If i was doing tank action in BF4 i would be paranoid 24/7 that a jet, helicopter and support/recon sneaking in with C4 could occur at literally any time. Turn a blind eye for a second and boom, tank is now firework
You can change all minimap settings somewhere in the gameplay options. Size, transparency, zoom level etc.. And proximity scan is an upgrade from the gunner seat. Maybe the random gunners I get here have it enabled, but I don’t. It also only spots people close to the tank. I guess I got lucky with my team spotting a lot of enemies.

You just have to play a fair bit less aggressive because you can't aim like you can on PC. My highest streak on console (from memory) in a tank was 141-0 and 223-0 in an LAV, obviously slower in terms of kills per minute. My loadout consists of AP shell, HMG, active protection, thermal optics and thermal camo

@@DanielHernandez-df6xk Thermal camo is wayyyy better than the other options. Quick unspot doesn't look like a huge benefit at first but it actually does so much. You should pay attention to how much a regular tank appears on the map for everyone to see throughout a match and compare that to someone using thermal camo on the enemy team. You tend to catch people by surprise a lot when you're not highlighted on the map or 3D spotted all the time :D

But painting targets via the tank is awesome because it helps the infantry with javs to take quick pot shots across the map. The driver should still keep the HMG as a second. The only map this is an exception is Silk Road imo.
I always use thermal camo, you can tell by the color of my tank and its brightness in thermal optics. Thermal camo is by far the best tank upgrade. It unspots you after 3 seconds instead of something around 12 seconds. Enemies such as engineers, c4 quads, helicopters and jets .. will focus you a LOT less because of how fast you disappear from the map. This also gives you massive advantages in tank battles, allowing you to reposition behind cover without them knowing where you went. It takes enemies longer to lock your tank with lock-on weapons and it hides you from commander vehicle scans too. The only downside of thermal camo is the fact you get mobility hit from lock-ons and rpg’s to the side. However, this way you’ll learn to position your tank better to avoid these attacks while also learning to not expose your sides to areas with a lot of enemies. Thermal camo will make you a better tanker. Relying on reactive armor to survive mobility hits will not. And autoloader is unnecessary in public matches, that is something we sometimes use in competitive matches to win tank fights because it lowers reload speed between firing shells. @@LB-np5zv seat switching doesn’t work when you have a gunner and getting out and back in again is too risky. Both are annoying to do as well. Not a single decent tanker I know actually runs autoloader as his main upgrade

how is this sort of killstreak even possible? all it would take is a single guy with JDAMs in the attack jet and 90 degree vertical gun runs to kill you those sorts of pilots that come around, they can control the entire server singlehandedly

Good pilots like that are pretty rare. Thermal camo keeps me off the mini map a lot so it’s harder to find me from up there as well
