      hey question so i know this game will no longer be video formatted but for people (like me) that won't be able to play it (Due to Slow Devices or That have Devices that can't download games) , will you still be possible to upload the prologue on here when it releases?

    I'm proud to be featured in the Q&A video and be a part of Team Kill Cure, listening to your auditions! It's an honour to work with Schlen who is an amazing director and leader. She is kind, encouraging, stern yet reasonable, and is always transparent with the project's progress and development. Kill/Cure would not be where it is today without her efforts.

    I just want to take a moment to applaud the RESILIENCE of the K/C team and leadership. Game development is NOT easy, especially coming back from people dropping out from burnout or real-life circumstances. I worked on my own indie game this year, and this is unfortunately very common. It takes a lot of adaptability to fill in the gaps and keep going!
    I am watching this project with great interest. Keep up the amazing work guys!

    WAAAAAAAA this is awesome news! I was a tiny bit bummed out that the executions would not be animated, but I completely understood the reasons and realistically, danganronpa style animations are very time consuming. I am overjoyed to hear that there is possibility for community contests though and that my question was picked! Overall, Schlen's transparency and clarity are much appreciated and inspiring! Thank you! As for Ruby, it is awesome to hear that you continued to stick around since I first knew of this project and that you agreed to voice in this video! Your work is great and I am confident that this project will only get better as it goes on. And lastly, CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WHOLE TEAM!! We are approaching 20K views slowly on the prologue trailer and we have so much activity because all your work is/will be showcased. I hope you keep pushing through, this has been a rough journey. I love all of you and your work!

    Ah I'm so excited!!! I was reminded of this project today and wanted to know if it was still going, it's really cool that it's going to be an actual game now!!!!! I'd love if I could be a part of something similar but a full time job and my low energy relegates me to maybe a painting or two a year, it's amazing that you guys have so much passion. Good luck :D

    Good on y'all for setting realistic goals here but also being open to experiment and improve! It's quite easy to get caught up in expectations and hype and feel paralyzed by it, especially when you're making a fan project. As a webcomic reader, you always know personal projects can go belly-up, whether they're made by one person or a team, but failue doesn't have to be the end of the world and something beautiful can blossom from it in due time.     Along with Project Edens Garden, this is something to look forward for Dangan fans. They are both looking very authentic, best looking dangan fan games so far. Nice job and good luck on the project!

    No execution animations? Thats a pretty big deal. I think fun and wellmade characters like these would be able to get appropriatly flashy sendoffs... Still I am really glad to be getting the game at all. Hope i make the cut for one of the characters!

      Part of the reason for that is to do animations in the way people associate with a professional Danganronpa-style game would take a large amount of time and resources. The downscaling of those and some other things is necessary regarding being able to finish and release this in a timely manner in order to avoid taking multiple years between Chapters. This is also to do with us being able to better understand our own expectations and what is realistic.

      @@WaneMovinMaybe they will be like various static images that change when you click or whatever, along with the description of their deaths (execution) on the text box. (English is not my first language)

      @WaneMovin highly stylized static images could be even better than the real games. You could get different artists to do them so the style would be different every time. I want a comic book straight out of marvel for the superhero (or her murderer). Maybe for the daredevil (or his killer) you could have a *real* LIVE ACTION DAREDEVIL do a stunt and edit it to where he fails and explodes. IDK.

    I've been seeing lately the trailers and footage of this project, and I will say, this is super impressive, ambitious and even inspiring to some extent!
    I hope the team does the best of its efforts.

    I heard about your project but I didn't do deep dive in this project but now I can wait to see this. I play/watch several fungames and I love creative way of thinking in this type I hope some Danganronpa's traditions will be done in creative way. But I have to ask when we can expect prologue? Is it near future or far from end? And did first chapter will be posted with prologue or we have to wait? (I hope I written everything understandable because English isn't my first language)

    Obviously not looking for any spoilers here, but are you guys sticking to the small outline Moboxer passed on? Or are you deviating from it?
    And no matter what the answer to that previous question is, would you be willing to release his outline and other notes once the game is fully out?

      The story outlines, be it Moboxer's original one, or Cross's afterwards are intended to remain unreleased out of respect for them. The current story is a new and original one put together by the current writing team, being headed up and approved by our lead writer, Rebus. It's something we've worked really hard on to have it be something we can feel proud of. We think and hope you'll all be able to enjoy and appreciate it too.

    Hey. I didn't realize it's been that many years, I follow this project since beginning.
    I'll give my shot with Casting Call again, although I wonder is there any way I could reach out to yall to get tips what should I change from my last auditions to have higher chances? Of course I'd like to do it anonymously to not create any strange sittuation by it, like I could send my voice lines from last time via e-mail or discord and then use unrelated ccc account for new auditions.
    I would be very grateful, as even if I ultimately wouldn't get into that project, I'd still learn something so I get better at VA.

