Another great episode bud. Love seeing that part of you tracking down that bird, a true sportsman 👊🏻
Appreciate that! Nothing worse than losing a bird you for sure took out. Thankful I found him
@@ChasingGreen I’ve been there before. Even had to call a dog off once cause the tide was pulling it out faster than he could swim.
True sportsman, stand-up guy, brother in Christ, and a world-class retriever. 😂
🤣 appreciate it!
Great video, that wind tide was pretty wild! Definitely something that's overlooked by a lot of guys. Much respect for tracking down that greenhead too!
Thanks Thomas!
Great video! Really liked your simple approach to concealment in hiding in the shadows rather than trying to construct some big ugly blind!
Jake seals up his Master Hunter with a perfect score in the blind retrieve. 🥇👊🏻
Hunting strategies proves hunter a special person.
Thanks for the nice upload, from Pakistan.
Appreciate it!
Waters lookin good this year
Should be a good one.👀🫣
Great hunt, great video, amazing effort on the retrieval!
Most people don’t have experience with really large bodies of water. I am on Lake Michigan a lot and we will have leftover waves (from the previous 24 hrs) from one direction, current from another and wind from yet another direction. The lake does what it wants when it wants.
Sweet is correct. Nice hunt.
Appreciate it 👊🏻
good retrieve
Appreciate it
What kind of hearing protection are you wearing now?
Still pro ears, just a different version. Those are the stealth 28s hts
Great vid and hunt, just subscribed and have watched so many vids. What shells do you like and brands and stuff would you recommend? I'm a Kent user myself but wondering what everyone else is using.
Appreciate the support. I normally use kent as but in this video I was using federal. That particular load shoots terrible out of my setup, hence the having to shoot some twice and having the one fly off. In my experience, if your going to shoot steel the most important thing is to get a heavy, slow load. 1 3/8ths ounce in 3 inch #2, 3's, or 4's is head and shoulders above everything else. That high velocity crap is garbage. You can't shoot steel fast and it hold together.
@@ChasingGreen that’s what I’ve heard, I appreciate the reply, I like Kent but it’s definitely the more expensive option😂
What choke are you using? That looked like some far shots.
They weren't out of my confident range. I use a mueller passing but the ammo I was using that day was a terrible ammo for my setup. I had an old box that I was just trying to use up and if you notice it was struggling on all the birds. Had to shoot a couple twice...I actually plan on doing a video on it at some point. When I was slowing some of those scenes down during editing you can actually see how terrible the pattern is when I was shooting birds on the water. Ton of wild flyers. My normal ammo choice is perfect though and all those shots would have been money. Just a good example of how a bad combo can make a major difference.
Stationed out in Germany right now, heading to Colorado next. Really want to start duck hunting.
Couple of questions!
What do you do with the duck once you’re done? May sound dumb, but curious. Processing station? Do it yourself? “Give them” to a butcher, basically just doing it for fun?
Then 2nd, about how much should I expect to spend on a decent set up?
Glad to hear you are thinking about getting into duck hunting, hope you give it a shot! The vast majority of duck hunters process the game themselves, although in some of the most popular duck hunting destinations like arkansas, they do have people who will process for you. It's a very simple process though that is really quick. There are some videos online. Duck is one of the best meats out there and can be cooked a variety of ways. I usually grill the breast like a steak, medium rare is key, and make some sort of sauce to go with. You can definitely get stuff cheap too. Facebook marketplace is a good start. Don't worry about getting expensive stuff in the beginning.
Still wondering why you don't have a good dog?
Will get one someday I'm sure. Would be just too much right now. I travel so much and with the whole film thing, it would be another element to contend with. I plan on getting one at some point though.
Bro, invest in a trained retriver.
