    Bluegrass Community and Technical College:
    Never Underestimate YOU!
My name is Tasha Perkins. I work at the Clark County Public Library and I am a Youth Services librarian and I specialize in teen services.
I am getting my master's in information and library science from the University of Kentucky.
I chose BCTC because I was a first-generation college student and I was unfamiliar with the whole process. I also needed the support from the faculty of a small campus.
I started out in dental hygiene and then from the gen ed classes I took I realized that I was more interested in history and data retrieval, so then I just got my associate's in art and then went to EKU and got my BA in history.
BCTC really introduced me to what college was like. The professors really care and they're very authentic. I would encourage everyone to start out at BCTC because it's just such a great stepping stone, like get your toes wet in what college is gonna be like even if you just take a couple gen eds there.
BCTC is special because it is a teaching college. BCTC really takes the extra effort in providing services to their students and creating an environment in which you can be successful.