    In all honesty, I highly doubt that this rebrand is going to shield you from anything. Whether or not you use original assets is only one of many things that are evaluated when looking for copyright violation. That little _Kaitei underground_ sample in your trailer? That probably qualifies as a copyright violation. Trying to imitate the layout of the Danganronpa Non-Stop Debate UI? That probably qualifies as a copyright violation (see Spire Fox v. Lolapps). You need a more radical departure from Danganronpa in order to be in the clear.
    If anything, you might have put yourself in a more dangerous position: by saying you have removed all copyrighted elements from you game, you are basically claiming that Spike Chunsoft does not have exclusive rights on things it does have exclusive rights on. This might actually push them to file a cease and desist, as you are trying to deprive them of their IP.
    If I were you, I'd consult with a legal expert. You should not lose sight of the illegality of your actions.

      chunsoft might try to hit them no matter what they do, but i doubt that any of the actual gameplay will be what gets them. using the fnaf-likes as a reference, and scott cawthons opinion on the matter, you'd have a hard time copyrighting a genre. if "everyone talks at once and you have to find the lie/truth among the chatter" is a staple of a danganronpa-style game (similar to how metroidvania as a genre was formed), then that's the genre. or i guess its more a subgenre of mafia/werewolf games. the tricky part is the art style for the characters.
      but yes, i agree that they should consult a legal advisor on the technicalities since spike chunsoft is not likely to be as open to the idea of danganronpa becoming its own genre as cawthon was.

      @@XionRulez Legally, you cannot copyright a genre. There is a concept in copyright law called the "idea-expression dichotomy": a core idea is not protected, only the author's original expression is. Multiple authors can start from the same idea and express it in distinctly different ways.
      For this same reason, game mechanics _themselves_ cannot be copyrighted.
      That being said, the graphics and UI of the game mechanics are part of the expression. Those _can_ be copyrighted, as long as they are not necessary to express the core idea (so-called _scènes à faire_).
      This is basically why, in that case I mentioned (which is one of the most important cases for videogame copyright in the USA), the court found that Lolapps had plausibly infringed on Spry Fox's copyright (the cased ended with an out of court settlement). Lolapps basically tried making a reskinned version of Spry Fox's game, Triple Town, with some added features (this clone was called "Yeti Town"). I cannot help but notice the similarities between this and fangames' remakes of the Non-Stop Debate minigame, which always have a basically identical look to the official games (V3 in particular, but sometimes there are elements from 1/2).
      I'd say that these are definitely not part of the expression, as scènes à faire:
      - the concept of disproving or corroborating statements with evidence;
      - a health bar that goes down if you make mistakes.
      I'd say that these might be part of the expression:
      - having the player find contradictions in a shooter-like minigame, while everyone talks nonstop;
      - having commands to accelerate or slow down time;
      - having a depletable and self-restoring focus gauge for slowing down time;
      - having spurious words fly in front of and block hittable points;
      - giving the player the ability to convert statements into bullets that can be used as evidence.
      I'd say these are likely part of the expression:
      - giving the player a small selection of up to six usable piece of evidence per debate;
      - placing the selected bullet on the bottom right of the screen over a gun cylinder graphic;
      - ending the debate with a bend cut-in of the protagonist with the word "Counter" and the voice line "No, that's wrong!"
      Also, another element that made the court rule that Spry Fox's claim was plausible in that case was online reviewers noticing the substantial similarities between Triple Town and Yeti Town. When this releases, I think there will be no lack of videos doing the same with ex-Danganronpa: Kill/Cure and Danganronpa games.
      As for Scott Cawthon, what he does with his games is his business and his business alone. A court will not consider an individual developer's opinion on law as something that is legally binding.

      @@AulusAugerius i wasnt meaning to imply that some random youtube comment would be admissible in court, i was just trying to basically say what you said just now but in less words, while offering an example where the games were identical to the original but no copyright was considered infringed (informally).
      i would like for [kill cure] to use a custom ui and art style, and i dont know what minigames are included in the dr engine because those might be an issue too, but this is, despite the half assed attempt at avoiding a c&d, still a fangame, so i dont see them changing that part.
      Your Turn to Die (not a dr fangame, just another mafia game) has a somewhat similar artstyle so its not completely off the table for them to make a unique style that still evokes danganronpa if that's important to them.
      i say all of this from the point of view of someone with a ton of parody projects on the back burner where 80% of my time spent on them is making the [story for the rpg, trials for the danganronpa one] unique while still fun

    This is a very good Q&A statement! I have been following the project since the beginning, and everything changed a lot, I must say that everyone's effort in the team is amazing, it's not easy and takes some of our mental health as well.
