I Hated Soil Blocks Till The Swiftblocker!

- The first time I saw the Swiftblocker online was an "ah ha" moment for me that left me wondering why this tool took so long to get into my life. And now that I have one on the farm, I'm completely converted. I will be making a lot of soil blocks over the next few years, and I want all of you to know about the Swiftblocker too!
Though I am currently using this on my flower farm, this would be a very valuable tool for a veggie farm as well. And with the option of the 72 block maker, you could grow larger seedlings like peppers and tomatoes, as well as the quicker transplants like lettuce in the 200.

Serina, I swear, Swift Blocker needs to send you a big fat check for doing this great commercial about their product. Come on, Swift Blocker, send her a healthy sum of money! Because of Serina and Ian's previous coverage of this tool, and now this "commercial", I went to Swift Blocker website. I never would've thought of doing soil blocking because my hands aren't strong. After what Serina said about hand strength, I may very well buy the Swift Blocker 72, and possibly the spacer.
Thank you Serina! Impressively done!
It does appear they are paying her as the video is labeled a paid promotion, and I agree they deserve a good kickback for their spokesmanship
@@ArtByKarenEHaley Where does it say paid promotion?
@@ArtByKarenEHaley Oh I saw it at the end of the video.
@@ArtByKarenEHaley you're right! I totally missed it - went back to look at it. I feel a bit silly now. But I'm glad that's the case. Thank you for pointing it out!
@@ArtByKarenEHaley yea it's a commercial
edit: I clicked the link, omg over $300?!
So good to see Serina healthy again. Regards from Brazil.
That's a cool system. I love that it means not saving plastic trays year to year.
I am sooo loving these 2 (at least) videos per week, you guys. Thank you for all your hard work. :)
I’m so glad you’re all feeling better. I remember you being a little down thinking about how Covid was setting you back, but, things are looking up!
There's that sassy Serina! Love the swift blocker..... I bent mine. I didn't back off when there was too much resistance. That is an important tip!
Oh good lord, woman. We might have to keep you away from Q-tips!
Swift Blocker, you need to offer a healthy discount to customers who use the link through Serina's channel. I'm waiting. Please make that happen soon.
They area tiny company still. 2 adults and their small kid. To offer rebates, companies need to hike the ’regular price’
No kidding. Almost 500 dollars, thats insane.
Yeah.... I was interested until I saw the price.
Seems useful for commercial growers, but what home gardener is ever going to shell that out for starting seeds?
Amazon has one for around $40 with an overall 4 star review.
@@patriciacole8773 now there's a clever low-cost idea! Thank you
You make such good videos with no bs! Thank you so much, I would have never heard of the Swift Blocker without you. I also enjoyed your video on the Mars Hydro light versus weaker lights; I used to grow cannabis with a WONDERFUL Mars Hydro light, and you addressed the main concern I foresaw, which was that the light is so powerful I suspected it would burn my seedlings unless I budgeted them twice as much vertical space as I do now. I never feel like I have to watch through a bunch of gimmicks or untested ideas with your videos, you’re very practical and curious. Thanks for sharing all this with us!
Swiftblocker looks so awesome. The Swiftblocker reduces the use of plastic trays. Wow! good to know. Useful tips for farmers, homesteaders, and gardeners. Thanks.
WOW! Swiftblocker is a game changer. Time is money, and boy! What a time saver. Great informative video. Thanks!
I have been looking for something like this!
Very cool tool.
That looks like a really easy tool to work with. Thanks for sharing it❣️❣️❣️❣️
I'm glad you found something that works for you.
Wow thanks for the useful information and sharing your trade tools🎉
Nicole from Flower Hill Farm needs one of these tools!!
Oh my gosh yes she does especially now that she's running a nursery, if she decides to start a lot of her own plants (knowing her, oh yeah she loves to start seeds so she'd love one of these)
This is mind blowing! I could never get on the soil block train because the soil blocker was too challenging for my small lady hands to handle. I already have joint problems... This seems like the perfect solution!
So tempting, but probably not justifiable for an allotment... Sounds like a kind of roller-nipple tool is needed. Short dowels sticking out of a rolling pin. I hope the trays save you time for some fun this year!
Awesome!
Watching this grow and fill out will be amazing ❤
What an excellent product. I use soil blockers but I only plant about 300 seedlings a year so I don't know if it would be worth my while to buy one but...I probably will LOL. Cheers from Ottawa🍁
As a seed business that relies on soil blocks (I work with Cucurbits that have delicate root systems) this video was really helpful. I am looking at getting the new Swiftblocker 2" 50 with dibbles. If it works, it would definitely be a game changer for my time. For those of us trying to run a business, the price of the SwiftBlocker is more than paid for by the savings in time and energy output.
This is great! I have been contemplating getting a soil blocker but have held out due to some of the reasons you mentioned in your video. This is making my decision to switch over an easy one. Thank you!!!!
The Ladbrooke soil blocker is a great tool, easy to use, not hard on the hands and I have never heard of them breaking unless you throw it on the ground. No reason to change.
I've been wanting to get in to soil blocks, this was really helpful to see an alternative to the traditional blockers!
So glad to see you feeling better Serena! I have limited space and a micro farm..1/2 acre for flowers. I left soil blocking this yr., they always turned into concrete. Just pro mix in trays now. ...but I'm in need of more space and I don't have it with trays! I will have to try promix with my mini soil blocker. Wow I bet that will be alot quicker, too! On a different note...so sorry about your loss guys.
All I can say is WOW!
I absolutely love my mini 75 wish I would have gotten the 200 right off the bat.
i never understood the soil blockers. I am glad you made this so ppl dont get hyped and buy one.
I’m definitely going to have a swift blocker for next season! I struggled quite a bit this year trying to start so many flower seeds to add to my pollinator garden along with my vegetables. I usually use the 2” soil blocker but I used that mini blocker so I could start more flowers this year and save space under my grow lights. But it is just too small for me to keep moist and the size on that Swift blocker looks perfect.❤
I wonder if you could test making them ahead of time. Put some in the freezer and dry stack some, see how they do. That would speed up the next season even more.
We pre make soil blocks in bulk and then let them dry out. Once they are dry, you can stack them. Ian will make me 20+ trays at a time, because it makes a bit of a mess to pull everything out, and then I will rehydrate them as needed
@@YouCantEatTheGrass I had no idea that could be done! Fantastic!
Great idea!
Swiftblocker Rocks. Try a good flexible paint scraper as well to quickly scoop up excess soil off your bench and back into your swiftblocker etc.
This looks like such an awesome tool! I already sent links to some of my garden groups. If i have a larger plot of land i would definitely get one of these.
Everybody is having them now I’m so tempted to buy them!😩
I went to the website and was about to order but they were expensive and then I had an idea! I filled a 72 cell tray with seed starting mix, soaked it with water and then inverted it in a full tray. I’ll let you know if it works!!
I definitely am interested to know how your experiment turns out! I'm on SocSec, and this could be a game changer for me. Best of luck!!!
Trotsky would approve of this
Awesome to know I can just use Promix. This was my first year soil blocking. I had mixed results with the exception of Lisianthus. Lisianthus loves soil blocks! I feel like some of the problems I encountered were due to the recipe using coco coir and a coco coir based soil, the plants did not grow very well. They germinated pretty great, but then just sat there. Sbapdragons sat there and then dampened off. I am goimg to use Promix next year.
Love it!
I LOVE your videis. You convinced me to buy the Mars Hydro lamp. Do you still use it, and are getting great use out of it.
I wish I would have seen this video before ordering two soil blockers. The Swifblocker 200 costs $345. That is a MASSIVE RIPOFF!!! Look up People, there are RUclips videos on how to make your own soil blocker. The concept of the Swiftblocker is very easy to replicate. You can even have a custom one made minus the steep price I'm on it!!!!!!
Brilliant.....
I will happily take your ladbrooke blockers
The "" Veggie Boys video "". Seen it using that this Year. And it's quick and easy.
Feel free to send me all your old soil blockers, i will gladly pay the shipping. :)
ah, i wish i could buy it from hungary, but unfortunately i cant.. very nice tool, btw, i am happy for you guys that you are having and using it!
They made it aslo in Czech republic - it is called ProSoilblocker
You can easily get it they will send it by post :)
@@danielapittnerova4293 wow really? Thanks for the info!

