dark, easier to see & hunt at night.
The new furniture looks great. Can't wait to see the new NPCs and get new quests. I'm gonna have to pick up the Builder Bundle soon. Really cool. I have the Trailblazer and love it.
I get that the premium store is "the only monetized aspect" but the pushing of it soon soon in the beta and having pets only available if you put down real money has really soured me. I'm totally fine with premium for cosmetics, not features.
i had already been considering buying something from the premium store to support the game, but hadnt quite been ready to commit....however now there are cute pokemon kitties i suddenly find myself more willing to break out the credit card XD they got me!
Meanwhile I'm even less likely to now because the focus on their cash shop so early in beta shows their priorities.

It's not that I do not mind giving money, but one might as well just sell the game if that's all the makers want out of the game. it would make the customers much happier in the long run than making things too grindy and/or locked behind a high paywall.

Same for the outfits, but the difference is that the outfits actually are just cosmetic. The pets are animated little buddies. I'd feel a lot less irritated about it if they had a free version as well. Think Disney Dreamlight Valley. Through gameplay, you can get pets that do the same thing these do: they follow you around. But you can pay to get "cooler" versions.

I don't think the pets should be paid for or at least have regular ones you can buy with in-game money and some special ones in the premium store. Some of us don't have random money for costumes in a game. I've got 4 kids to feed 🤣
Remember the devs also have kids to feed and need to make money somehow from a game that is free to play for all. They need to have some unique and fun items in the premium shop. If everyone got the outfit/pets but you just payed for different colors in the premium shop I can’t see how that would make them much money.
At least they don’t paywall actual game play stuff and they don’t let players buy things that gives big advantages in game. 😊

Imagine if all the players had nothing but one very bare outfit so they all looked the same but if you just pay some money, you wont look so bad. still love the game, just feels like it could have been done better.

Cash shop gets priority.
Pets are locked behind the cash shop. Thats the first Red Flag already. Announcing a big Feature like Pets and then locking it behind a paywall like a DLC is a no go. I played nearly all mmorpgs before, some very high ranked, some very casually. They all had one thing in common, these paywalls were the reason they started dying.
i dare to disagree... so far the cosmetic shop was the only way for the developers to make some money in return and i count pets in that category, too.
We do get an awesome game to experience for free, so i do not mind the "paywall" sticked to pets at all.
I wish they would do DLC or expansion bundles like what Fire Emblem Three houses did with their content. I would feel better with that than buying coins or whatever they are called. But this is technically an MMO. And they do need the money.
The things they need to do (imo) is have some for everyone and then have some exclusive for purchase. Like have the standard be a quest reward and the other three be buy only. Also buying 3k coins is so expensive. I got excited about pets when I saw it in the title but now just bummed. I get people who is like "but they need to make the money". Yes they do but they would make more money if they lowered the prices because more people would buy. I would buy a cute per for a few dollars but not the horrible amount 3k coins is.

seems like a lot of things been broken, for me, movement keys wont work after opening an UI and only fixed by alt/tab game :(
I would rather put down $60-$70 dollars for this whole game than pay for everything individually if I wanted it tbh. But it’s free so can’t complain too much. Maybe with the Switch release, there might be some sort of pass or individual DLC content packages.
I am so excited and pleased with the game so far as well as with this update. However the lack of pets ive seen in game really goes to show how well that went over 😅 . Kind of a huge let down tbh. Minimum 5 dollars just for something very small to follow you with 0 interactions.
Well, that’s kind of the point. The devs don’t want things in the premium shop that affects the game play. Everything that gives any advantage in game play will be free, that’s a good thing.
So the pets are basically just cosmetics that people can buy if they want to support the devs.

I'm not excited at all. The pets are behind paywall. So much for only having cosmetics behind a paywall. And it's really hard to get gold in the game as it is and they're making it harder and harder. There were so little sernuks and chappaas and items to be foraged and now there's even less. The place feels so empty. At this rate it's gonna take me 100 000 years to get anywhere in this game. I also don't like that things don't have a steady price but keep increasing ridiculously every time you buy one. Like the crafting station permits, gardening soils, writs, backpack space etc. Like 50 000 for a few rows of inventory. Everything's mad expensive in this game(including real money purchases) and you barely get gold. Even treasure chests give you 5 gold. It's just a grind at this point and I'm finding myself bored with the game.

$35 at best for 1 outfit….THIRTY FIVE!!!….and not 1 bundle of coins covers it, you have to by a couple to cover the total.
A Soothsayer outfit for example…total 2550 coins….$19.99 for only 2050 coins…a cheap $4.99 bundle of 424 coins STILL isn’t enough so you are forced to pay $9.99 for extra 1000 coins. But the Soothsayer, you have 500 coins spare that once again gets you NOTHING unless you buy more!

