The shit Kobe talked about applies to anything u wanne be great at. What sets him apart from "motivational speakers" is cuz the stuff he says is grounded in realism.
He doesnt say ur problems go away or you're guaranteed success. Just how to maximize what you have.

I have been doing 2-3 hours every day for the entire off season. I was the least athletic and didn't have good form. Now I am one of the most athletic and have almost perfect form. So close to being crazy good.
Edit. Thanks for all the encouragement guys! I am officially 6th man! I have a little more than a month left in the off season and plan on getting a starting position. I scored 20 points in today's practice my team had 35. The practice before I had 5 blocks and 16 points. I am not even that tall and blocked multiple step back 3s! Alright ill stop just so proud of where I've come from!
    Edit 2: OCTOBER 18TH 2022
Lol people are asking for an update. I don't mind at all. This is turning into a public journey/journal lol. Ok so my 6 months of training has paid off a little bit more! On Sunday I was invited to practice with THE VARSITY! I think my coach was testing to see how I would hold up. My offense was actually pretty good against the varsity for being a junior varsity player. I did have a turn over and a quite embarrassing block. But I scored 2 jumpers and a layup on some really tall people. I got clobbered on defense though. I could run an offense pretty well with the varsity and set scorers up. The coach at the end of practice complemented me so much on my shooting form. And that man does not give out compliments at all.I went home beating myself up about, "how bad I did" I have a pretty negative mindset no matter how good I do in any practice. (Which I'm working on) but the next morning I woke up and realized how good I did for being on the junior varsity struggling to get a starting position. I think I'm guaranteed a starting position on the junior varsity now. And to put the cherry on top! I'm invited to tonight's basketball practice! I have junior varsity practice tomorrow night on Wednesday. I'm so happy! I'm 5'10 with a 6'1 wingspan now. Everyone reading please go after your dreams relentlessly. Look what I've done already. make a list of why's because the more you remember why your doing this the less likely it is for you to count the cost and quit. Ok there's my update! Thanks for asking y'all. Tell me if you want more updates.
    Edit 3: November 24th 2022 Thanksgiving.
Ok so I have a starting position on JV. My shot is insanely good. My heart got broke because I realized my friends don’t care about me that much. I am trying to ignore as best I can. On Tuesday I worked out even though I had worked out the day before and had a workout the next day. I was so sad that’s the only thing I could think of to do. I am lacking discipline and feel a little lost. I just know I can’t quit. I’m so hyped up because of my shot and the road seems so much easier than what developing a shot takes. In my opinion that’s the hardest part. I had 8 points in the east coast national pre season game and had 3-4 assists and 2 rebounds! We lost because our point guard is pretty arrogant. We could have won but he was trying to be the hero. I’m pretty annoyed with him. I’m hoping I will find myself soon but until then I will keep pushing. Even though I’m doing really good I just am struggling mentally. I hope things get better soon. I’ll keep everyone posted!
    Edit 4 January 20th 2023
ITS 2023! I have been working hard. I was beefing with a kid at the court today and my shot got really good and I knocked some shots down! I like didn’t miss! My JV team is struggling we are like 3 and 7 right now. We are making a comeback. We blew out some teams that blew us out earlier. Our point guard is finally passing and that’s when we started winning. I am striving to make the local AAU team. It’s going to take a lot of hard work and I don’t know if I can do it. But I am going to do everything in my power to make it happen. My defense needs to get better and my shot needs to improve. I’m struggling with sometimes I’m open in the game and I miss. I had a 15 point game but I should have had way more. My shot selection is sometimes off too. Nothing a few weeks of form shooting won’t fix. To make the aau team my trainer says I need to show lights out shooting, decent defense and hustle. I can do the hustle but the lights out shooting and defense I struggle with. Defense is my biggest weakness now. I’m not very good at it. Because I’m flat footed when I play defense. I need to get on my toes. I am hustling way more on defense. I CAN FINALLY TOUCH RIM! I’m 5’11 and can touch rim. Im turning myself into an athlete! Im very proud but a little frustrated with my tendinitis and another thing I can’t pronounce. I can’t workout as hard as I’d like because of my knees. Wish me luck I need it, I really need to make this AAU team as it would help me a lot in the off season. There is 12-15 spots max and I have to kick someone who is familiar with the coach off because I proved I was better I cannot be as good, I have to be better because the coach would rather work with someone he knows. Wish me luck. I’ll give another update in a couple months.
    Edit 5 Feb. 27th 2023
Guys I DID IT I DID THE IMPOSSIBLE I MADE THE AAU TRAVEL TEAM! I was one of the last guys to make it but I made it. Even with mono (I kept grinding) and won! I won today guys let’s gooooo! I am so proud but super sick. I will not stop this Ever. The ball is rolling and I plan on keeping it going!
    August 4th 2023.
This is a sad update. I am becoming more confident my life has drastically improved. I am a great three point shooter and I am jumping higher than ever. But today I got and mri of my knee since it had been hurting for a year now…. It’s torn. I’m out of basketball for who knows how long. Idk what to do. I guess this might be it. All these hours days of grinding to be the best. Stops with a torn knee. It feels like it’s all gone to waste 😢😢😢. Thanks for following my story. Idk when you will here from me next.
    May 15th 2024:
Welp j saw a comment and realize I haven’t updated in almost a year. I’m just under 6’2 but I’m still really light weight. I have been working out a lot and I am playing a lot. Knee is healed. We went to the national tournament and got like 15th place out of 32 which was disappointing because we were a top 3 team to win it. We just didn’t have enough of a bench. We almost beat the team who won the championship in the finals. We would have beaten them in the 3rd round if the refs wouldn’t have screwed us over multiple times. We lost by 4. But good news is my coach sat my down and said if I’m shooting 40% from 3 by the season I will be a 6 man!!!! Super pumped! That is crazy. This is a top notch team. I am working on my shot hard. It’s inconsistent at the a state tournament I probably shot 50% from 3 and then 2 weeks later I couldn’t shoot to save my life. I think I finally will get it this summer though. I just need to be more athletic and be able to get by my man shoot 40% and play good defense and I will be competing for a starting position I suspect!!!!

