My GOD... We are so outclassed anymore!!! 😭
its ok we still like you. Jared not so much....
Yo Stevie you’re still top level cracked though.
bozo
Mine is in there too but you all blow me out of the water Stevie
@@coreysmith1974No. Before you attack Stevie T, you must challenge ME to a shred off. Over my dead guitar!
James Norton played so fast that I was transported down a Super Mario pipe
This video proves that no matter what you’re good at…there’s a kid half your age and twice as good as you out there.
😂😂😂
Twice?! make that 10 times🤣 kill me now
But who's got anything original to "say" on the guitar anymore? Almost all of these players sound the same to me. Arpeggios and sweeps.... Very little to distinguish them from each other.
That sounds like someone who doesn't actually play guitar / or be good at it. No offense. But they all sound very different.@@Truth_Hurts_Bad
But at the same time, no one else can be you. That's the best part, skill level aside. Sometimes simple stuff hits way harder. Sometimes you need the shred or it's empty. It's just different decorations of time and it's beautiful
So glad to see James Norton on here. He’s such a humble dude and has battled cancer and I have so much respect for his talent and just his overall personality super deserving
For sure! His attitude and openness about that whole ordeal has been inspiring.
It’s been an unbelievably crazy weekend but thank you so much Jared! Most people won’t know I took a 5 year break and just started playing again earlier this year. If I went back in time and told myself I’d be here today, I would have said I’m crazy lol but here we are 😊 thanks to all the great comments and support! I truly appreciate all of you and all the amazing guitarists that have sent their video in. I have a lot of new favorites to watch now!
I'm honored to have discovered you man, I speak for all the others who did the same too. You killed it. 🔥
you're an insane player, dude 🤘
You're just incredible, I can’t do this with my hands, you are an example of perseverance
@@tabbid9473thank you so much tabbid!🙏😁
@@chuckp342thanks Chuck!!
James Norton. Dude is making arcade noises just like Jacky Vincent. He's in. ❤
James Norton…. Wtf…? This dude started playing the sound made when Mario goes down a pipe on NES.
WOOHOO So glad to have been put on the video with all these fantastic players! Thanks for the amazing and kind words, Jared 💜💜💜
Renstrom needs his segment in Shred Collab 6.
He does more than most people do with half as many fingers. 🤘
I was heading to the comments to say that dude deserves a extra slot in the collab regardless of who gets picked!
@@TheXrossfade I wanna know his channel so I can sub.

Gotchu
100% that man should have a spot regardless who else got in.
He's basically the Django Reinhardt of shred.
A lot of people thought that James Norton around 10:20 was faked, including myself. But the dude posted the full solo with raw audio on his live stream, that dude is the real deal deal.
MOM I MADE IT!!!😀 (16:28) Holy smokes-some real talent in this video🔥😅 Thanks for all the hard work ur putting into this, Jared!🤝🏻 And thank you for featuring me so I can look bad compared to all the other super shredders😂 Love and rock ‘n’ roll🫡😎 -Rikki Thrash🤘🏻
The attention to detail in your shrine to Stallone did not go unnoticed. Love it!
Hey Rikki! Awesome to see you here! Tough Competition indeed!
❤
I saw your entry before the feature and I loved the energy
@RikkiThrash always an amazing shredder love to watch all you collabs #80’srock
James Norton Nailed it
I like the Atari video game arpeggios
17:37 Shaped in Dreams is my favourite, very unique sound, innovative technique, clean execution and great composition
100%
So happy to see myself in the video! Thanks for your awesome words. I'm actually stunned when it comes to how incredible every other entry is. Guess I should've spent a little more than a few hours on this, lol. Excellent stuff by EVERYONE! Thanks again, Jared. Let's keep the guitar alive!!! 🤘🤘
Thanks Jared! Honored to be in this video with all these supertalented guitarist!! 🤘🤘🎸🎸😁
James Norton's shred was ridiculous.
James Norton, the Koala guy, and Nikola Gulmini are my picks. These were all insane, I’m just trying to limit myself to 3 of my favorites for each of these videos. Lol, it’s hard man but I like that you are doing these videos, giving exposure to more amazing musicians and butchering their names 😂
Bro james nortons entry is the fakest shit i have ever seen.
Thanks so much for including me in the video, and the kind words Jared.. 🙏

Your solo was my favorite
What type of guitar/setup was that?
@@keithcostanza96 hey thanks a lot 🙏 . I’m using a 1979 25th anniversary Strat but with a custom neck. Axe fx 2 for my tones!
