Karen had the greatest voice of all time. She not only had a gift but was a gift. Perfect pitch which you don’t ever find. I was heartbroken when she died.
I( listened to an interview with Paul McCartney , they asked him who had the best voice he'd ever heard . He replied without hesitation , Karen Carpenter . Her haunting voice makes the world stop . Beautiful . I love your authenticity on your channel
I've never heard that interview but it's good to know he appreciated her voice as much as we do. Still. Every time I hear voice it gives me chills. Absolute perfection.
Just finished reading Little Girl Blue, a biography of Karen. So sad. We lost her way too soon (32 years old). Such a clear, pure, angelic voice and an awesome drummer. They used to call her One-Take Karen because she so often nailed it the first time around. Her brother Richard was on the keyboard/piano and he was composer/producer of their music, too.
It must be a little difficult sometimes for a singer to compliment another singer, but you do it with honesty and grace - your obvious admiration for Karen's singing style and her beautiful, resonant contralto voice is highly appreciated by her legion of fans - yes, she made it all seem so easy, but then masters of their craft always do - thankfully, she never indulged in the excess vocal gymnastics that most modern singers employ - she didn't need to because the gorgeousness of her voice "spoke for itself" and any frills or runs or even too much vibrato would have been a serious distraction from that wonderful voice and the joy of listening to her sing - "Rainy Days and Mondays" IS a great song and it's one of her finest vocal performances. Here are some others where her incomparable voice can be heard at it's best: YESTERDAY ONCE MORE, FOR ALL WE KNOW, YOU'RE THE ONE, A SONG FOR YOU, THIS MASQUERADE, I JUST FALL IN LOVE AGAIN, LEAVE YESTERDAY BEHIND, KISS ME LIKE YOU DID LAST NIGHT, THOSE GOOD OLD DREAMS, I NEED TO BE IN LOVE, LOOK TO YOUR DREAMS, TOUCH ME WHEN WE'RE DANCING, TICKET TO RIDE, (lyric video), A PLACE TO HIDE AWAY, ONE MORE TIME and DESPERADO. For more info on Karen's life read Randy Schmidt's biography "Little Girl Blue". Thanks again for your informed and enthusiastic reactions!
simply an extraordinary voice... sometimes I tear up listening to Karen sing... wishing she was still here with us today... she left us way too early...
Karen was, and still is, my all time favorite singer! Her voice had such range and she was always able to control it. "We've Only Just Begun" is my favorite!
Karen Carpenter was an Angel 😇 sent from Heaven and left us way too soon! One of the most beautiful voices ever heard! The compositions are the direct result of her brother Richard Carpenter who really played to Karen’s strengths as a singer! I LOVE ❤️ the music of The Carpenters! RIP Karen!
Dani, i loved the way she stretched that last vocal, I was 24 the day she died, I will never forget that day, it brought a tear to my eye, her changes of tone is mesmerising, I feel she is definately the best female singer of all time, her voice is so pure.
One of the greatest female singers of my lifetime. Hell one of the best singers period. Such a tragedy that she could not defeat her demons. RIP Karen. Thank you Dani.
I love your reaction to these videos. Your honest and real. Her voice still get’s me, she was and is still amazing Frank Sinatra once said Karen was the only singer he would pay to hear. God Bless Dani
I closed my eyes and was instantly taken back to 1971, when I was 12 years old and listening to Karen’s angelic voice and Richard’s wonderful production, on 77 WABC radio. Thank you Dani, and may G-d Bless you.
THE most beautiful female singing voice🎤💫 I’ve ever heard! Silky Velvety Silk…💕💕💕 Her lower register (contralto) singing was perfect 🤩 Portland Oregon USA 🇺🇸
Thanks Dani for the reaction on Monday Days And Mondays by The Carpenters. The Carpenters is one of my favorite group. Did you know that Karen was an very good drummer too.
The Carpenters were a great group mate. Karen’s voice was just so super mellow. She was a cool drummer too. She tragically passed from the results of battling anorexia nervosa. That’s such a wicked disease. It’s so cruel. But I loved this post and I loved your caring comments too. Thanks for your love and kindness mate. Take care.❤️❤️❤️❤️🌹🌹🌹☮️☮️☮️👍
Karen had a lot of heartache from her love life and suffered from anorexia which led to her death at an all too tragic early age! Her brother, Richard, released a compilation mix of some of their hits with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra last year. Loss of an incredible musician! Merry Christmas Darling is one of my faves during Christmas!!!
Thanks for the PSA Dani!!! :-) You mentioned how her singing appears to be effortless. Well, I'd say her injection of emotion appears to be effortless as well. It's almost subliminal -- I'm pretty sure that she was a witch.... ;-)
great song. One of their best...maybe the best. This song got lots of radio play back in the day. Karen's low register is fantastic on this song. Low notes make me feel her heart
Writer, producer Paul Williams called Karen a "One Take Wonder". She got it perfect on the first take with those effortless vocals. Shout out here too for Bob Messenger and his perfect "Jazzy" Sax Solo! I also love listening to his flute solo on "This Masquerade". There is a video on YT where Karen shares the stage with Jazz great Ella Fitzgerald singing to each other. You should check that out. Thanks!
Karen's voice was a gift to all. The best vocalist I have ever heard. No matter how sad or depressed you might be, her voice is always a pick me up. RIP lovely lady.

Seeing and hearing Karen just makes me feel so sad for the tragedy of what happened to her and how she was taken from us so early. I hasten to add that I still love hearing her and Richard but obviously with a large chunk of regret.
Supposedly this was sung to her brother Richard, whom I'm sure walked her through many bouts of depression over the years. Listen again to the lyrics with that in mind.
You can thank Richard, as he picked songs that complemented her range and arranged the backgrounds for said songs. As well as played the piano. What a team! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hello Dani. Karen was so great. One of a kind voice. Did you know she was an incredible drummer? Voted one of the 10 best woman drummers in rock.
