This guy made a whole ass video of mixing shrimp colors and breeding them. Halfway through “yeah let me know if this works I’m actually color blind” I love this channel
Priceless! 👌
So unfortunately shrimp genetics arnt as easy as putting a blue and a red together to get a purple. So Neocaridina shrimp can be broken into 4ish families. The snowballs are a family. The yellows, oranges and greens are a family. The reds, blue jelly’s and the blacks are a family. Then the last are Bloody Marys, blue dreams, blue velvet, chocolates and black roses. Now yellows can make green babies but blue dreams can’t. So those greens your seeing are from 2 yellows and not a yellow and a blue. When you cross shrimp that arnt in the same family you get clear wild type babies. But if you breed a Bloody Mary and a blue dream you will get blue and red babies but never both in one shrimp. Purple is the rarest color for freshwater shrimp. They pop up at random from blue velvet breeding groups. Hope this helps! :)
Also to anyone who is thinking I’m cappin when you looked at the green ones. Did you see any blue and green ones? Nope there is just yellow and green ones.
That intresting so if I put blues with my reds would they mix or would they just have blue dreams and cherry?
@@nickvisser479 well that depends. There are 2 or 3 different lines of “reds” if you have Bloody Mary reds then you should get red and blue shrimp. If you have like fire reds then you will probably just get clear shrimp if the blue and reds breed together.
I believe he got the yellow shrimp from his yellow cherry colony and there's not a single green shrimp there. So surely, the blue would've had some factor to create the green/yellow shrimp outcome.
@@jueadeo8843 well then why isn’t there any blue shrimp with green patches? Why is it only yellow shrimp with green patches? Yellows and greens come from the same family. Greens are created from yellows without blue shrimp being involved what so ever. A quick google search will tell you that crossing colors will pretty much lead to wild type colored shrimp. Aka clear.
It's really cool seeing those almost emerald green shrimp. You never normally get crazy colours like that in the hobby. But shrimp just know how to make it work 🤣
There is a flow chart you can look up on how to get which colors. Almost all of them are from "stuff like this" XD
@@PsychCow I figured that would be the case hahaha 🤣
It's as shrimple as that
How do i get green shrimp? Is there any way?
Those results are so cool!! In the yellow/blue group, there were almost every variation in between - emerald, aquamarine, neon green, etc. How neat! Thank you for sharing with us ❤️
The irony of him being color blind while conducting this experiment🤣
Priceless! 👌
The emerald greens look amazing! Loving this series as I am doing something similar currently
Any luck ?
@@Dropshot.TV.this isn't about luck. Just look up the charts showing which colors can give which colors. Emerald greens don't come from blues in any way. In this video they came from the yellow ones. Once you get enough of them, you can separate them and breed only them, which in time will give you mostly green babies. For instance breeders of yellows (and other examples) know that they have to cull about 10-20% of shrimp anyways, cause they will be green. Same goes for other colors. It's called "breeding true" (or not, in which case they would give a high percentage of culls
@@dimitrijekrstic7567 thank u for a better understanding of this 🤟🏻
4:00 We got you those are most definitely green, a nice bright green at that keep up the amazing work. 👌🏾 Can't wait until you produce those purple shrimp next
At the end of the video, 4:50, there is a baby that looks more like a neon greenish or even maybe an "aqua" blue/green, to me. It's not green but definitely a different shade of green than the others. Again at 5:01 there is a good comparison to a larger yellow/green shrimp front left of tank
Omg that baby looks sick at 4:50
I want to try this in a low maintenance tub doesn’t have to be lots of money which I like just throw in some Java moss and boom
3:58 funniest part of the video
Legendary 👌
watching this i want to cry, knowing what is involved with getting colours to their high quality and personally knowing that from cull tanks when they are mixed they tend to throw more wild colour (brownish/clear)
“Bare with me I’m colour blind” “here we have a brown shrimp” but it’s green. Haha love it, good work man 👌
Legend ! 😎
I'm also colorblind and I have an awful time even being able to see shrimp in my tanks against the substrate and the green plants. I finally found some rad orange shrimp and they're so much fun!
