Very hopeful about the future of South Africa. Have been living in Australia for 4 years now and would without a doubt move back if this is a new chapter! Think many expats share a deep love for South Africa and would move back if the country gets its ducks in a row. Seems like it is going to happen.

Giving the ANC props for choosing their only option is giving them far too much credit. They would have been destroyed by joining a coalition with the MK and EFF. We all know that we can thank the MK for stealing ANC votes. I’m grateful they did, as the majority are too racially biased to do the right thing and vote for the only party that has shown they have the potential to run the country in a manner that better serves its people.

I have one observation that raises the red flag for me.... The DA condemned the ANC in the strongest terms for the Phala-Phala scandal.
Suddenly now - the DA is willing to turn a blind eye to this "unforgivable crime" and move on...

Get the politics right and hopefully economic advancement will follow. What the country needs is jobs and good governance, where all citizens contribute to the tax take, not just a minority. Fix the infrastructure, upskill the youth, get inward investment and start making and building things for export. That is how you build a tiger economy in southern Africa that benefits all citizens. I wish South Africa every success in this endeavour.
I'm not sure whether DA actually gained votes in this election or it's just low turnout and MKP that actually helped DA to regain it's 22%.

We left the country and realised the undisclosed country we went to has its own problems and came back with intention to help fix SA. The biggest thing we found was that every south African we met over seas was trying to create mini south africa where ever they are and telling everyone on SA how amazing it is over there when the reality is that they cannot admit how much they hate it because if you allow yourself to see the country you moved to with the same critical eye you judged SA you would be miserable. So they try and convince as many south Africans as they can that where ever they are is incredible when the reality is that it might be better in some ways but in the ways that truly count it's far worse.
That being said it depends on what is important to you and what makes you happy.
