Now this is how you do a how-to video! No music to distract, clear instructions. You planned it too and had everything you needed. On top of all that, you answered all my questions. Great job!
Your earthly purpose was to teach. I have been looking for months for a video to recover some costumed jewelry. Thank you for informing me and sharing with everyone. Ase’
Hope TheNovelist you items are amazing. Do you use precious stone beads? If so, do you spray those or just plastic beads and the metals? I make jewelry as well
This is a great idea. I was using clear nail polish; much more time consuming, more expensive and quite a mess when looking at the jewelry piece while tipping the nail polish as it pours out on everything. Thank you and you do have a lovely voice.
Thank you so much for sharing! I find lots of nice pieces at my local beauty supply store. I keep them in tightly sealed plastic bags but still get some tarnishing after a while. Will def use this tip!!!
I finally was able to get the sound to work. This is amazing! I have spent so much money over the years on great costume jewelry only to have it tarnish after just a few wearings. I thought I had acid in my skin! I am very excited to try this out - I am very excited about this. Thanks so much for sharing. You are the jewelry Goddess :)
Did this work for you? How long did it last? I make leather earrings and I'm trying to find ways to prevent the earring hardware from tarnishing. Thanks. 😊
Great tips about putting tape over the stones and not over-doing it with the spray! I use Krylon Crystal Clear and like to let it dry before turning my pieces over and spraying the other side. What I have noticed, though, is that the spray slightly dulls the finish on your jewelry, so if you have a super shiny piece, just spray it once and see if you like it. I know some people like to spray each side 4 times, which may be overkill. Thanks for sharing your tips and tricks :0)
great tip for sure..thanks for sharing..just wondering out of curiousity sake would these pieces that have been sprayed have to be touched/sprayed again in a couple of months or so? or would they be alright for awhile?
Thank you for this video. So many other posts talk about expensive processes and expensive products. And many of them don't work. This is perfect for my silver night lamps. Thank you again.
lovekisses99 I went to wal-mart tonight and purchased some of polyurethane and I have sprayed my costume jewelry and I am excited and cannot wait to see how this goes. I also used your masking tape method on the jewelry that has stones in them and the stones are fine the tape really protected them and they arent clouded, so thanks a billion for this insite that you have provided me because I have tons of costume jewelry and I never feel like I got my money's worth because it starts to fade, but thanks again for this method and this brilliant idea!
I read majority of comments, not all, but many many comments.were.directed to how long does the initial coating last?, Can you give a double coating?,etc. You did not respond to.any of this type of question.that was asked many.times.
I know this is WAY after the fact (6+yrs) & repetitive, but this video is exceptional! You've got a voice like butter (butter makes everything better! 💜), your speech is not rushed, it's very clear & holds your attention for the entire video. That seems to be extremely rare now. I bet you're a great public speaker too😊. Like another person said, you actually put thought into your video, planning it out before starting, which allows you to maintain a calming but purposeful lesson. You should really think about teaching people how to make videos, prep work, what/ how you'll say things, etc. You are short & sweet & to the point with the info; you don't hem & haw over yourself & ramble on & on about Lord knows what. You've also done a great job of having NO distractions... for you & for the viewer. I could listen to you ALL DAY LONG! I don't really care what it's about either. VERY SOOTHING VOICE...I JUST LOVE IT! ❤🤍💙
Thank you! Looks like I found a mutual jewelry addict! Lol. I will give this a try for sure. My body is very acidic and tarnishes jewelry very FAST. acidic isn't all bad, cancer hates an acidic environment so maybe it's helping me in a small way. I'm also gonna try coating some jewelry pieces with resin and see how that does, if it works it will last even longer! I don't have much costume jewelry because of the acidity issue but I have a few pieces I just love so I hope 1 or both of these work! Again thank you!!! ❤ ❤ ❤
Thanks Robin, I purchased the spray a few months ago wasn't sure how to go about applying, but this video was very helpful to me. Thanks for sharing"!!
Thanks for sharing this helpful tip, its useful for new jewelry for prevention but is there a way to fix nice costume jewelry that has already been tarnish or starting to tarnish?
You have a great voice! You should be a narrator. Thanks for the tips, its too bad these jewelry companies don't have the items treated before they are sold!
Wow thanks!!! I've been buying some real cool rings from Wish and was worried they would turn. I've used clear nail polish and it didn't work great. I'm definitely going to buy the polyurethane. Thank you again.
oh i have a little tiny can of polyuerethane clear... i got it for resin pieces years ago i wonder if i can just dip the necklace chain into it or should i brush it on?
does it last long i bought 2 alloy pendants and i wasnt told theyre alloy so im trying to research some type of sealing stuff i can buy really im gutted
OMG! I'm so glad you shared this with us! WOW, WOW, WOW! I only wear costume jewelry and clip on earrings. I'm running out tomorrow and picking up a couple of cans! Thank you so much for sharing!
What if it's already tarnished? What if it already has rust odor? And if these things haven't occured yet.. then can it prevent rust odor? Or skin from turning green ? Can you see the spray at all on the jewelry? Tons of unanswered questions.
Hi, I have some questions I hope you can answer. Do you have to re-apply the polyurethane on the jewelry? If so, how often? If never needed except once would be better just let me know. Also, what kind of tape do you use? I don't want to use a tape that would damage the parts of the jewelry I don't want to coat. And what kind of paper do you recommend to use to spray the jewelry so that the jewelry won't stick to the paper? I know you mentioned a craft board but I don't have one and don't want to buy one. What do you recommend using that is not expensive and jewelry won't stick? Thanks a million and hope to hear back from you.
Hate to be redundant, but I agree with everyone else. Your voice is so soothing. You should do a podcast; I'd listen to it! Awesome video and great tips 😊
I Have a question, does the spray paint cause irritation on the skin? if you can please help me out I would greatly appreciate it thank you!! Love your video
I watched this video for the first time yesterday and WOW am I greatful for you. Instructions clear and easily understood I can't wait to see how mine turns out. One question tho is it ok to do 2 coats??!
@@selfmadethejourney so it really does work and I have Bangles that I wore for like a month and mind you I sweat because I tan so I take them off before hand but put them bk on and they last. My necklaces have yet to fade and I been wearing them on and for over 2 months. I literally sprayed everything except the diamonds. My rings have lasted a little shorter but I wash my hands a lot and I never removed the rings so. And listen played jewelry last way longer than just costume btw. Hope that's helpful lol😁

Thank you for sharing this video cause your right costume jewelry prices have gone up and I want my stuff to last. So thanks again for making this video....
Stephanie Procopio That's what I am worried about. I really want to do tho it amazing trick. I buy so many jewellery that I have to throw away. This look amazing. But scared of toxic I don't know what to do. Will you do?
Hi Robin... once the pieces are sealed have you noticed that it affects your skin becoming discoloured (ie darker) where there is contact? I have been thinking about trying to seal my lovely costume pieces to try and stop this happening... any thoughts?
some polyurathane has wood stain in it if you have gold jewelery you wouldnt knowtice but it maybe comming off on your skin its actually toxic stuff I dont think you have to worry about it after it dries thoe there are clear gloss polyurathane with no stain in them. there is also more ecofrendly stuff you dont have to worry about its called varathane or urathane im not sure its water baised so you dont have to worry about it they are always together on the store shelves along side the polyurathane. so read the labels they should say water baised on it and have an eco friendly icon on the front also their is high gloss and normal gloss use your discression on which one you want but make sure no stain.
