The best scene in American Gangster IMO was when he was talking to his brother about "the loudest one in the room is the weakest one in the room". .......that's such wisdom.....and as the point in the movie shows "loud" doesn't always mean vocally. And in the end it's what drew all that heat from those cops that brought him down. It was the underlying story in the movie.

Such an amazing storyline, characters, soundtrack and led by two legendary actors, Denzel Washington and Russel Crowe who brought so much emotion, and action to it. What makes the film even greater is the many lessons and lines that are brought up, and what's even greater is how it's based on a true story. Honestly, worth watching no matter what. My Mother and her aunt remembers Bumpy Johnson well, she knew his wife in passing. After Bumpy died a lot of guys use to name drop him trying to build up their own reputations in Harlem, I think Frank Lucus was just one of many doing the same. My Mom left Harlem in the late 60's before things got really crazy, but her family stayed and got caught up in the heroin game. Frank Lucus did make a name for himself, but we always heard that the Italians Bumpy worked with wouldn't work with Frank, and that going around them was out of necessity not ambition. We do know that frank and Ike Atkinson came from the same area of North Carolina, and they may have been cousins or something, but we always thought that Frank was taking credit for a lot of things Atkinson was doing. Thank you for the brilliant breakdown of a truly amazing film. Denzel was incredible in it as he always is. Russel Crowe and Josh Brolin both excellent. My own father spent much of my childhood in prison for his involvement with some similar people in the Philly area and I agree with you, Mr. Franzese, that life is no way to live. It rips apart families and takes lives. My dad turned his life around and has been clean since serving his five years in places like Danbury and Allenwood. They kept moving my dad so that visits weren’t always easy but I made it a point to visit him a lot. Thanks for being a positive example and not glamorizing that life.

I've been following Mr F recently, One thing we get from him is sincerity. The sincerity in when he is sharing something with us, he really wants us to believe that what he is telling us is truth. Example at 4 minutes 14 seconds in, Michael goes to share something but then pauses, to bring up something that is important before he continues. Like I said, if you're going to listen to anybody, this man should be the one.
