Kamille has co written alot of their hits. They are honouring and recognising her, and their friendship and showing their gratitude, with a full feature in song.
OKAY. Who and what this song is about is well... its a long explanation/theory really. So if you wanna read it, here ya go: Listen up. There's a fan theory I saw that makes so much sense about this song. Theory only cause they've never been asked about it. So, More Than Words can be interpreted for their friendship, or maybe loosely, even a relationship. BUT, now bare with me on the long explanation, theres backstory and I would understand if you didnt read the whole thing (I'm not crazy I swear), but, the one that makes the most sense is that its about their relationship with Kamille (the woman featured on this song). Now Kamille is, of course, a singer, but she is first and foremost a songwriter/producer. She's known the girls since working with them on their 2nd album and she's written/cowritten A LOT of the songs on LM5. In an interview Kamille has spoken about the girls, saying she's personally seen their ups and downs through the years and she feels like a big sister to them. Now even though she's worked with them before, this is the first time she's ever featured. Kamille, as amazing as she sounds on here, has only recently decided to start her career as a singer. You still with me?, cuz you'll notice that each girl gets a shot where they sing their part and its only her and Kamille on the screen. As if they're singing the lyrics to her. There's some specific ones that sound, if I'm not stretching anything, a bit too accurate for her relationship with them as not only a big sister but professionally, in songwriting etc. One example is when Jade sings, "When the world try to break us, we found magic. And we grew stronger, through every line, line, l-l-line, line line." SO before their 3rd album(Get Weird), they had a sort of setback since their 2nd album (Salute) did great but didnt do as well as it should have. On Get Weird, their lead single Black Magic was a big hit and pretty much single-handedly saved their careers, and it was written by (guess who?) Kamille. "We found magic" is a reference to that lyrically and I guess, metaphorically. (Theres more but I dont want to write more of an essay than I've already done.) You might not, but if you read the lyrics, it make so much more sense that Little Mix and Kamille are speaking to each other on it. "Always been there for me, Now I'd do it the same." is their promise that theyll support Kamille as she starts her journey as a solo artist, just as she's always done for them. The fact that they're "stuttering" and the title is called "More Than Words" and their relationship revolves around songwriting is icing on that cake.
its not just a fan theory! kamille posted a clip on her insta and her caption essentially says what youve written here - that its about her and lm and their relationship the way youve worded it is beautiful and she didnt say all the reasons, so thats interesting
The songs about their friendship, kamille is a singer songwriter that is also one of their best friends that has helped them through hard time in the studio and just in general, she’s written so many songs with them.
this song is even deeper than just friendship!! kamille has been helping them write songs since 2013, and she considers herself their big sister because of the deep bond that they formed from sharing life stories and experiences. there's a lot of nods in the second verse to specific songs that she helped them write about tough shit they've gone through: shout out to my ex - perrie sings that she turned her breakup disaster and negative publicity into a positive for their careers. power - "gave me the power, make my life brand new". black magic - jade sings that writing black magic saved their career trajectory after the salute album was badly promoted in america and their american tour cancelled; their label forced them to trash their original r&b third album for something more pop-y to save profits after one direction disbanded, delaying release for an extra year and making them lose some of their international following. featuring on this song in general is their way of giving back to kamille, who is just starting a solo performing career after being a song-writer for other artists for so long. this song, while it does at its core talk about friendship, is really about the special bond between song-writer and artist and the therapy/support that comes with the process.
Hey, LM5 is so good. You need to hear it. A lot of people have been doing them maybe two songs at a time to avoid copyrights so if you want to do that I'm sure Mixers would love to hear your thoughts on it! We honestly love this album, everyone needs to hear it at least once! Also, yay for getting all their names!
Mixers are loving you because of what you said about Jesy in the Strip mv. Jesy has always been the one struggling the most because of her body tipe. You are a queen and you are breathtaking black excellence WE STAN
The girl you said sounded like Christina was Jade, her high notes are impeccable. Also you're girlfriend is a starter too. She starts majority of LM5 songs and we love it
Great reaction! I would love you to do a reaction soon to, what I believe is one of LM's most criminally underrated songs out of all of their music. The song' is called "F U" (it's a diss track about a cheating partner) from their last album Glory Days. They all sing it with so much deep old school soul music vibes and Jesy and Leigh-Anne, wow! They are simply stunning vocally for me on this track, you won't be disappointed! The live performances are the best!
Lesy are your faves💘💗 This rarely happens cause most people like perrie the most and then second jade while out here you are supporting the underrated baes
I think that Jade's signature look is either bangs or a side part with loose wavy hair, Leigh-Anne changes her look a lot so it's kinda hard to pin her to one signature look, Jesy usually either has the hair from this video or a centre part with straight hair and Perrie has a centre part with loose waves but idk that's just what I see them in the most (they're switching it up a lot this era though).
Some trivia: 2nd half of the song references a few of the songs that Kamille wrote with them. (1) Leigh Anne and Perrie sang about how Shout Out To My Ex helped them get over exes, and turned gossip around Perrie's broken engagement ("disaster") into a Brit Award winning single ("dream"). (2) "Gave me the Power" references the song Power, and (3) Jade singing "we found magic" references the song Black Magic, which pulled them out of a writing slump.
This song is amazing. It's so beautiful and it makes me think of my best friend that passed away last year (It's a song about friendship) and it perfectly describes the friendship we had. I miss him more and more each day and it hasn't gotten any easier because I've had so much guilt over him passing ( I was supposed to be with him the night the incident happened; I'm not gonna going to get into it) but this song perfectly describes our friendship. I miss him so much. He was like a brother to me. So I thank Little Mix && Kamille for such a great song.
Your reactions are making me come back because you’re paying attention and learning (names, looks etc) which some don’t do. I can’t wait for you to go back and look at their good enough live and their a cappella . The X factor days got me interested but the a cappella made me a fan. Good enough live literally made me cry during their high notes in the middle. Thanks for the reactions
hi firstly thank you for reacting to their music. secondly thank you for defending them. you’re very welcome in this fandom and we’d love you to join! and yes you’re right it’s a song about little mix’s friendship with kamille. they wanted to create something different than all the usual break up songs. love you 💞
First time seeing this and let me tell you, you got this right on! I came across this song this morning and it reminded me of my closest friends and all that we have been through. But also of me and my boyfriend and everything that we have been through.
Kamille is one of their writers that they’ve been working with for years now (Little Mix do write some of their songs as well). So the song is kind of love song between writer and artist.
Most charismatic reacting commentator so far for me.. Can't believe I watched ur entire commentary (first for me) and it does help ur fangurling my GOAT girl group.
The song is talking about how a guy broke their hearts. And how the guy has been their for them and how they will do the same for that guy. And the girls will always be there for each other
I LOVE YOUR REACTIONS! It would be amazing if you react to the rest of the songs, maybe one or two at a time? Also Woman's World is my top fav, but the whole album is tbh
