Yep real Country and Western music is about three things humorous stories, sad and dark humorous stories, and lonesome heartbreak stories. And like the great David Allen Coe said. It's gotta mention something about trains, trucks, mama, prison, or gettin drunk
I’m from Florida and that statement is so true. God is great, beer is good and people are crazy! No matter your race, ethnicity or political party. Whether we’re at a bar or hanging outside we’re one. Enjoying life and taking in things we don’t fully understand. Good reaction guys!!!
My Grandma is 100 years old. She comes from money and I have family members who have talked about getting their “inheritance” when she passes. I’ve already got her real riches, and that’s having her in my life. She is an AMAZING woman who I can only hope to be like one day. I recently found out I’m in her will. I’ll never ask what she’s leaving me. I don’t want her to doubt for a second that my love for her is really for her and not her money. Money and greed are cancerous, especially when they are tangled with family. Hold your family close and do it for the right reasons.
Beautifully stated. You clearly know what truly carries value in this life, and money isn’t it. Much love to you and I wish your grandmother many more glorious years with you and yours! - 🎙 Wil
this is exactly why I live a simple life. I dont try to rise above my means nor live a lifestyle I cant afford. Also dont get jealous of those that do, I'm sure they put in the hard work to have it, and its petty to be angry at them for it. I got a roof, my wife and food. My kids are raised and have great lives. What more could a man ask for? When my grandfather passed, all the in-laws pretty much stole everything from the house before the funeral even ended... my father simply let them have it. He knew.
Nothing better than the philosophical conversations that come when people hear this song... although, in a close second, the young gentleman, wise beyond his years, calling Derks out for improper roadside etiquette. That was priceless and had me hollering at the screen. 🤣🤣🤣
You got me with why is she on the outside of the sidewalk! I just have to say that one of the moments I felt the most loved is when a man (darker than me) explained to me he always needed to be curbside when we were walking!!!! To this day (15 yrs later) that memory still makes me smile!!!!!
I always felt just like you did...his kids probably hadn't even spoke to him in years! He probably had the best time in that small bar that he had in MANY years!!

While I was in the Navy, I’d do my usual (when we were in port) weekend runs down the beach in Long Beach. There was always one man going through trashcans pulling what he could pull out of them. After a few weeks of seeing him doing that, I started carrying a few (10 or 20) with me to give to him. We actually became friends. I never asked him why he did what he did. The day before transferred off that ship to my next command, my shipmates and friends had a party for me at out usual place. The party planner went to pay the bill, bartender said there wasn’t one, it’s already been taken care of. I’m like it’s gotta be 5-600 dollars. A man walked up, gave me a hug, simply said thank you. Dude was a millionaire that walked the beach each morning. Looks are deceiving, but kindness is not.

😍💭 There's a really nice bar with a full wrap around porch, on the outskirts of my neighborhood. It's about a 3 minute walk from my house, and every once in a while, on a Friday or Saturday night, when I don't have anything to do, I'll walk over there. I'll go in and order a drink then sit outside on the porch and just listen to the band while I sip on whatever drink I decided on lol. And it never fails that before the night thru, I end up talking for hours with either a random person or group lol. Sometimes it'll be someone I know. But I personally love it. The bar looks like a wood cabin and with that wrap around porch, it's a perfect place to pause life, have a drink and talk face to face with actual people😍
U never know what a simple friendly conversation means to someone Love me some country music, best story telling genre hands down!!!! Love when y’all react to country!!!!! ❤
Fun fact: this video was actually shot in Ohio at Papa Boos on Buckeye Lake. He recorded parts of the video then put on a show for us. Other parts were shot around Lake Erie and Put-In-Bay, Ohio. Hence where he sings "what brings you to Ohio?". Continuity is always nice in song and video.
Thanks for reacting to this, hardly any channels react to country and there's an insane amount of good country and country singers out there. I know a TON. There's a similar song you gotta hear called "Watermelon Wine." Trust me on this.
Country music, like no other Genre touches all our souls, white, black, or any other color, music isn’t meant for one race, it’s universal and meant to be listened to as such.
I love watching people from other races react to country music. Seeing them actually enjoy something and not knowing they would. Almost everyone can relate to it in one way or another.
You guys are so thoughtful. A joy to listen to. I'll tell you a secret if you don't already know. People love country music because of the stories. Story songs are everything. Theres a guy that sang, well, closer to telling trucker stories. His name is Red Sovine. It's stuff from the early seventies. But you might like "Phantom 309" or "Roses for Momma." The core of all life is a limitless chest of tales.
I love this song. I know this is a weird request but it’s a song way different then anything yalll have done before it’s called the Alamo ballad by Marty Robbins.
It’s never a weird request coming from you Keagan but we will definitely add it to the list and this time I’ll remember that you suggested it lol……Rob 🔒
oh wow! you mean there are still people who believe in some of the "old-fashioned" isms? I love that ya'll opened that with the comment about him not walking on the side closest to the road. As a southern woman, who isn't ashamed to admit that I'm a woman who isn't as strong as a man and who doesn't believe that being treated differently is a bad thing...much respect!
I’m glad to know that that knowledge is still appreciated! That was how I was raised and will forever operate! Much respect to you for being open to the idea of (In my opinion) being protected. You’d be surprised how much pushback there is for even subtle gestures like this! - 🎙 Wil
@@Roblockdn Sadly, I wouldn’t be at all surprised. The first wave of feminism, I understand and appreciate what they paved the way for. The “feminism” that I started really noticing in the nineties is just baffling and sad to me especially trying to raise a teenage boy in this current world. Teaching my daughters to appreciate the gestures and to seek them out even was a lot easier than teaching my son to act that way when everything online and on tv it seems is telling him that it’s wrong. SMH
respect goes both ways. I was raised the same way but I don't feel that those traditions are obligatory. Most of the women I know could care less and would be insulted at being treated as weaker or needing special treatment. Shouldn't a woman walk on the street side if she's with an older woman who might be frail or with an elderly man? Of course. Just like holding a door open. It's courtesy to do it for everyone.
@@davidburgess3882 I've absolutely taught my daughters the same standards of respect and common courtesy but I slightly disagree. I do actually believe there should be differences in the actions/behaviors I want ingrained in my son and daughters. We are all equal and should all be afforded the same rights/respect but we are not all the same in my opinion. And while the traditions may not be obligatory or appreciated by others, I'm still going to go on teaching my children to behave that way and to appreciate the acts and behaviors of others who still do them. As far as being offended by being treated like they are weaker...well I guess everyone is entitled to feel how they feel but if I'm struggling to lift something heavy and a man offers to do it for me, I'd find it incredibly dumb to be offended by that but hey that's just me.
