This honestly was the saddest death bc no one cared that she died. Claire didn’t even know she died but she didn’t even ask like hey where’s my assistant? Not only that. Zara was supposed to get married. She talked about it on the phone in one scene.

ghoul I've read articles on the Internet that reported that the actress here, Katie McGrath (is that her name? I'm not sure), actually asked or requested to director Colin Trevorrow that she wanted her character, Zara Young, to die or get eaten in "a spectacular way."
That's why Katie signed up for this "Zara" role. There's even a Behind-The-Scenes video here on RUclips where she's shooting Zara's death scene.
It's so cool because it's ALL her, it's all Katie. There wasn't a stunt double to do Zara's death scene, they didn't hire a stunt double, because Katie herself really wanted Zara to have that spectacular death scene.
Well, I must say that it worked. It paid off. After seeing this movie for the very first time in the cinema, in 3D, the only death scene that I could think about was Zara's death. It was so creative and so unexpected and a bit disturbing, that I would imagine she was probably still screaming while inside Mosa's esophagus/digestive system. Because it had looked like she was swallowed alive by Mosa.

If you think about it, Zaras death is actually horrifying. Think, you're being harassed by a giant bird then you feel this giant mouth around you and it closes before you can do anything.
Logan Ryan This is the first time in any movie i feel adrenaline in my heart after that scene. If i was stuck in that huge aquarium knowing that thing exists inside ill freeze.

If you look closely in the mosasaur’s mouth you can see zara’s hand and see her struggling to climb up, it just made the scene so much more terrifying for me.

Eh that are annoying. They constantly brung up their parents divorce which basically did nothing for the story. They didn’t tell Claire about Zara’s death which could have done some well for Claire’s character showing she actually cares about her assistant. They are not like Lexi or Tim.

@@arthurmorgan3643 Eddie's death was brutal and undeserved; however his character was actually developed and he died a hero; his death makes people sad, it has the desired effect (I never see people claiming his death was entertaining like Zara's death) and his death also served to push the plot, he has an importance, as does his death. Yes it's sad, undeserved, and brutal, but it has a purpose and he's a character people empathise with.
Zara's death was atleast as brutal (definitely longer), undeserved; did nothing to forward the plot; and really just was brutal just to be brutal...

We were all having fun. Then when Zara hit the water, there was a collective gasp and then silence.
Such an effective scene.
I remember watching this scene in the cinema with my friends. Everyone's mouth dropped open. We couldn't believe how randomly brutal it was. Best scene in the movie.

Not really. In Jurassic Park : The Game, a woman professor got killed by a Tylosaurus when she attempted to get the creature free. So basically, Zara's death would be the 2nd female death in the francise.
The first one is way less brutal than this however.
Man, imagine getting tossed around in water, then getting eaten, STILL ALIVE, then due to to acid burns in the stomach.
I think she would have died from the impact of the teeth first, you can see her arm trying to crawl out of it's mouth. Once the dinosaur closed it's mouth, she was probably killed from the teeth.

This death scene really disturbed me once I stopped and thought about the implications, bucause I think she didin't die right on the spot, she had time to think about what was going to happen after the jaws closed up on her. She was a goner, and if she didin't die right away she'd drown on her way to the stomach or if she gets there still breathing she will be dissolved alive by gastric juices. Yikes...

Always loved how upset everyone was at her death. Nothing her character did made her deserving of that fate. She wasn't mean, or spiteful. She was just sorta upset she had to babysit as part of her job.

Also Pterosaurs are not dinosaurs, quit calling them dinosaurs. They are Archosaurs closely related to dinosaurs but they are not dinosaurs. Mosasaurs are also not dinosaurs and are not even Archosaurs. Mosasaurs are literally giant marine lizards. Just clarifying some misconceptions on what people call dinosaurs.