“That guy is uh… Guitar Pro 💻 “ 🤣 best way Jared could have handled that

Thank you so much for including me in this video Jared, I highly appreciate it 🤍
Thanks a lot guys for all the support and beautiful comments!
Ton of insane musicians and guitat players this year, damn! This motivates a lot 😍
Jared, here is one of a kind guitarrist in this life! Don’t miss the magic around!!!❤
Your phenomenal!
Bro I was so happy to see your video! You absolutely killed it!
New sub 🔥🐺
The very 1st dude out the gate today and you smashed it. Well done sir.
James Norton gets my vote 😱
Borja Mintegiaga (insane, fast but good), Ben Rabha (interesting scale use, I like a little discordance) , Corey Smith (This was probably the best one, fast, but still had feel, my fingers hurt watching him slide that fast), Nicola Gulmini (part of the new school polyphiaesque), Rick Renstrom ( this is one I had to watch over again, amazing talent with out the disability, insane that he can do that with his disability) Shaped In Dreams ( I like when people realize that the frets below the 10th are also playable), Tomas Villanueva ( added some texture with the harmonics and the palm mutes in the lower register, it was the most interesting interpretation with out any electronic tricks) Yang Jin Hyun (super clean great feeling) I like Fredrick Fincke but he had to change the original too much to get it to work with his style but that ending was great. FX Hexchen with the damn spoon again and the over-the-top. James Norton was just too much, sonically confusing but, insane talent, insane speed and insane control. They were all fantastic.
🙏 🙏 🙏
Thanks so much Andrew!
I loved the first entry from FX Hexcen but the second one just killed it. Best entry out of all I’ve seen so far. Also James Norton - insane. All entries were good, but these 2 are on another level
James nortons live take on tiktok sounds like absolute garbage btw
Jared man, I know this is your job and the whole bit. But I just want to say thank you for doing this every year. These players are incredible. It’s just insane where we are as players today. I never would’ve dreamed this would be the state of guitar. Beyond impressed. Thanks again dude and thank to all the dudes who put in the work to craft these amazing solos.
Enough has not and cannot be said about the talent, skill, and heart of James Norton. Its so good that Jared, myself and the rest of the audience, nor even himself can really get a grasp on how good he is.
James Norton is a fuckin BADASS! He is insanely talented and also just a really great dude!
Yeah I didn't know him and people started insulting and harassing him for "faking" this. Even if he was nobody has the right to do so.
idk if youve ever heard of gutiar pro or what it sounds like, but his clip sounds exactly like everyone who has been caught for being fake, because it sounds exactly like guitar pro. I dont know for sure but im much more willing to bet it is indeed fake.@@sammydaboul6781
Who the hell is that James Norton dude, that had to be sped up lol! I found Nicola Gulmini the most interesting. Tomas Villanueva was also cool with the newschool approach.
10:20 no words, he already won the collab and he’s not even in it yet but yes he is because you have to put him in
"that guy is guitar pro" best thing you could have said to the kid lol

Ricky Thrash ( Bass player) and James Norton (Guitar Professional) DUE SOLO COLAB. I Found a video of James Live performing Not to long ago, Epic. Side note fredrik the blues man has got some great flavor and style.
🤘🏻😝
@@RikkiThrash 🍻🍻
You need to get a group of your friends together and just sit down and judge blocks of 25 to 50 and get the best 5 or 10 from each block then keep repeating with the favorites until you can narrow it down to the number you want.
My favorites were definetely Fredrik Fencke, James Norton, Richard from Germany and Yang Jin Hyun. But holy shit what a bunch of talented people, everyone was great.
All monsters.-.the level of talent is brutal
James Norton is an absolute beast!
I’m just going to pretend they’re all in highly successful bands and get paid to play guitar for a living
Nope we all live in moms basement, but autism helps
@@Ottophil nope, I don’t believe it. Let me have this 😂
its amazing on how a guitar shredding video always makes you motivated and demotivated at the same time.
My Picks
Corey Smith,
Fredrik Fenck
Alex Schnelman
Nicola Gulmini
Rick Renstrom
Shaped In Dreams
🙏
These folks are so good man ❤ Thanks for showcasing these sick players
I appreciate that you can provide the guitar community this outlet for amazing shredders to share their talent
Borja/Rabha/Akif/Fencke/Cardone/Norton/Hyun, killed it! Honestly, you're gonna have to make the next Shred Collab about 2 hours long...there are too many incredible players. haha
Tanx man ❤
Wow that James Norton guy was rapid!! 😮😮
My faves in this one!
