I've often wondered about the digging you do in creek banks n beds. I know your old mate from Eldorado cursed fossickers' digs when we went out panning. Some you could break a leg in, especially if you're an old fart like me *. But, I guess, with the Ranger's OK - so important - and the fact that next flood event, tonnes of silt and stones will move downstream, filling in diggings, it makes sense that restoring a dig is not so important. @Al Gottsch time is precious and worth more than gold or money! I used to be able to do lots of active things when I was young but the last 20+ years have been rough with pain and not being able to move very well.I have a rare bone disease called hereditary multiple exostosis which grows bone tumours all over my body so I do what ever I can when I can and usually feel it for days or weeks.I love prospecting but I've recently moved house and I'm still recovering but really need to hit the stream for a sluice and pan.😉cheers👍
Quite impressive with those small creeks that you pan from.Aside from the upper banks, your shallow creek gold recoveries are with good results.Best of luck from BC, Canada
I remember 30! And that was 20 ago.. yikes... i watch busted knuckles also! Great stuff also.... All of you guys are great to watch, very entertaining and very info heavy... :)
"Why yes, it's a rock. But you, Daddy love rocks too! I just wanted to show my support and love for you, by loving and playing with the same things as you."
Ahh, Upper Bench dirt and Lower Bench dirt, now I understand Parliament better, the Upper Bench is basically the older dirt that hasn't been moved on yet. 😏
Long time ago I talked to an old chap who worked on a dredge in the Beechworth area as a young boy ,he told me that behind the dredge the gravell was all yellow. He said that there was an old bloke who was panning the gravell got a small pill bottle full of gold out of every dish . I belief that most of the gold we are getting now comes from the dredging , he also told me that the dredge he was working on went up the wrong valley , they run out of gold , so they just left it there. Cheers
That last tip on the unsaid information in videos that you can learn from was exactly the method I learned commercial mushroom picking with. Great advice and thank you for the education. You do a great job explaining an effective method of prospecting. I'm going to soon be applying it to my area and see what there is out there in the ground.

Great vid as always Chris. Fantastic info as usual. I was surprised you were using the river sluice rather than the high banker....as I thought the banker would be easier on your back...
