    *disclaimer*
    In this video and a few others I will be working on and in the creek banks. Please note that this has been conducted in a designated prospecting area that includes the creek, its banks and the surrounding acreage. It is legal to dig here and has been confirmed with our local ranger!
    HOWEVER, it is not legal to do this type of mining everywhere so make sure you check your local mining regulations to ensure your legality.
    also *first!

    • @joannagrimmer
      @joannagrimmer 5 лет назад +5

      I've often wondered about the digging you do in creek banks n beds. I know your old mate from Eldorado cursed fossickers' digs when we went out panning. Some you could break a leg in, especially if you're an old fart like me *. But, I guess, with the Ranger's OK - so important - and the fact that next flood event, tonnes of silt and stones will move downstream, filling in diggings, it makes sense that restoring a dig is not so important. Good to warn your viewers of this issue, though, as they come from all over the planet.
      *You're looking good for 30!!! Happy Day!

      @Al Gottsch time is precious and worth more than gold or money! I used to be able to do lots of active things when I was young but the last 20+ years have been rough with pain and not being able to move very well.I have a rare bone disease called hereditary multiple exostosis which grows bone tumours all over my body so I do what ever I can when I can and usually feel it for days or weeks.I love prospecting but I've recently moved house and I'm still recovering but really need to hit the stream for a sluice and pan.😉cheers👍

    Long time ago I talked to an old chap who worked on a dredge in the Beechworth area as a young boy ,he told me that behind the dredge the gravell was all yellow. He said that there was an old bloke who was panning the gravell got a small pill bottle full of gold out of every dish . I belief that most of the gold we are getting now comes from the dredging , he also told me that the dredge he was working on went up the wrong valley , they run out of gold , so they just left it there. Cheers

      On an unrelated note, you did a video a week or 2 ago when you stumbled across a quartz vein. I'm curious if there is a way to get a piece of it and soak it in a solution to dissolve the quartz but leave any gold?

    When you threw a large rock into the creek, Grizzly thought you were playing with him. Next thing he has a rock in his mouth. Good fun!! Thanks for this upload.

    "confirmed by our local ranger"...is critical. regardless of my desire to not let the "Ranger" know too much, I have found, for the most part, "rangers" are very supportive of my endeavors. Most think that I am a nut case anyway. they always seem to have a half hidden smile on there face. Quick story: while on a raft trip some years ago I found an inside bend that was exposed, on top there was about 4 inches of blond sand, 4 inches of pure black sand and then another layer of blonds. I was a rookie at the time and did not understand what I was seeing. after watching your videos and others, boy, did I miss, no pun intended, a golden opportunity. Since retiring and before I get to crippled up from old age, I am going to find that place again. the layering may not be there but on the other side of the river and up a small narrow canyon with a small stream coming out of it, I plucked out a clump of grass with my pan on the downstream side and panned it out. WOW!!! I did not have the time to explore the upper reaches of that narrow canyon. I have a lot to do. I am searching the river via google map satellite imagery and will plot the best way to get in. I luv your enthusiasm and willingness to share your wisdom with all of us rookies. keep up the good work and I will keep you posted on my progress.
