No I didn't ...however I am glad we got to see her evolution..really beautiful...
No, but I'm glad the writers transformed her character into someone we can all admire.
Downton Abbey I really dismissed her as a character and dreaded any episode that featured her prominently.
Not at all! But I found her endearing from day one. Look forward to seeing where she's at in the upcoming movie!

My grandmother was a scullery maid at 14 years old to a Mine Owner and worked up to cook's assistant in Yorkshire. Then she worked in a pub and married the boss's son. They opened a Fish and Chips shop and than as a young widow she had a shop in Yorkshire. She raised two children above the shop. Both her son and daughter had the highest education in scientific fields and granddaughters in good careers.

That is so the way. No one shouldn't get mad at that those who have honestly earned money. Money is not the issue a love of money to the point of harming others is the issue. A lot of good can be done with money. You never know what hard work went into it in a single or even over the generations. The only time to get mad is when the work done wasn't honestly gained. We see that too. My husband even had a relative who lost everything many times and try and try as he may he kept failing by no cause of his own. From wealth was generations of poverty only for my husband to work and pay his way through school and us to work HARD to be on our way to simply upper middle class willing now to lose it all over ethics. This also shows anyone can be the one in the generation that becomes successful or loses everything. My family came legally but could only be pennies paid migrant farm workers during the great depression after leaving communism. We are thankful to be in the US even if we are concerned by some of the things we are seeing with mass lies and invasive and illogical control now. I am hopeful that the American people will wake up and allow people to work freely again.
Downton Abbey is revolutionary in that EVERY SINGLE character of the show has their own story and you can’t help but be genuinely interested in every single one of their lives!

She annoyed me when she was mad at Ivy. The whole part was hypocrisy for when she rejected William.
Daisy was too hard on Ivy. I always felt bad for her in the first season because she had to bear the brunt of Mrs. Patmore's wrath, and then Ivy had to bear the brunt of Daisy's wrath. But at least she helped Ivy go to America.
Mrs. Patmore loves Daisy more than anything,even though she rakes her across the coals quite a bit. She knows what Daisy is capable of,or else she wouldn't bother.
Is it just me or does anyone else miss that feeling of excitement you'd get when the Downton Abbey theme song started playing before a new episode?

I am surprised that she didn't mention the great relationship Daisy developed with Mr Mason. It was so beautiful to see a girl with no family find a father figure who loved her as his own.
That's exactly what I was thinking, having Mr Mason and her life completely changed her, she made drastic improvements in her life because Mr Mason had faith in her, and an unconditional love for her which she too had for him; he was the father she never had. It's just lucky that Mrs Patmore pushed Daisy towards Williams so much, else she wouldn't have had a relationship with his father.

@@SuperLamarrio64DS I think it was great that Daisy had a family in the end, Mrs Patmore as a mother figure and Mr Mason as a father figure, BUT I completely disagree that it was right for Mrs Patmore to push Daisy into the relationship and marriage to William. Who she wanted to be with should have been completely Daisy's choice, regardless of what Mrs Patmore wanted, and to guilt her into marrying him, thus ruining any idea she had of a romantic, special wedding day for herself..just wrong. What if William hadn't died but was permanently disabled? Daisy would have been stuck, but married to him.

Daisy and Mrs. Patmore is EASILY one of the best relationships in the entire show. Love those two as if they were family!
William was a sweet soul. One of my favourite scenes is Mr. Mason talking to Daisy about William being an only child.
Mrs. Patmore telling Daisy she could not be prouder had tears springing from my eyes. Best scene between them, although short and sweet.

@@alexlin4107 in the episode where it for sure came out cause of the thing with James, Carson said most of the staff had a feeling he was it was just never confirmed especially since back then that was VERY wrong and it be extremely bold to make that sort of claim. Also he really wasn’t that nonchalant about it lol

Daisy coming into her own was one of the most satisfying changes in the series!!!
Daisy's conversation with the dowager about her marrying William was one of the cutest and sweetest scene in the whole series.
This is so random but I never noticed that she has such pretty eyes! And that lipstick color looks really good on her.

Her character is so interesting that she could have her own series. Definitely one of my favourite characters on the show along with Edith and Thomas.

Fellowes builds on the qualities he sees in the actors. Wish, though, he had done more with Bates,. Maybe the actor was too busy with other projects.

Daisy - another of Downton's most beloved characters. I hope that in the end, she did find love. Perhaps, in the upcoming movie.
Hope her and the young man from the last season got together in the Movie.. Her and Alfred were good friends...but I liked her for him as well... Like how they elevated her to a top cook under Ms Pattmore..
@@heavenawilson5140 Mrs. Pattmore was very astute to observe that Daisy always went for the wrong guys. She fell for Thomas. She had no time whatsoever for William, even though he obviously was crazy for her. She fell for Alfred when he only had eyes for Ivy. Then when he did come around, she was so over him that it wasn't even funny. Perhaps the stars will align for her and the new footman in the movie. One can only hope. I, too, like her career progression from scullery maid to sous chef. Times were very hard back then for those in service, so any advancement was a major plus. Thankfully, that system of servitude is history, for the most part.