Seba XR
Akif Ozdin
Alex Schneelman
James Norton
Rikki Thrash
Yang Jin Hyun
🙏🏻🫡 thank you!
Thank you so much 🫶🫶
I just want to thank you for tossing this all together. I got no horse in the race but listening to these people do this insane shit is fun. You're giving them a bit of a platform and showing their work.
Seeing stuff like this then looking at the Rolling Stone top 250 guitarists in the world is hilarious. The majority of the people you've showcased thus far can outplay most of their list, even quite a few of the mythic legends we know deserve to be on that list. RUclips has helped to increase musical talent so much since it's inception. It's truly pushed the boundaries far passed what I ever imagined.
10:36 That doesn't look sped up at all, believe it
Fredrik Fencke really stood out as the most melodic and not being just about playing as many notes as possible!
James Norton however did play the most notes possible, and those video game style arpeggios were like nothing I'd ever heard.
James Norton
NO WAY! Thanks a lot for including me among all these shred monsters, Jared! Also, you're the best for the effort of doing these videos ❤
And the guitar is a True Range by Tagima. It's a Brazilian made instrument, but they are starting to make them in the USA too
15:55 his arms are short but the reach on his skills and dedication is unlimited
James Norton cause his technique had Jackie Vincent all over it. I miss Jackie, great shredder, great kid.
I love Jacky Vincent. One of my biggest influences. Him, Rusty Cooley, Christian Muenzner, Joe Stump, and Scott Stine. I’ve taken lessons with all of them except for Jacky
@@jamesnortonguitar I miss his videos. I love his playing especially those falling in reverse records. He did tornado of souls with, Nita Strauss, and Angel Vivaldi, that was an amazing show.
10:49 james norton
Nicola Gulmini is the EASY WINNER of this video. James Norton in 2nd with the best straight forward solo.
Jared is invaluable to the metal community!!! I'm just here to watch the daily dose of shred submissions :)
I love how shredding is more alive than ever. So many amazing players.
It's getting there, it's almost as alive as in the 80s again.
James Norton........ I cried for real..... phenominal
🥹🥹🥹
It goes without saying, they are all fantastic, but James Norton and Nicola Gulmini are out of this world. Mindblowing stuff
As a guitarist that started playing during the original shred era in 1987, but then came of age in the alternative 90s, the grunge era definitely did a disservice to my generation of guitarists. These kids are mind blowing. (I’m 48. Everyone is a kid to me now. 😂)
10:20 Absolutely *zero* shame. Jared's reaction says it all. Some of the fakest sh^t I've seen in a while 🤣🤣
I thought he was going to say he was the best GUFAKIST lol oh yeah Stevie T reference baby!
Jared's going on a new "Hands don't glitch like that" crusade 😆
That dude has a huge tiktok channel and does shit like that on lives every day lol he doesn't need to fake anything
Could you please explain what you mean by "fakest sh^t"? What in the world are you talking about?
@@steveclark9934 the guy on the video is not playing. He's miming. And he's really bad at hiding it. Anyone with minimum guitar knowledge made the same face as Jared after 5 seconds.
@BorjaMintegiaga 's thing is absolute madness 🤯
FX Hexcen...the OFFICIAL entry! And James Norton...MY GOODNESS that was wild. Just...you're dang right, that was the best take! And Rikki Thrash. Too amazing not to point out ha!
Haha thanks dude!🙏🏻
Thank you sooooo much❤
RICK RENSTORM
ROBAR MUSIC
SHAPED IN DREAMS
Thank you so much!!🙏😁
James Norton (my #1 That was so fast it looked fake) and Dom Chavez (my #2) were sick! note clarity at that speed is impressive imo Def my top 2 in this video.... Akif Ozden, Borja Mintegiaga, Alex Schnellman, Eduardo Cardone, Fx Hexsen, Nicola Gulmini (unique), Rick Renstrom (no excuses), Alessandro Zilio were also excellent it would be hard to choose a #3.
It was fake lol..

James Norton, & FX was beyond the best on episode!!!! Just keep in mind NORTONl left you speechless! NeXT would would be FENKE &/or HYUN., and RENSTROM a REAL CLOSE ThIRd . BTW, COREY SMITH could be in the top 3, Just off technical patterns ! Loved it Corey
Appreciate you 🙏
Dom Chev, Seba XR Guitar, FX Hexcen. 🤘🔥👍
Thank uuu🙏🫶🫶
10:20 I love how Jared looks close at the screen to examine the guy's hands because his playing is Lucas Mann as hell.
