    For the guys who are going for test:
    I HAVE FAILED TWO TIMES, and I was fed up I almost give up to go for test cause I thought I’m good driver especially when u have driving experience. But the truth it’s not about assessors or luck. JUST LEARN THE RULES FOLLOW THE RULES AND MOST IMPORTANTLY PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE, I have pumped the fuels more than two times and I showed 3rd time with me car after I got too many practice. And now successfully passed. My advice to the guys who are going to do exam.
    1. Never ever Panic or Hesitate
    2. Believe that your best driver in the wold and you are going to teach how to drive to assessors
    3. Never ever speed up
    4. Never ever competitive with experience driver
    5. Just follow the rules
    6. Don’t care about other drivers just be calm and slow and drive
    7. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE
    My best wishes to the guys who are going to do the exam. Remember if you fail never give up if pass never forget the mistakes that you have done . All the very best, I’m pretty sure that you will pass the test, all the success will come to you Practice well. God Bless You always. Driver safe!

      I’ve been driving in busy cities in Asia for twenty years. These west Australian roads are insane. I failed my first test because of a dual carriageway and same for the second today
      Pretty ready to give up, gonna do it one more time. I have to move interstate early next year and I’ve heard it’s easier there so if all else fails, there’s that. But damn. Watching the way some of these road users drive I’m like woah!

    Thank you for all your hard work making these videos for us. Passed my PDA at Kelmscott yesterday, first attempt. My assessor was lovely, he talked the entire time, about himself, his family, everything under the sun, not to distract, but to calm my nerves. Wishing everyone else taking their driving test all the best.

    To pass a driving assessment in Western Australia, all candidates must meet the standard by achieving at least all minimum scores of the criteria and pass 4 of the 5 sections (minimum requirement), providing that no endorsements are recorded in the "Discontinue" or "Fail" boxes on the assessment sheet. Feel free to contact us for more details.

    Got a bit of a story for you, if you're willing to listen.
    I first got my L plates at the age of 23 (after life circumstances preventing me doing it earlier)
    I did a few driving lessons from 2 different instructors who told me confidently to do the test as I would pass with flying colours.
    The first time, I booked a test nice and early but sadly failed due to nerves, upsetting and off putting so it took me a whole other year to try again and behold I get the same driving instructor (who was 6 minutes late) in midland again, he comments on how he has taken me before, proceeded to yell at me when i accidently didn't test the indicator properly and completely shattered my confidence, anyway after the test he told me I had failed again! When I asked why? He told me "I don't really have a valid reason, I just don't believe you are ready" he didn't even give me a sheet to say what I failed on, completley devestated by this, it has crippled me from wanting to ever try again. I am now nearly 28 and still on my L plates, this is ruining my life and will do anything to get my license at this point...
    Any ideas on what I should do?
    (Sorry for the rant)

    Practical driving assessment will be DISCONTINUED under following circumstances:
    - In the judgment of the assessor, the candidate is not capable of taking the assessment
    - Candidate's vehicle is not roadworthy
    - Candidate's car is not appropriate for the class or a type of licence they are sitting the test for
    - Candidate's vehicle breaks down during the PDA
    - A bribe or inducement is offered
    - if something that would not typically be present during the PDA adversely affects the authenticity or validity of the test

    - Candidate speeds
    - Candidate disobeys any traffic regulation that immediately or potentially threatens safety
    - Candidate drives without wearing seat belt
    - Candidate fails to respond to a crisis that would normally be anticipated by an experienced driver
    - Candidate causes crisis or potential crisis

    The full reply to ShowtimeShambles RUclips User
    When you go for your practical driving assessment, your seat will be adjusted before you even sit in the car with the assessor (assuming you are using a driving school). Any qualified instructor should be able to guide you to set it up. If your position is incorrect, you may lose marks or fail depending on your distance from all controls. Try extending your arms over the top of the steering wheel as you back is against the seat, if your wrists reach the top of the steering wheel then you will be in a correct position. As a result, when you hold a steering wheel, your arms/elbows will be bent at around 110-degree angle. Also, your knees cannot be fully extended. The height of driver's seat is adjustable. Make sure you are positioned at a comfortable height so you can see over the dashboard. This is an excellent guide. We have following vehicles: Toyota Corolla, Hyundai i30, Getz, Toyota Yarris, Kia Rio and Mitsubishi Lancer. Feel free to contact us www.drivingschoolwa.com/contact/ we would be delighted to help.

