A bright orange Braniff 707-320 overnight hop from Travis AFB, California to Clark AFB, RPI in late December, 1966 was my first with the airline. Plane was a contract carrier full of Army, Marines, Air Force and a few Navy heading to SE Asia. I'll never forget that long west-bound night from the "World" to the nether world of the Vietnam War. As a Navy guy, a flight deck airdale, notwithstanding, I knew my chances of coming home alive was far greater than many of my fellow passengers and I wonder how many on that flight sadly didn't.
Not only funky, but top-notch service, with smoking lounges (back in the days when we were free), and airline food that did not look or taste like it. Service. It was all about service.
Sorry, that is incorrect. Braniff had taken delivery of numerous A320s in late summer 1989. (They were the FIRST US carrier to do so.) However, the financial damage had already been done, and by the time the new, more efficient planes were put into service, it was too little, too late. Many good people with Braniff lost their jobs when they shut down operations abruptly one beautiful day in September. I was one of those people, working at Kansas City International Airport.
I remember that , as a boy interested in planes, the first airplane I ever saw leaving Amsterdam 'Schiphol' Airport for the far away United States (which I thought of as the country where everything was even better than with us) was a Braniff 747, with orange paint on it...
I believe US Scare took the airbus aircraft Braniff had on order when it went belly up, so yeah Braniff would have been fly Airbus planes had it not gone belly up
Braniff A380s.........? that's messed up, I recall a model maker coming out with these in the early '00s', Dragon Wings I believe. I come from a Braniff family and collect all things Braniff, save for those horrid '380s'. Interesting that someone with AALover would post an homage to a carrier, that 'Evil Eagle' help to destroy. Braniff was not "funky", Braniff was "Class"

Problem with full service was it was hideously expensive to provide. Pan Am found that out. Full service airlines went broke, mine too.
The 727 at the :51 mark looks pretty fucking sexy. I used to see them at LAS back in the late 80s all the time.
cool video nice airbus A380's!
I really like the music whats its name?
Beautiful Airline
I knew a lady who waorked for them at their mci hub back in the 70's Betty loved her job and this airline!! RIP Betty

We had Braniff pilots down under early 90's. Gday Rod K !
the A380 in BI coloures looks stunning!
the 747 was called "Fat Albert" not Red Apple, former Braniff flight attendant
@isitsafenow Braniff II was Braniff, Inc to take some license on the old jetways, etc with BI still around