Well done video, but this patch has quite literally killed the cozy vibe for me. Barren world makes it stressful to complete quests and its simply frustrating trying to find ingredients for cooking now. The sense of community has kinda been nuked into oblivion by them decreasing spawn rates of everything. People argue over deers much more often now, and it just feels like I'm running around an empty world set on 1000% brightness. Storage issues have gotten much worse, and it seems thats also being glossed over. A little sad about this patch, as I very much enjoyed this game pre-patch. The pets are cute, and I do understand the pricing of items as its a free to play game. I won't be back until the brightness is fixed at least, fishing is the only saving grace of this whole game right now, but it's difficult to play without inducing a headache even on 0 brightness on my monitor.
i rather have weapon skins... maybe more pets in the future would be nice.

I think the patch notes look pretty good. I just was on Reddit and people say it's ridiculous how pets cost 30$... But why do people always talk about the prices for all color variants? No one needs 4 cats in my opinion. I would never even think of getting all 4 color variations of the same pet. If you have the money and you want it, great. But if you don't have the money, then why complain about not getting the same pet 4 times, I don't understand it.
I should really try to stay away from Reddit for a while, the amount of negativity I've seen in the last 3 days that actually worsened my mood is ridiculous.
Honestly some of the reviews just because of this one thing is ridiculous. Considering this is the only way they can make money from the game, it's obviously going to be fairly pricey, gross reviews imo

I never said "omg the cash shop is amazing and everything is perfect". What I did defend is the prices themselves, as many games have those prices nowadays, and also that a pet doesn't cost 35$ as many people claim, but 5$. Also people keep claiming that outfits are 60$, when they are 20$. Again, no person needs all 3 outfits. (You already get 3 color variations of one outfit for 20$, that is more than you get in most other games)
But again, I agree that the cats should also be sold separately, not only be a "charge that much and get a pet".
I also agree that the way they advertised the "bundles" was predatory, as you don't have to buy all 3 outfits for the price reduction to happen, since if you buy one of the outfits the others will always be reduced.
And I definitely agree that one of the worst things about this shop is, that you have to buy more currency than any item costs. This is the biggest problem with Palia's store in my opinion.

I know everyone is upset about the prices but here's the thing: the game is free, and is created by a less known company who took a risk relying on community funding. You don't need to buy them if you don't want to, and the price of vanity items has been exceptionally high across all games, think of Genshin for example, one of the highest grossing games for add on payments, and they still have high prices. I personally think it's a good way of rewarding what are essentially donations 🤷🏼♀️
I'm sorry but that is not good enough. This is a huge studio with a huge budget.
Why was such a large portion of this update cash shop items? There is a lot of content that needs adding first.

I much rather they just show how much irl money anything costs. Bt i didnt trust their transparency to begin with, just because they are less predatory than most online games.

I’d like to just remind everyone (devs included) that THIS IS IN BETA.
We need to go back to the old days and stop acting like Beta = early access.
The devs need to take the time and work on addressing all the negative feedback around the game and fix it to come back with a polished product. Or else they gonna have a No Man’s Sky/Cyberpunk happening with a mid game that died before it got a chance to develop into something decent.

Thank you for the great video Sarah I love the direction the game is going, and with such frequent updates I am hopeful that the game is going to turn into one of the best gaming experiences available. I also love the pets - however slightly dissapointed with them being locked behind a paywall, especially because I kinda consider them to be more of a new ‘feature’ rather than just a cosmetic item, I trust the team to listen to the feedback and provide some basic pets for free eventually though
To bad to get all the pets you have to spend a lifetime total of 40 bucks. which for a game like this Is absurd price and people are currently complaining in the discord about their Palia coin practices.

I really don't understand the talks about the pets and premium outfits being "too expensive" or "not fair".
This is still a MMO in Beta that is FREE TO PLAY, I am really strong on the free to play part - just like games like Sea of Thieves - PETS & COOLER GEAR/OUTFITS are to be bought with REAL MONEY so that the game can have funds. Make sense? It is not a PAY TO WIN game which is SO COOL. I don't really need the pet to play or an outfit to get further into the story. If you want to get them, sure, pay. If you think it is too expensive, I'm sorry but that does not mean you cannot play the game. Just go to any free to play game like Valorant or League of Legends - you get cosmetics as champions skins or gun skins that do not influence the gameplay bUT will make it "prettier" and that prices are as expensive. Now back to games like Sea of Thieves - besides the fact that is not free to play, the cosmetics are also even pricier than Palia's.

You simply need friendship level 4 with a townsfolk that qualifies as potential shepp ( has the talking option of becoming one) and have followed the llv 4 quest to the end

Overall the game became better ^^
Frankly. I'm more disappointed than anything else. Too much real money for too little reward. All of them are nothing but variants in a very limited set offering no real diff. I may get ONE outfit because it did cost them money to make the game . But frankly I it's still a bit too grindy. Just give me a little more GOLD! I cannot even upgrade the sorry tools... And what's with the tool degradation? That's nothing but grind and not even the good kind of grind.
The cash shop is expensive as hell and the outfits are just unattractive. This game has been a huge disappointment. Travel is tedious and the glider is inefficient, can only go a short distance from a cliff jump. Housing furnishings are strictly hobbit hut looking. Character creation falls way short, hair looks like plastic baby doll hair. I was so excited for this game, and its a huge disappointment.
