I always say that the reason for why I don't have a car is because I can't afford the monthly payments and maintenance fees. Maybe one day I will have a car but right now I'm happy with my city's transit system. It gets me to where I need to go without having to worry about the fees for a car, a parking spot, etc.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with doing business with friends or coworkers, where the issue comes is when those 'friends/coworkers' think that new rules apply. You know you can't screw over a business as you'd be sued or lose financially, but with friends or coworkers people tend to think that they can get away with things as they won't want to lose the friendship or will accept you not being strict on payments etc. Keep your commitments no matter who you have made them to.

If you sign a document that says $100 each pay period, you agree to make a $100 payment every two weeks. And when you only make a $100 payment every 4 weeks, you are two weeks behind. I've had several friends approach me asking if I would be interested in selling one of my vehicles and financing it. I told them straight out that I'm not a bank or used car lot. Told them to go to a dealership if they want a vehicle financed. You never know if they'll make the paym, steal the vehicle or damage or total it while it's in their possession .
That’s why they have to show proof of insurance. We have a car, we make payments. We have insurance if the place we bought the car from ( they call every month) finds out the car is not insured THEY possess the car! We had the car towed because of a cracked radiator. The auto place called us today ( this happened last Wednesday) what happened with the car? I explained what happened and they are ordering the part and fixing the car. Which will be added to my payments. I lost my job, I have severe health problems and still trying to get a proper diagnosis, I will be on my womanly visit for 8-13 weeks at a time with days of no visits. They understand my husband is the only one working and God bless him. But most dealerships understand what people are going through and most dealerships don’t care. I had a friend of mine that bought my mini van ( I loved that van ) the tranny went out. He felt bad that the car was broken down, so instead of buying a new thermostat himself, he told her he'd count the cost of a new one as a payment. This makes me feel bad for still owing my “FIL” $500 on my car! Only difference I use it to transport his Grandkids && he knew it wasn’t worth that last $500 called it even, considering I had to buy a new windshield ($250), windshield wiper linkage and motor ($479), and I had to buy 3 full hub assemblies ($68x3=$204), plus shocks/struts & all new brakes! He did put all new tires on it.
