I haven't found the patience to tie the fg. Modified Albright hasn't failed me yet. Thanks for that good how to video.

It's easier than tou think. The key is have rod in holder or anything that will keep a little tension on line. Can tie fg in like 40 seconds and do my improved version in a minute. It's worth it. Running 10# braid and 30# leader, the leader almost always bust before main line

Which of the various loop-knot variations are used on your baits? What's your preferred snell tie when going straight to a hook?

Capt. C.A, that is a big help. My FG and Yucatan knots have been doing just that.

Hey C.A. I picked up some Buggs Trout Thumpers off your recommendations. I swear on my kids first cast - boom! Trout on!

I have found the same thing with leaving a long tag on the FG.

Captain CA, would you recommend a UV glue or liquid plastic adhesive on an FG knot? What would some pros and cons of knot protection?

100% recommended. My FG knots never come undone and the glue hasn't had any detrimental impacts on the the flouro leader.

Once you learn to confidently tie the knot you won't feel the need for glue--it's unneeded.

Loctite Super Glue is what I use to glue soft baits to jig heads. I'm sure it will work on knots.

Andrew, I have not tried glue on the FG… I find by leaving a longer tag it stays together fine with lighter weight braids. On heavier braids I have no problem cutting tag close. Hope this helps you.

Loon Outdoors has a a soft plastic by the name of UV Knot Sense. Great stuff if you feel u need a soft pliable when dried glue. If you have a UV light it helps cure it. There a lot of others like loon. Just google it.

Why the blood knot? Aren’t there just as good or better than a blood knots that are easier for us old farts with arthritic hands. I’m pretty well versed on knots, and tying various nautical knots while in middle school Boy Scout troop. I personally (& IMHO) find the FG A TOTAL PITA. Short for Pain in the Arse. I have lost too many expensive Mirrolures and Rapalas when relying on the that PITA knot. I’ve used every video out there but my arthritics hands have had to give up in fly tying and I personally find the complicated FG and others like it aren’t worth the frustration. I’ll stick with the Crazy Alberto or Improved Albright that you have recommended. Great video on the other aspects though. I ALWAYS learn something. You rock!

I only tie the blood knot because the tags can be cut very close to the knot body