    As we are getting close to having a driving teen, we have been asking recently about people who have just gone through the system.
    Three bits of advice keep popping up.
    1. Do not do the test in a private car, use an instructors car. Implies professional lessons.
    2. No-one seems to pass on their birthday.
    3. Do NOT do your test in Mandurah. Experiences from multiple people seems the assessors there are notorious about lying to fail an applicant.

    • @DrivingSchoolWA

    This might be a stupid question but will I get a penalty/fail if I don't do the 'Push and Pull' motion during my PDA when steering and instead to 'Hand over Hand Cross'? I feel as though I'm more comfortable doing the cross over motion when turning.

    • @DrivingSchoolWA
      @DrivingSchoolWA  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Lavenia, the push-pull routine doesn't apply any more. You won't get penalised as long as you don't let both hands off the steering wheel. Also, no palming. Sorry about delayed reply as we have been very busy. Let us know how you go.

  • @Rubeus.Hagrid
    @Rubeus.Hagrid 6 лет назад +5

    Hey I have a quick question. When you drive up to a give way sign and there are no cars at all, do you still completely stop for a few seconds or do you slowly drive through it without stopping at all. Thanks for the video btw very helpful.

    • @DrivingSchoolWA
      @DrivingSchoolWA  6 лет назад +3

      Thanks for watching. No, we don't stop completely if there are no vehicles/pedestrians we need to give way to. Anticipate the intersection on approach and proceed if there is nobody to "give way" to. Proceed with caution and be aware if there is anyone too close behind you. Remember to check your rear view mirror when the speed flactuates

      The best we can suggest is to practice in the simulator as much as you can. We have a video HPT here and simulator links in the description of the video. Good luck, let us know how you go

    Can you fail for too much looking or looking around unnecessarily? My assessor said I didn’t look enough so I might look everywhere next time. I will even look at the back window during a forward park

    • @DrivingSchoolWA
      @DrivingSchoolWA  2 года назад

      It must be reasonable. Try observing better when your speed fluctuates, and when parking. Also, anticipate 'give way intersections/roundabouts' from the distance. Looking everywhere for no reason will not help

    Do we have to turn off the ignition while stopping for left something behind? And thank you for the video, you put in, it is really helpful.

    • @DrivingSchoolWA
      @DrivingSchoolWA  2 года назад +1

      No need to turn the engine off. Rarely the assessor will ask you to do it, but it's not the requirement.
      You are most welcome!

    What speed would be better if there is turning road with intersection around residential areas or quite street? Also when you overtake a parked vehicle on the street can we slow down a car little bit or should’t?

    • @DrivingSchoolWA
      @DrivingSchoolWA  6 лет назад

      Turning 90-degree corners shouldn't be faster than 20 km per hour, sometimes even slower if you can't see the traffic from a distance. Turning right at a T junction may require better anticipation depending on an angle and visibility from a distance on approach. Bear in mind if there is a Stop sign, you must completely stop.

    • @DrivingSchoolWA
      @DrivingSchoolWA  6 лет назад +1

      The answer to your second question, you shouldn't slow down when overtaking a parked vehicle on side of the road unless there is a car from opposite direction that you need to give way to

    Good Evening, if im turning right at the lights and there is two lanes after i turned do I
    A) turn into the right lane then switch to left or
    B) instantly go in to the left lane?
    Thanks.

