Peace Pipe (Shadows Cover)

- Written by Norrie Paramor and recorded by The Shadows at EMI Studios, Abbey Road in May 1961, Peace Pipe was featured in the 1961 film 'The Young Ones' and released on the movie soundtrack album. In the UK and most other territories, it was also the flip side to the single 'The Savage'.
I am using a '57 Reissue Stratocaster, TVS3 echo unit and Vox AC15H1TV amplifier. Audio was recorded and mixed in Apple's Garage Band and video was recorded with a Sony HDR-CX560V video camera and edited in iMovie.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, great memories. My dad used to take me to the Isle of Man every year for the TT races and Mike the Bike and Ago were two of my childhood heroes. There is nothing like the sound of an MV Agusta or Honda 4-cylinder wailing like a banshee around the mountain circuit.

Wow, both great bikes in their time, especially the MV, an exotic bike in my view. The mention of MV Augusta brings back memories of watching Giacomo Agostini racing them at Brands Hatch in Kent and at Spa in Belgium. On one occasion I can remember seeing him, Bill Ivy and Phil Read on Yamahas and Mike Hailwood on the Honda all came around together, I can still hear the sound, fantastic. When I watch your guitar playing I will see you in a different light now.

Although I used the Line 6 for its Vox AC15 and AC30 amp simulations on some of my earlier videos, it actually contributes nothing to the sound on this one. I recorded the lead guitar with a Shure SM57 microphone in front of the AC15 cabinet. Yes, you're right about the end-credits, lol!

Thank you. I agree that the sound is much better than on version 1 even though the equipment is the same. Having good gear does not necessarily guarantee the best Shadows sound, as there are many other variables.

Thanks for the great comments! It took me a few while to figure out the sound, but I think I came pretty close on this one thanks to the excellent combination of a TVS3 echo unit and hand-wired AC15 amplifier.

Hi James. I have no Idea how to play the guitar I only know a great sound and a guitar well played my friend. Two things when I retired 9 years ago to do
1 learn to swim and 2 learn to play the guitar 1 is done 2 my fingers are a little stiff now from golf. so I think I will just enjoy your playing instead God Bless you my friend.