Towards the end of the series, Mrs. Patmore and Daisy definitely had a mother-daughter relationship. I love how it evolved.

A big part of Daisy's charm is that she always feels so sure about how things work, whether it be people, love, or society. It's fun to see that as a positive (when she helps Mrs. Patmore write a letter concerning her nephew) and as a negative (her near idol worship of Mrs. Bunting

The more i think of Daisey's character she kinda was the subtle representative of the overall theme of each season the more I think about it or a representative of the common person dealing with a shift in change for that year or so.

I remember wanting to put my face in my hands when Daisy was not getting that Thomas was gay. I couldn't understand how she didn't get that. Later though, I thought about the time she was living in and how that thought probably would have never entered many peoples heads. Daisy was a really fun character. She gave me a mix of emotions, from rolling my eyes at her childishness, to being proud at her character development. I loved the mother daughter relationship Ms. Pattimore developed over time, and Mr. Mason being so fatherly towards her.

Daisy was a great example of the joys and blessings of everyday relationships and knowing where your heart is. Not every dream involves travel, wealth and adventure.
The way Daisy changes and grows in "Downton Abbey" reminds me of the way Peggy Olson changes and grows in "Mad Men".
Peggy Olson is the best female character in television the transformation the growth is amazing. The only thing Peggy Olson has in common with Daisy from Downton is they are both plain Janes... That is where the similarity ends.
Daisy was ALWAYS my favourite character of all. She is genuine, outgoing, ambitious, smart, and with a great heart.
She was selfish and very careless with the feelings of others. A very annoying character.
Class structure was very rigid. The service class was expected to stop school learning at a young age and focus on whatever job/trade they went into for the rest of their lives. But as we've see with several of the downstairs people at Downton were just simply smarter and eventually it showed!

Daisy and Violet were by far my favorite characters on Downton Abbey. I've never laughed so hard at their hilarious comments. These characters really endeared themselves to the Downton Abbey fans.

I always thought Mr. Mason and Mrs. Patmore would marry, and Daisy would live on the farm with them as an ‘adoptive’ daughter, finally giving her the ‘family’ she deserved.

That first episode... everyone was so mean and back stabbing and cruel. Except for Daisy and Mr Bates. I hated EVERYONE but them, and my need to see what happened to them was the only thing that got me to watch the second episode. Loved every episode after that, BTW.

My father passed recently he was 88. This was his favourite show. I did not think much of it at first. Soon after he passed, I decided to rewatch it ( I had only seen the first season). I am now hooked and currently into Season 5.
God rest your dear father's soul. My grandmother, of blessed memory, also loved Downton. I kick myself now that I didn't watch it with her regularly.

Mrs. Patmore looks so much like my mother. In fact, not only does she look like my mother in the face, but my mother also had curly red hair and an equally feisty personality.
Mrs. Patmore is my mother’s doppelgänger. My mother is now deceased but when I watch Downton Abbey I am always reminded of her.
She plays this role so well. I actually believed the actress was going to be almost exactly as her character. Wow. Nicely done!

I really love Daisy's journey - she has taken her chance in her job , she has grown up into a beautiful , sweet and educated young woman - she is a wonderful example for every woman in the world even today ... and who knows - she has found a sweet family = Mrs Patmore is a wonderful mom and her father in law is the best father she could get ... our lovely Daisy might take her chance again to choose love ... 💝

I really love how the relationship between daisy and Ms. Patmore really evolved as the series went on. They started out as completely different and on completely different levels, but then became so close, still on different levels, but treated each other with love and respect as if they were equals.
Ngl the writers treat her like she barely aged even though the show was meant to span over a decade. Even when she develops political views she's treated as an idealistic, naive child. Since Downton was written pretty much exclusively by a tory member of the House of Lords, it's not really too surprising. Kind of disappointing she didn't get better development.
I truly enjoyed watching Daisy's evolution.

I never in me life became so enthralled in the lives of fiction characters as I have with this lot! To believe I never watched when aired, just recently started to watch series, I saw the movie and now on last season, I think when I watch the last episode I will cry me eyes out!

Daisy was always one of my favorite characters. Such a story arc. From an insecure orphan who is the bedrock of the house to a confident, educated, independent young woman surrounded by people who truly care for her. On top of that, even as an American I could tell she wasn’t having to put on a completely fake Yorkshire accent, but rather turning her natural accent up a notch. Made it that much more real.

She was amazing.....a tween of the Edwardian and post Edwardian era. She did it beyond any that I have seen in other dramas.....
I am a tad late on responding to this here (only 4 years later) and I didn't seep through all the comments to see if anyone already said what I am about to write but Daisy's body language (the actress) is so well and clearly demonstrated in what she is not verbally stating. It's absolutely classic and hilarious. My main thing has always been psychology and I so read the non verbal clues. But the facial expressions (and not just those of Daisy's) but body language.... What a hoot to watch.
I'm similar to Daisy I push guys away. She's soooo adorable and I love her journey

I first saw Downton Abbey in a week. I watched every episode on a little screen in one week. I like the refresher before seeing the movie. There are many people who treat men as Daisy treated men. Women who succeed in professional careers have to be single minded and ignore or be impervious to taking care of men, since that is what happens.
