Leona Lewis has always been one of my top favorite female singer. I don’t know what happened to her voice but Leona if you’re seeing this, work on your pharyngeal. It’ll help to open up your voice/vowels and not squeeze so much in the throat to avoid even more damage. Sing through your pharynx 😊 Still love you!
I'm a vocal coach...this seems like a psychophysical problem of the nervous system...dysphonia or even dystonia. The muscles in the voice box tense up. You can try to rehab it with voice and breath therapy and mental therapy but it oftentimes can't be remedied completely. It is absolutely NOT a question of bad technique (it could be aggrevated by that but that's not what's happening here). Brian Littrell (Backstreet Boys), Shania Twain and Jon Bon Jovi are further examples of this. I've had my fair share of this as well and it absolutely sucks.
@@Simplenotion Interesting. It's always nice to learn something new! I feel if she sings through yawning techniques it could help with that as well. I know when my voice box tense up I have to go back to the yawn approach and it usually does the trick.
@@JV-jc7ci unfortunately technical aspects only are of little help in lighter cases. Believe me. I'm a, and I'm quoting my voice therapist here, "basically flawless technician that knows everything about technique but the problem isn't about technique at all" - and still can't remedy it fully. It comes and goes based on stress level etc.- it's psycho-neurological. It can even get to the point were you don't feel any control over your muscles. What has helped me tremendously is really trying to find the enjoyment in singing again. This way you don't try to micromanage what you can't and your body oftentimes releases (a bit) as soon as your brain calms down as well.

I am not shading her, I love Leona Lewis but here in Philippines, we have singers who have been tired for decades singing but still have their voices close to their peak: Regine Velasquez, Lea Salonga, Lani Misalucha. Regine said herself in a fan interview that her voice was very fragile but she has developed it over time because of training and practice. She still has it. I think she should take some time to retrain her voice though, to see what she’s capable of now and know her voice better. I still think she sounds amazing. Very angelic, it’s just her belting she needs to relearn her limits. It sounds like she’s just guessing now on hitting notes and that’s not what singing is about.

She has an autoimmune disease called hashimoto’s that has effected her voice. A rhinoplasty could effect the resonance of the voice somewhat. It wouldn’t cause the changes we hear in Leona’s voice
Hmmm. I think she lost a lot of confidence in her vocal abilities. It seems like she feels safe just to sing with the background singers. Her airy voice sounds clear as ever, but the belting is very shaky and the higher head voice parts are almost not tackled at all. And yet she is still better than 90% of todays artists. I hope she has a second wind in her for a career resurgance. One of the most beautiful voices ever when in full force IMO

I believe there's been a lot of wear on her vocal cords for such effort during her lifetime Mariah Carey is an example of that. Perhaps the aesthetic procedures in your nose may be one of the reasons for this vocal decline. But, Leona is still amazing.

Hmmm. I think she lost a lot of confidence in her vocal abilities. It seems like she feels safe just to sing with the background singers. Her airy voice sounds clear as ever, but the belting is very shaky and the higher head voice parts are almost not tackled at all. And yet she is still better than 90% of todays artists. I hope she has a second wind in her for a career resurgance. One of the most beautiful voices ever when in full force IMO

Her voice strained a lot and it’s not good honestly. Such a pity. She had one of the best voice in our generation. What a shame
I believe there's been a lot of wear on her vocal cords for such effort during her lifetime Mariah Carey is an example of that.
Perhaps the aesthetic procedures in your nose may be one of the reasons for this vocal decline. But, Leona is still amazing.