My favorites are still the blue. Love blue. The color you were asking was green and some had gold/green.
That's really cool, I didn't think they'd turn such a pretty color and have some cool colors! Hopefully the red and blue get going soon!
I also breed shrimps in plastic bins. Just add some lava rocks and driftwood with moss attaches. They will breed like crazyyy 😂
I love this!!! Our local fish stores have red ones sometimes but typically just the clear ghost shrimps. I want blue and green ones!
Marble Queen pothos is a slightly slower grower than other pothos bcoz it's not producing as much green leaf to photosynthesise with. Also once it's root system establishes it'll start to push out leaves consistently.
Love the bin idea as well mate, it came in handy when my son brought goldfish home and they needed a temporary pond
The green is soooo green!! Greetings from California 😁
whole video is about mixing colorful shrimp, bombshell at 4:20 I FORGOT TO TELL YOU I'M COLOUR BLIND. lol
You should invest in color blind glasses so you can see the true beauty of your shrimps
LOOKING GOOD :)
LOVING THE GREEN AND THE YELLOW-GREEN :)
THANK YOU FOR SHARING :)
THANK YOU FROM ISRAEL :)
You should get a pair of glasses that let you see colors
i love when you point to a super colorful one and call it brown its cute lol
Bless! ✌️
So cool! I’ve never seen colored shrimp like this before. They remind me of pretty patties 😄✨
Saw your video in the morning. Back again . Great work!!
Was really hoping for more updates on this experiment
Hi. thaNK you for sharing. I had no idea Pothos were good in an aquatic setup
I am colourblind as well
Every now and then RUclips recommends me some golden videos and this is one don’t know why I’m so interested but I am
I have red and blue shrimps in my tank and they had blue, red, clear and mainly brown with some a golden brownish colour. Very cool.
How cute! You got green shrimp!
Wow, lime green & lemon lime shrimp. Very cool!
Very cool, love the blue yellow mixing of these shrimp.
Ain't he just the cutest!😜😍
Nice! Here is the video I've been waiting on.
Super cool! I saw a video of someone that had done something similar outside and the shrimps did amazing. Since then wanted to always give it a shot one day! Got some shrimp on my channel, they're super interesting to watch.
Pretty cool! Also need that baby bettas update. How are those going? The colours must have come through more.
I'm also waiting the betta update. Behind him you can see the crowntail bettas with the lavender colour but it looks like there's not as many of them left.
the green shrimp looks like they are yelllow in the inside but has a blue shell. this gives them an overall green color. its really cool!
Amazing results for the yellow and blue tank. :) Love the bright color green
This video made my morning with out even knowing the outcome. I will watch it in a few moments Thank you for following up 😂❤️👍
Normally it doesn't work like that when you mix different colors of neos you going to get a brown wild type of shrimp. That green shrimps looks big and very mature there is no way they grow so big in 3 month. The shrimp only caring eggs for 30 days. Some blue shrimps has green tint in them and I think because they've been in the dark for so long they become pale and started to look more green
Yo, you need to have those color blind glasse
interested to see how this is going after a year
I don't have any fishes or shrimp...but i just love your videos man❤️...keep up the work❤️✨
I’m in love with the emerald shrimp!
Greeeeeeen
Sneaky ;)
@@dinimit4 I breed a lot of shrimp 😂😂
But with filters and do water changes 🐄🐄
ooooo, I need to get some yellows, I have really dark blues. Thanks for the research and the video. Be well
the bins are great. i would go with white or grey to see them tho.
I like these simple experimental videos too that you drop back to every few weeks 👌
4:10 holy heck, I wasn't expecting you to drop Naz¡ terminology in this video lmao
You might want to consider getting a pair of EnChroma glasses so you can enjoy the colors you are breeding.
