Neil was amazing! I am going to recommend Xanadu from Exit Stage Left The whole band is fantastic! Also, you will see that Neil was not only an amazing drummer but also a percussionist as well as writing deep thoughtful lyrics. Cheers
Time Machine was actually the tour Neil was on at the time. That means this performance would most likely have been in 2011. He had a new kit built from the bottom up for tours during the second half of their career together (i.e. decade nos. 3 & 4).
"it is what it is" is a line Neil Peart used in Rush's masterpiece, "The Garden." It was the last track on the last album the band ever released. You would undoubtedly be awed by its 2012 performance, live in Dallas.
There's so many recommendations and the great thing is he has alot of drum cams taken from concerts ( amazing quality) like "Marathon " or him in studio laying down drum tracks or even him at the Buddy Rich tribute concert doing a jazz song "Cottontail " at a fast 'New York ' tempo - i haven't been disappointed yet !
June 2011- The Late Show With David Letterman: Yes, this is the "Time Machine" (2010, 2011) & the "Clockwork Angels" (2012, 2013) tours kit. My favorite of his kits with the Copper plated hardware and his signature Sabian Paragon cymbals that he co-designed with Sabian. ❤🙏✌🇨🇦
Neil was a master of any polyrhythm on top of a 3/4 meter. Dude was a legend when he was still alive. RIP, Neil. You were my drumming inspiration 45 years ago. 🙏🏻
Neil was more than just an amazing percussionist and lyricist; he was also a best-selling author. If you liked the tribal rhythms you heard here, I think you'll like his book The Masked Rider, his account of when he embarked on a bicycle tour through Cameroon for a more up close and personal look at the people and their culture. As for my favourite Rush song, I choose Limelight because I can relate to his lyrics on being an introvert in a world that idealizes extroverts. Rest in peace Professor. 🥁 🥁 🐐 🐐
That was in 2011. Peart is one of the real rock legends, but I prefer the minimalist style of Joe Jones. The whole less is more approach. "How soft can you play yet still be perfect" sort of thing.
Wow….. finally a reaction to a Neil Peart drum solo that ISNT the overrated Frankfurt drum solo. Thank you for not listening to the ignorant rush fans who only know of the Frankfurt drum solo.

A true legend! Try XANADU live from the Exit Stage Left concert!
@@edgarpacifico3421 thank you
That’s a great suggestion! Xanadu was actually the first long Rush song I learned to play on drums 45 years ago. It never gets old! 👍
I second this, arguably the most sublime live performance of all time, by all three of them.

Neil Peart - The Professor- Percussionist Perfectionist- May he R.I.P.
❤️
I cried the morning the news was out😢😢😢😢😢
😍😍
there's a whole set of DVD's, that showcase just him playing every song. during a concert and in a studio, with parts in slow motion.
Amazing

Ahhh wow thanks for the super chat.
Will get this reacted to!!
Check out his older solos, more youthful aggression.
😀😀
Peart had a lot of difficulty with this performance because he had to seriously trim it to fit within the time allotted by the show's producers.
😍
Speaking of live performances on talk shows, have you watched Disturbed, Sound of Silence on Conan Obrien? I looked but, didnt see it..
Ohhhhh will check that out 😍