    • @DrivingSchoolWA
      @DrivingSchoolWA  3 года назад +1

      Straight over to the left lane if safe to do so. If you do it separately (if both lanes are empty) they will mark you for performing two manoeuvres instead of one. Best regards!

  • @dragonzord6615
    @dragonzord6615 3 года назад +1

    For the wrong gear part. Can you be marked wrong for leaving it in second gear if you're going to be turning soon but could go to 3rd? Even if you'll only be in 3rd for only about 5-10 seconds before swapping back down again for a give way corner?

    • @DrivingSchoolWA
      @DrivingSchoolWA  3 года назад

      It depends on the situation, there may be multiple factors impacting every individual situation. Assessors will not mark down for leaving in second gear for a short time providing you are at the correct speed range and not holding anyone up from behind for too long as a result. Cheers!

    • @dragonzord6615

      @@DrivingSchoolWA That's what I thought. I thought it was more about driving at the correct speed and being safe. My instructor thinks that itll be a vehicle management fail if I leave it in 2nd, even though I'm going the right speed with a corner coming up in 100 meters so changing is pointless. Also, for the stop for shopping exercise, can you be marked as a flow fail if you don't get it within the bay perfectly the first time? As in you're slightly closer to one side and drive forward and reverse to fix it. I've been warned about that by my instructor, and it seems kinda petty. As though learners need to be able to park perfectly every time..

    Gday mate, whilst on a roundabout do you need to check your middle mirror side mirror and shoulder check when before you indicate and exit the roundabout?

    • @DrivingSchoolWA
      @DrivingSchoolWA  3 года назад

      Just your rear view mirror as your speed fluctuates on approach to the roundabout and when slowing down inside of a roundabout. Also, know what's behind you and how close when you exit a round about or any intersection for that matter. No need for a shoulder check nor side mirrors while inside of the roundabout. Cheers!

    what is the minimum points per section to pass the PDA? I seem to have difficulties choosing the right driveway for 'left something behind' and im worried the whole task would lose me so many points. same as stopping for shopping.

    • @DrivingSchoolWA
      @DrivingSchoolWA  5 лет назад +2

      Keep it simple. Pick the first available driveway, street or a roundabout (if there's one in the close proximity) and anticipate any traffic throughout the process. Let us know how you go next time

    Im wondering about the particulars of driving a vehicle, for example the steps before turning on the vehicle. If I do the "setting up of the car" in the wrong order or my chair isn't in the right place that my instructor feels isn't adequate. Is this a fail or lose of points? I am from overseas and have been driving for years. However getting my Australian licence has proven to be nothing but, surprising. My instructor has me sitting uncomfortably in my seat commenting that i drive like a "grandma" he has moved my seat yet i find it difficult to reach the brake/accelerator. Its critical that I'm able to obtain my licence but how i have lost almost all confidence and I'm beyond frustrated. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

      Hi there, when you go for your practical driving assessment your seat will be adjusted before you even sit in the car with the assessor. If your position is incorrect you may lose marks or fail depending on your distance from all controls.

    • @DrivingSchoolWA

      Hi there, first of all, they shouldn't fail on static turning. Loss of points would be reasonable but not fail. It's always been a rule though. Some assessors can be unreasonable at times. Not many drivers die because of static turning. They should be focusing on safety aspects of driving more. Best of luck next time. Thank you for watching!

    I have my test next week! One question in relation to hill starts. Am I permitted to use the heel-toe method for hill starts or must I use the handbrake method. Also with turning methods at low speeds, are arms allowed to cross over or is the push-pull technique mandatory at all times regardless of vehicle speed. It just seems very tedious in a car park to be pushing and pulling the wheel where I could be crossing arms over to complete the turn easier and smoother. Thanks for the video!!

      We couldn't reply earlier, unfortunately. There can never be too much practice, so drive as much as possible. The assessors will look at the same criteria everywhere in WA. Looking, signalling, path, movement, flow and vehicle management
