    I've done this and it worked okay for me but only if I didn't use any basecoat at all and just put it on naked nail.... but what I like it the best for is putting on the skin around the nail before doing gradients with a sponge - makes for way easier and quicker clean up on the skin....of course now everyone is saying to just get some liquid latex and that works even better for that purpose...love that SH greyish shimmery polish btw as well as what is on your nails!

      oh, no basecoat- ok. i heard someone say the exact opposite so that's why i tried it that way :) such a good idea to put it around the nail for gradients- if only i'd remember next time! :) thanks Michelle!

    It works great for me I use 2 coats!! i love it. I wear acrylics and the only time I will wear glitter is if I use the Elmer's glue. I never use a base under the Elmer's Glue it doesn't come off as easy. With out a base coat it comes off normally in one piece

    I diluted the glue with a couple of drops of water for my peel off base coat. My nail polish brush wasn't to stiff, it was just like as though applying a thicker polish. It worked great for me that way. I was able to peel the polish off mostly in one big chunk. I tried it with OPI liquid sands by the way. Hope this helps girl.

    Cool review. I've been doing the glue method for a long time now. For the brush issue, what I do is just pour a small amount of glue onto a piece of paper when I'm ready to use it and then I take a nail art brush and use that to apply the glue to my nail. I rinse it the brush out after each use with warm water so it's always ready to go and the brush works fine. To remove you can try removing with your nails under water or breaking the polish seal and getting the glue wet - the water will instantly start to dissolve the glue and make removal easier :D

      oh, good idea about the water- i'm going to try that! thanks norma, as always :)

    I have tried the OPI and Nail Pattern Boldness peel off base coats. For those they will peel off in one piece, however the polish etc. has to be completely dry and that usually means the next day. They are great for full on glitters, Indies etc. The drawback for these bases is that I don't get much more than a day before the polish comes off. But since I change my polish daily pretty much it saves a hell of a lot of time. If I try to remove the polish before it's completely dry it will 'smush' like your demo showed. Love your swatch videos!!!!

      mmhmm, i definitely think this is best for next day or later removal. Thanks, doll! :)

    I LOVE your lip colour Phoebe! I really want to try the glue base coat because I am always peeling my nail polish off or using acetone and my nails are so weak. What an awesome video to see it in action! xo

    In my case I have just use the glue method when wearing glitter polish (w/o base coat and with top coat) and from my experience it works really good (wearing the glitter polish during 2 or 3 days and not changing your routine at all (having a shower, doing the chores, etc etc) then you just have to use your cuticle remover stick or even your nail to push it off! :D

    • @PhoebeMoon
      @PhoebeMoon  10 лет назад

      yes, it seems to work well for that :)

    Yellow Stopper is definitely not good for peeling off right away, but it does let me wear a mani for one or two days and then peel it off really easy in the shower. Great for glitter bomb manis!!

    I bought the yellow stopper after I learned that's what Lacquer Loon used and I got the same results as you did, didn't remove everything and took me longer to push it off than it would've just using acetone. I mix glycerin & water with pure acetone so it doesn't seem as harsh for me. I don't care for the glue method or OPI peel off either, it takes to long to dry and doesn't come off completely. I've heard of "swatch stickers" that are coming out from a few brands now but that also sounds like it will be more trouble than it would be worth. Maybe one day someone will come out with something seriously revolutionary *shrug*

    • @PhoebeMoon
      @PhoebeMoon  10 лет назад

      haha Kellie- yes...it's still the waiting game for us to find that perfect product. I must admit- it's frustrating to see that these two methods work well for other swatchers and have it not work for me...but hey- what ya gonna do? :)

    Hey Phoebe! I purchased the OPI peel off base coat and I'm pretty sure it recommended not using a top coat. Also, it recommended to remove the manicure that you did with their base coat in less than 48 hr preferably one day. I can tell you from experience that I wore full glitter for three days and I was not able to "peel" off w OPI product. Great share! I've wanted to try this method as it would certainly be more economical! ;)

    • @PhoebeMoon
      @PhoebeMoon  10 лет назад

      yes lol definitely more economical. do you think picking up the opi one is worth a try?

      I want to try this, too! I'll be filling my OPI Glitter Off with Elmer's when it's finished.

    Recently I bought NYC base for glitters and it's basically... a PVA glue. The only way to make it dry faster is to heat it with hair dryer. But it didn't work well any way. I'm really happy with Skintruth non-acetone remover though:) I'm amazed, ingredients are almost the same like in my older remover but this one literally dissolves the polish:) Good luck in your search!

    i have the yellow stopper peel off base coat and i find that it works much much better on glitter and textured polishes than any other random polishes so maybe that would work better for you?

      definitely need to try it with some glitter! thanks so much doll!

    Instead of acetone I totally recommend the Cutex Spa Formula remover - it is a glitter formula and it conditions your nails and does a great job removing. I find it as good as ZOya Remove.- I try to only use acetone for around the nail cleanup if needed. xoxo

      Phoebe Moon RIte-Aid! In fact they had it $1 off last time I was there- which may be good until tomorrow's ad comes out. They seem to be the one of the only chains that doesn't sell only their own remover. I searched FOREVER to find it once I heard how good it was.

      Phoebe Moon Good- meanwhile I just bought three more of the L'Oreal grays- and I watched your video with the wonderful six foot tall theatrically gay guy who runs the beauty department at that particular walgreens :-) He's now a fan.

    Ok...so the yellow stopper ...you said it wasn't quite wet but it wasn't really dry either right? I mean, you could basically fingerprint /mess up the mani easily? This was interesting! Thanks for sharing XOXOXO

    • @PhoebeMoon
      @PhoebeMoon  10 лет назад

      i haven't noticed that it makes the mani mess up super easy, that's the thing- i wear it under manis all the time. But when I went to go try the peel off thing after 5 minutes of drying, that's the result I get- interesting huh :)

    my nail polish comes off in one piece like someone just pops it off in a day or two putting it on, would a base coat stop that and if so what would you suggest?

    • @PhoebeMoon
      @PhoebeMoon  10 лет назад

      i really like the bonding basecoat from orly- and the nail strengthener from OPI, you could try one of those and see if it works for you

    Maybe thats why you have to diluted the glue with water!!! I like you to try it like that and make a video to see it pleaseeee.. Thanks for your help.. Nice video :)

    You lipstick reminds me of Karina Kaboom! Lol, she wears that color quite often I think.
    Yeah, I don't think that the glue base method is ideal for swatching because 1) you have to wait for it to dry and it has a long dry time , and 2) it's only worth the hassle for glitter polishes ( in my opinion)
    Also, in my experience, it works best applied to a clean nail. I noticed you used a regular base coat as your first layer. I know it sounds scary but I have never had it damage my nails because it simply does not permanently adhere to flesh or nails. Oh, and I usually apply two very thin coats so that it is thick enough to peel off but thin enough so that dry time is short and prevents pooling.
    Anyway, I'd say skip using it for swatching and give it another try when you find a super gorgeous glitter bomb that you want to wear for a day or two.
    Thanks for the video! Hope you had a great Christmas!

    • @PhoebeMoon
      @PhoebeMoon  10 лет назад

      yep, that seems to be the case- skip it for swatching but if i know i wanna wear a glitter for a few days this might be ideal! xoxo thanks!

    Your level of gorgeousness displayed in this video is really quite annoying. I haven't even started watching the video yet. You've said like 12 words and I felt instantly compelled to write this. You should know how annoyingly beautiful you are. On to watching the rest of the video...
