It is with the only caveat of dodge-rolling not only avoiding all of his mix-ups, but also giving a punish if you dodge-roll away from a Demon's Embrace. Every character needs a roll chaser like Valiant Breakthrough, or dodge-roll/unlock-roll needs to be nerfed, it's by far too safe to use, a "Get out of jail free" card against most heroes.

I can see the DE OOS throw punish being fairly used honestly, if you factor in the healing its technically a bigger health swing than light to charged heavy with 65 instead of 60. The refill of your stamina bar is what I think is most important though, it allows you to continue to apply your OOS pressure even after your punish, which is something most characters don't have the stamina for. The ability to go for even one more additional Oni charge can definitely win you out a round.
actually, it's not that good. don't know if it's a bug or my timing is off but sometimes I don't catch player while they stand up, instead, it gives me the unblockable icon on them and I bounce off. usually happens with orochis
As a note, OOS punishes net you an execution if the charged heavy kills, with OOS throw in top guard needing a slight delay on either attack to get the execution timing. And OOS parry can get a zone into an immediately soft feinted demon's embrace if for some reason the heal and stamina regen is better than raw damage in that situation
If a wall is close, and the opponent guard is in top or left, you can confirm a heavy attack from the direction the demon ball leaves your guard (just buffer a heavy without changing guard basically.) That's 55 damage.
Hey freeze, idk your opinion on the DE being interruptible since you didn't say at the end of the video, but I honestly like it. It punishes teams who just throw attacks without thinking when they see a teammate pin an enemy. Its far less frustrating when I die to a team attack when they are at least being strategic and not brain dead. But I want to know, if you like the change do you think that shinobi's sickle rain should have the same change? I personally think so. A good shinobi can have you pinned for what feels like an eternity if he delays the stabs while his team pummels you
I would very much love this rework if he still had his passive armor. Without shugoki absorbing an unblockable from his armor he just gets bashed to death or bashed out of his strings.
There's nothing more satisfying than being a tag team of shugokis, it's euphoric to get a demons embrace and have them time a charged top heavy and vice versa.
about feats with the shugoki you should use either the longer throws or speed revive second feat should be the one that makes you not able to fall over with normal throws or parries third should be punch through or the one with lower the health equals more defence and last one should be the heavys make nearby enemies and allies fall over for that one can punish in ganking or 1v1 situations quite heavily

If you do the Demon Ball into a wall you get a free side heavy (left) if the opponent does not have their guard on the left. The Oos parry punish is actually pretty simple: -Parry right -> left heavy into top unblockable -Parry left -> right heavy into top unblockable -Parry top -> top heavy into top unblockable -You'll get a Demon's Embrace if you throw a zone attack after a parry (direction doesn't matter) into Demon's Embrace Oh and the throw punish (to be completely sure) always top light into Demon's Embrace. Throw direction doesn't matter.

Yes, all knockdown punishes got nerfed in the Black Prior's Riposte event patch. Any move slower than 700ms (Shugoki's starter heavies are 800) will now cause a wake-up. Best OOS parry punish now is light or zone into charged heavy.
On console the lights are too safe, i feel that giving him hyper armor and heavy property is a little too much for a 500 ms chain start. On top of that it seems that if you dont parry the wakeup light after demons embrace the headbutt is guaranteed, punishes for dodging the headbutt are also a bit too weak. Other than that i think the rework is executed well. good video btw

The only thing I dislike about shugokis rework is his roar. When you killed with demons embrace he would scream "DWOOOOAAA" and everyone in the whole match could hear it. Now he just makes the same sound he makes when he dies to fall damage.
Hey Freeze, i've gotten a fully charged up unblockable on wallsplats. You sure it's impossible? Maybe my opponents were just bad. Din't see any guards popping up when i was trying it, but when i look at yours i can clearly see their guard. This got me mighty confused.
When are you gonna do pk's max punish? As I saw with my pk my side heavys are faster and well... the throw distance got nerfed, oh and she doesnt get a too heavy on thow to wall or at least i couldn't make it... great more pk nerfs
Shugoki main here. And lemme tell you. Playing shugoki with randoms is the worst thing ever. He was usefull on 4v4s pre rework because of the armor for demons embrace. But now I can never land one without people throwing random heavies. I find myself using the headbutt in ganks more which is better than trying to get a demons embrace in. And is it just me or did they nerf his damage too?

Just boost his damage up some across the heavy-charged heavy-Demon’s Embrace board (hell, give him some extra damage on light would be nice, considering Jiang Jun has 400ms 20dmg lights) and make the headbutt ACTUALLY stun the opponent when hit, and I think we’ll be in business. As it stands right now tho, this rework is all of those things short of being good

JJ does have some hard hitting lights but remember his only 400 ms light is on a highly predictable soft feint as well. Shugo is in a great spot overall. Some small changes to his animations perhaps and MAYBE some small damage tweaks.. who can know lol
the only real reduction to his trading abilities are gb'ing with passive HA and negating bashes. I think he should beat bashes in certain situations (especially a toestab or warlord headbutt) but passive armor hurt the shugoki more often then not. he needed the damage reduction (could be minor tweaks, a neutral top heavy should do more) as he got many more options to land those attacks and speeds were increased. Shugoki was predictable for the longest time, now he has mix-up potential. the only really punishable move is demons embrace, besides that his recovery on whiffed charged heavies is way better and the headbutt is pretty safe against anyone but raider. this was a great rework

Freeze the OOS throw top light always hit so always light top then charged heavy.
If you throw someone while they are out of stam can you get a zone + heavy?