Have to point this out to you you said that brown mixed one it wasn’t brown it was a really nice colour the top was a green and almost camo pattern down to a yellow colour I’ve never seen that mutation in neo shrimp before nice
Putting blue and yellow together should not have created green shrimp because genetics don't work like that. So I'm completely blown away by the fact that that's exactly what happened.
The green shrimp look amazing!
The results are pretty cool can't wait to see the cherrys and blue dreams to mix to see if it's worth getting myself some blues for my colony
if they mix the babies are probably going to be white, not purple
@@isabelestevez7612 yip unfortunately someone told me they would make wild types so guess I'm gonna have to stick to my cherry colony for now
Look like the green and blue were breeding as well and got turquoise baby👍👍
Yes they are green with some yellow patches. Kinda jade colour
bright neon green shrimp id love some
Awesome project, can't wait to see what other colors pop up
That's crazy 😍 definitely lime green shrimp
so cool, didn't think you'd get green shrimp---wow
Now I want to get some yelliws to mix with some of my blues. Local fish stores by me would buy all my lemon limes😂
I’ve been waiting for thissss 🤩
Love those green shrimp 🦐
this was awesome!
it would also def be cool if we got a betta update, it has been two months
That's pretty cool the yellow and blue breeded and made green ones that's the colour when you mix blue and yellow together
perfect timing, i just finished your first video on this
Yeah those green shrimp look awesome 👌
Those green shrimp look so cool
Yes, you definitely have some bright green shrimp and some with both yellow and green.
Love the result from the blue and yellow tub!
Great to see the progress
Very cool stuff, I have been buying skittles mixes and throwing them into my blue dream cull tank to see what comes out. Its exciting stuff you get all kinds of wild variations.
theyre almost like a neon green type of colour, thats heaps cool dude
those green shrimp look really cool
omg the shrimp are actually green nice i gotta try that one day!
The yellow green mix is pretty cool 🤙
That's so cool a shrimp with green an yellow head..
Instantly name "Ozzy spirt"..
You've created a whole new species 😂❤🎉
Ad marimo moss in the bucket! Need few light, are perfect for the shrimps and clean well the water!
Hahaha sorry we all yelled about the bin project on your last update.
Tytyty for the upload
Would love to see an in-depth tutorial on successfully breeding single color shrimp in tubs.
I did see that another RUclipsr did a similar experiment (what do you get when you mix colors) and he found that after a few generations, they reverted to "clear" looking blah shrimp. I mean, I wouldn't mind having shrimp that blend in like they did, but breed easier than Amanos. Maybe fish wouldn't spot them and prey on them as easily? Idk Not an experiment I'd want to lose money on 😅
They looked very cool, well done.
I love the mixes! Thanks for the update! So awesome!
Give your Cherry and Blue Dreams more time! I have some very nice mixes going on I've been breeding out. Looks like Spiderman :)
Dude your an awesome human being
Darn! I was looking forward to purple 💜 🦐
Thanks for the update
I have a yellow shrimp who is berried. I have other colors too, so it will be interesting to see what color her babies are.
LOVE this series! I’m so excited to see what happens next!
The biggest bomb dropped with all these different color shrimps and the attempt to cross breed is the fact that this dude is color blind 😂
🤦♀️ ✌️
What colors are you talking about? They’re all clear
It would be good to update the survival rate of shrimps that you put in. Was wondering versus the "offsprings". Seems that the salvaged shrimps were much lesser compared to the initial batch
Love your green ones
I'm guessing you live somewhere warm. I may try this because I think I'm doing way too much. Not sure this will work with North Eastern weather but I'm enjoying your videos
The green ones look great
Yep
You got the green shrimp
I have Fire Red, Neon Yellow and Bloody Mary shrimp in the same tank and they are all breeding well enough for me to supply my local aquarium centre
i am a fan from philippines and i want to breed a beta fish because of you my man its now my hobby❤️❤️ i hope i have a chance to get some of your betta fish thanks man for keeping inspiring me ❤️❤️ love lots from philippines godbless broooooo
That yellow greenish small one...people say breeding colors together always ends up brown. Think it's finally time to stock the 6.5