This scene is probably the most horrific way to die. Imagine you’re just being fought over by velociraptors, thrown around, drowned and then swallowed whole by a mosasaurus. They actually have many layers of teeth so she would be getting shredded to pieces while remaining alive and conscious throughout the whole thing. Truly horrific and traumatising.

+mzytryck I think she died anyway. The Mosasaurus has secodnary teeth on the roof of its mouth that shreds food when it chews. The weight of the Pteranodon probably didn't help either.

Drowning in stomach acid n' everything, while the protagonists smooch she's underwater, surrounded by darkness, screaming bubbles inside a giant dinosaur's stomach. I sometimes think the people that write these scenes don't think beyond the immediate spectacle of being eaten to the true horror of dying inside...

I like this scene for 2 reasons. First Zara's death illustrates the fact that death can occur to any of the characters. This keeps the suspense and immersion of the audience up because if a character who seemed to be a major role could be killed then maybe we could lose others also. Second, the seemingly brutal aspect to this death helps emphasize the frightening nature of the dinosaurs.
A minor third personal point, Its a shame we don't get enough female characters getting eaten in this film series. Doesn't have to be always in a brutal fashion or be an innocent. I probably know why they don't do it but I feel it takes me out of the experience because its like "oh yeah, that woman will make it or she'll live"
Exactly. Jurassic franchise women have always had military grade plot armour. Meanwhile, men have been chomped down in the most creative of ways, by hordes of different dinosaurs. For once, a female dies, and people start complaining about it. Obviously now, they won’t anymore. Now, I don’t need brutal bloody deaths all the time, but make it realistic. In reality, they’d probably be the first to go, after children, because of their strength and speed disadvantages.
@@durgapur_97 Not many people watch Jurassic movies for realism, in all fairness. I think the biggest issue was how drawn out it was. Also, the absolute lack of empathy (or even interest in her death) shown by the main characters was weird.
I actually never thought about this scene through a gendered lens before. It was just grim, plain and simple. If you prefer stark realism, probably summer blockbusters aren't going to be where you find it.

Dude. Do you think the story just adapts with how important the roles are for each character ? In real life people who didn't do anything wrong or aren't important to you die of useless deaths too, you know. If there was a massive dinosaur breakout, do you think the dinosaurs would just pick the evil ones and the ones deserving it ? No. It doesn't matter.

But even if it's a movie and that the plot has to adapt a little to the main character's destiny (well that's Hollywood for you), there has to be some things proving the plot is still pretty realistic (I know Dinosaurs in our society wouldn't be real tho lol). True but there's no real excuse for it in the film. There is not a single line of dialogue for how an animal that was probably 15 tonnes can jump into the 2000 tonnes territory.
Zara's death was without a doubt the most creative and brutal death of the jurassic park movies to date. What drives the impact home is she's a woman. You often don't see women die in movies, especially least not like this. Hats off to the film makers for having the balls to do it!

This scene was possibly the worst scene in cinematic history. There was no reason for her character to be brutally murdered like that. Completely random and unnecessary
ecofriendlyhippie you could literally say that about 95% of the deaths that happens in any movie. It's to show the audience and make them feel the gravity of the situation. "Dramatic effect" does have a place in film you know.

That's a pretty badass way to die. But the director really nailed how situations can escalate quickly.
The actress asked for a memorably badass death, and the director delivered. She did her own stunts, too.
I always hated (in a "that's so sad" way) that the CGI guys added a glimpse of her arm trying to climb out of the mosasaur's mouth before she went under. That'd be so terrifying to endure.

This scene is so impressive. The fact that the actress performed every moment, with no stunt double, makes this the most impressive death in the franchise. She should be applauded!
She asked for this scene, then did all her own stunts in it.

Some things I noticed:
1) Zara's arms reaching out trying to escape.
2) It has teeth on the roof of its mouth, so I think Zara was killed the
moment the jaws closed, she wasn't killed in its stomach like many

3) You can see the Mosasaurus' eyes which look cute and so f**ing
scary at the same time lol