I got so good I made the Florida state team. Out of 600 kids in the tryout for Florida, i made the starting 11 team. Best 11 players of all Florida and i was one of them. Flew to Alabama to play against the rest of the states. Played against Jozy Altidore when we were both little. Against Jeremy hall and if im not mistaking Dax mccarty. I have a metal leg now from a broken tibia. Some guy got mad he couldn’t mark me and kicked my leg and crack it. Watching Michael jordan and kobe inspired me to go hard in my sport. Respect 🫡

Kobe Bryant was the perfect example of who and what kind of basketball 🏀 player a person can be if they will take the time to put aside their free tim and 100% dedicate themselves to be the very best basketball player they can be
    RIP Kobe Bryant ❤
Thank you for setting your requirements so high as an example for others to follow in whatever fields of employment career they chose🎉😊

6 months ago I had never played basketball. I decided to start practicing it because of my friends, I would practice every day for 1:30-2 hours everyday. Now I just made my school team and I’m better then all my friends.

I was sooo butt in middle school and freshman year. I didn’t make the team for my first 2 years in HS and this man changed my life when I became obsessed with him and the game and the preparation. Every single day of that summer after my sophomore year I put in work and it continued till my senior year. I’m not saying I’m NBA level ready but man he’s right about that progression cause it looks like I’ve played my whole life now I gotta try to give others that knowledge cause it’s true the work matters

My son and I were out in the pouring rain this morning at 5:30 am until 7:00 am practicing basketball. Then he had to get ready for school. We practice 2 hours during the week and 4 hours on saturday and sunday. This is all year for the past year.