Rikki and rematrom and that blues man
😎🙏🏻
Yeah dude kids these days forget about that 80s metal attitude. That is perfect
I am a great conversationalist
Y'know Jared gets a lot of stick these days (don't know why, success probably), but one thing no one can undermine is him each year now, utilising his platform to showcase incredible talent in this guitaring world. Each year I look forward to it and this years format with these videos is only building hype but also showcasing a lot of the talent that may go missed otherwise. Well played Jared, can't wait to hear the full thing.
Holy shit. So many great players here. But the guy that melted my face the hardest 😮was James Norton. I had the same reaction as you. O-faced in disbelief. The end with the girlfriend being all impressed was funny too because I'm like, 'dude is getting laid immediately after this.' 😂 I'm not even saying he's be best pick for the collab. I'm just describing my reaction was the most extreme.
Close seconds were Nicola Gulmini and FX Hexcen.
Best atmosphere vids go to Richard from the German forest and Rikki Thrash.
*Edit: After checking out his instagram, I feel like I have seen and possibly met James here in LA at one of the many local events. ha! There's just so many talented people here.
Hey, James Norton made something really awesome !
Yea not with a guitar 😂
Corey was sick. Dom Chavez, like the technic, sound choice, speed and accuracy. Class: sickest 🎉
🙏
James Norton kinda just blew my mind, and now so did Nicola Gulmini
These videos are so much fun.I've been playing since"Surfin' with the Alien" came out.I can shred some, but all of the submissions you show make me want to take piano lessons.Ok...gonna go drink some beer, then sell my gear.
Kidding about the gear.
1) Yang Jin Hyun 19:04
2) Alex Schnellman 6:03
3) Borja Mintegiaga 0.48
Borja, Nicola, Red Scorpion, Yang Jin, all my top picks so far on this one. All great, just these hit me more.
Alessandro Zilio 🤘🏼🙌🏼👌🏻
Seba XR guitar was musical, creative and original. This guy rocks!!
One thing ive noticed is, a lot if these "Modern guitarist" dont play those classic Strat , LP model guitars as much. Its Sire, Kiezel , Solar and whatever headless 8 string thing is out there. Im digging though
Personally, I dig solos like Ben Laf's, where my brain can process the melodic structure, and you can decipher what notes are being played.
The "blur" shredders give me a headache, and it doesn't take long for them to all sound the same.
10:20 James Norton.
I've officially done my civic duty and made a selection.
As a 32 year old who has been seriously trying to learn guitar for a couple of years now. This is demoralizing 😂 but I'll still keep going 💪
I started guitar when I was 23. You can get solid quickly, don't let these guys discourage you. It's not a competition anyway and it shouldn't be, even though being competitive has a ton of positive traits. (Dudes lol... I'm actually also half-blind and this here was the proof haha)
It's all about finding your personal voice❤❤❤
And if you want to have a more relatable example, I started to learn 56 strings gusli harp just this year (37 y.o.); and let's say I made a bunch of progress even though I don't practice more than 10 minutes per day.
@@AndreyOrochi 😆 WUT
@AndreyOrochi Hell yeah thanks dude! 🤘 thankfully it's something I'm just doing as a hobby so I never plan to be a master shredder but maybe one day I can write some songs.
@@thegreatpoo2electricboogal318 make sure you love what you're doing, even if you have ANY amount of flaws. We all do, trust me. James Norton!
I don’t need to see anymore!
He put God in 2nd place 😮
Seba XR, FX Hexcan, Nicola Gulmini
If you think about it, you have enough good shred submissions that it could be a shred colab of its own. Shreds of the unknown.
James Norton HAS to be in this collab. Not only is he a super amazing guitar player, he is a great person overall!!!
It's like picking between 20 5-star restaurants...my favorites are Seb XR Guitar and Fredrik for the unique approaches to the backing track, and those two plus Alessandro at the end all having tasty phrasing

James is an absolute beast. 10:20ish. He absolutely is the real deal too. I have personally tracked him before. It is true what he said, he is guitar pro. He has the ability to be machine-like. He understands music at a level that is above many.
I was among the group that doubted that videos validity. It just sounded fake to me. Then he posted a raw take on IG and shut my ass up 😂
@@brennenconlee437sounds like a fake comment. The “real” video he posted still contained the entire backing synth that overpowered what he was actually playing to cover up all the mistakes. Until he posts a video without all that backing synth I won’t believe it one bit.
