My thoughts on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 in 2023, because a lot of people are asking whether they should save some money and pick up a Fold 4 over a Fold 5. I think that's a great idea for a lot of reasons, but I want you to be careful! Make sure to follow these tips for buying a used Fold, and I think you'll be on your way to getting a great experience for a really great price.

I have the 4 and love it. Had it since launch. Would never pick another candy bar style phone from Samsung as long as these exist. I haven’t had any major issues with it. The screen protector started bubbling up. I just took it off and that has been since mid June. Have dropped it multiple times more than 10 less than 20. It still like it did from day one. The fingerprint was buggy after an update, did a factory reset and fixed the issue. So, it’s been great for 12 months.

I went to get my screen protector replaced so my 4 would look new again and I wouldn't be lusting after the 5.
The first replacement looked like crap, with little bubbles underneath, and a couple of tiny scratches. It started bubbling up at the crease anyway after a couple of days, so went back for another.
Second one was installed perfectly. Except I noticed two little "bubbles" that looked an awful lot like ones on the original replacement, in the same orientation, NEAR the same location.
I pointed them out to the guy and showed him pictures I had taken of the first protector, and told him "Something dented your batch of replacements in the same general area. Those aren't bubbles; they're dents from where something heavy was placed on your stash." He sort of understood what I was telling him (after suggesting my screen itself was dented), but I'm not sure I'll get a perfect replacement if I try a third one.
The only way seems to be to...get a Fold5. 😬