I'm on a limited income, and I think this is a great idea! I hope it works for JoceyDee. I may try it myself while waiting to hear if she is successful!
On us site the mini are out of stock! But canada has them, does not make sense!
Little discount would be nice for Serinas viewers!
There is a seed machine that’s ran by air . It pushes the seed into the hole. Look into it !
It sounds great but I do not like it. The videos make it look easy but I cannot remove the top as shown. After many tries I have given up. Trying to get the proper water mixture is difficult as some of it is too dry and some is to wet unless I keep mixing forever. I am going to try winstrip trays as they say to use dry mix and I will not have the problem of lifting the top. Wish me better luck with winstrip vs swift blocker.

Have you watched the veggie boys here on you tube? They seem to have a great system, too!
Wow!
🤣😂🤣🤣 Weird magic potions.😂😂
Did you see farmer Jesse from NoTill Growers video on this weeks ago
I have yet to try SOIL BLOCKING.
Looks nice, but I almost dropped over at the crazy price tag!

@@kele1264here's an addendum to that idea.
Fill the Cell Tray with soil and poke your seed into the center of each cell full of soil
Add something permeable that wicks water to the bottom of your solid tray before you flip (it guarantees the excess water doesn't get stuck in the cells to rot the seeds, and could be helpful for later watering the seeds in the soil balls
@@priestesslucy 👍
I wish I would have seen this before I bought a 3/4 and a 2 inch blocker. I would have bought a 75.
Geez! Swiftblocker looks great, but I can’t justify spending over $300f for that.
Glad it is working out for you! Agreed! You need to get paid! Lol
It’s for profesionnals. If you save 10 hours of labour, it pays for itself
And they're a small family company. The price is justified because it can be a life time tool. If you don't like the price buy a small blocker or continue with plastic trays or you can buy those peat trays.
Awesome! How easy is it to water the seedlings so that the blocks don’t crumble apart? It doesn’t look like there’s much room for bottom watering in the 1020 tray. Do you just mist the top?
Wish they had a more budget friendly size for the ordinary home gardener, at $250 no way is that do-able for 1 tool
❤
So you just use straight Promix and water? I have a swift blocker and I tried that and they just crumble when I push them out. I know I'm doing something wrong. I've tried adding more water, less water, and even worm castings. But I just can't get them to hold together 😪
I have the soil blocker that serena hates..
Wish I could afford one

Have you tried Winstrips?
Where are the flowers
This video is only about the Swift Blocker. The flowers are busy growing.
I love it but it cost way to much. I wish I could get them.😢😊
lf u wanna see how it works go to 5:15 & 6:19 and avoid all the other stuff talked about
i'm really interested in the swiftblocker, but I love having the ability to start in the microblocks and plug them into the 2" blocks after germination (even though the 2" blocks with the square dibbler in the top are a nightmare to make). Maybe this is an option the company could look into.
RUclips is turning into 100% marketing its so... boring
$345 though 😂😂😂 looked like a good product but not for the price
How is this 500 dollars? Get real.
