I really appreciate that you made this video. I pray the Lord may bless you. This video was such a help. I was on a road trip and became stuck with my wife. This video saved us from canceling our trip to see my 80 year old grandma in Phoenix Arizona, We got stuck on the drive in California from Oregon. Thank you for helping us get my 2004 Chevy trailblazer out of park. Yep it was the wire
My hero! LoL Thank you so much! My 2007 Chevy Trailblazer has had me at a loss but low & behold, I stumbled upon your wonderful video and I'm about to check it out. It's exactly as you described; I'd bet money this will fix mine- thanks again! Andi
Thank you for help, I ordered the solenoid but thought I would check the terminal after watching your video. Two broken wires. Great job helping others young man 👍
This was the first video that popped up. My shifter was stuck in park. I watched this video, took the console apart and when I unplugged the solenoid connector the black wire came out. Thanks for sharing this video!
Omg I'm so happy u posted this video, u just saved me so much money and time. Last night around 2am me and my kids were getting ready to come home had just got off work and my shifter got stuck in reverse. I watched this video and was able to pull the boot back and stick my finger on the side and got my car to shift to drive and we made it home safely without having to call a tow truck. Thank you so much, you were truly a blessing to me and my family idk what I would've done cause I'm a single female and never would've thought of doing this and spent all kinds of money trying to get mechanics to figure it out. May God bless you and happy new year❤️
Great video. I love the way you paid attention while you unplugged the connector to see the loose wire. Great diagnostics. I agree, RUclips has been a great source of information for me also.
That's the same shit mine does. That's what I have personally found. Nobody on the internet shows you this as a possibility. I have the 2002 Blazer ZR2. And that damn solenoid won't engage. Now I don't know if the same issue as yours, but if I push it in with my finger, I can then change gears. Problem is, I already changed out the ignition switch, then a plastic assembly that's on the side of the transmission. And I first started out with the damn starter. So that's brand new too. My Blazer has been sitting for years because of this. Thanks for the upload, brother man! You have confirmed it and even confirmed the name of the part. Again, Thank you for uploading this video! I was almost going to shell out nearly 600 bucks to have the dealership find out and fix. I also ordered the shift cable as well! I owe you a steak dinner!
@@jasonbrown467 I at first got into the vehicle. Put the key into the ignition. Turned the key and it wouldn't crank. I have no reason to takebit out of park at this point. So, at this point, it wouldn't crank. Starter is dead or battery is dead. I change out the starter. Still will not crank. No reason still to take it out of park. So I don't know that it won't come out of park. So I go to reading about possibilities. Later found out that the damn thing won't even come out of park. Possibilities are the ignition switch. I change that out....and so on. Trust me, I don't go around buying gas to fix an a/c compressor. LOL
It’s your transmission shift linkage bushing. If the shifter is not moving, underneath drivers side there is a linkage. Dorman 14055. Pop the plastic part into place and you don’t have to take apart your shifter. Though this information is very useful and helpful.
dude, no. if the shift cable link bushing breaks/falls out. you can move the shifter, but the cable is free floating under the vehicle and not moving the lever on the side of the transmission. the problem in this video is different, his problem was the thumb button the side of the shift handle wouldnt press in, therefore he was locked into park. while i dont know exactly what his issue was, it seemed to be the black cable, that he was able to repair, but i suspect maybe it fell out while replacing the solenoid its self, but thats unclear in this video
You thanked the correct entity. You are correct, there are no videos on this solenoid. Some how mine broke off, and who knew. Take care of Detroit, hope she makes a comeback..
Hell yeah man thanks. I had the same problem took it apart and what do you know my black wire was broke. Works like a charm now. I think the hardest part was getting the wire harness for the back seat undone. But you saved me a lot of hassle
Gonna check that out tomorrow, not sure if I have the same problem, but if that button releases the shifter I should be good to go, I'm locked in Park, but my truck thinks it's in Neutral so it wont unlock the shifter. I unhooked the battery and hoping that will reset it? If not I'm tearing that console apart :-)
thanks im going thru this rn. im going to try it and I will let u know how it goes. btw on the dash it shows like im on neutral. the gear looks like its on park.
@@cliffdiver1965 It's simple. Go under your car and there is a bar it might have an orange ring. It connects to another bar near it. Get some glue..ill give u the name tomorrow. Anyways. Connect those bars. Its easy. Your gear shift bars slipped.
Romy Gutierrez absolutely right. Transmission shift linkage bushing is probably broken. Autozone will have the part it is a dorman 14055. Pop that into place and you’re good to go.
You do realize that those blue clips you removed is what holds the wires into the plug itself right? The plug has a catch to the backside that releases it from the lookout solenoid, you only remove the blue lock clips to re-pin the plug.
When that occurred did your shifter not a line up and illuminate when you were clicking through the gears on the dash so what should be Park did it not show park when you went to reverse did it not illuminate and go to reverse when you went to neutral did it not show neutral
Good video but a good notice, a lot of cars are actually the same just different body panels or interior and brand name, Pontiac, Chevy, GMC. etc are all owned by GM and have the same engines, transmissions, and 80% of everything else. just different looks or different extra features. Ford, lincoln, Mercury and SOME years of Mazda are the same, so always look for what cars share a body and google problems for those ones too. My 2011 ford escape is the same as the 08-11 Mercury Mariner and Mazda Tribute.
GOOD information, thank u so much !!! Had to get towed for 140 .00 last month because the linkage below broke , so I can be on guard for this next . Also , I'm an older black guy , when I was a boy , tools came in a Standard size , meaning , and you Know where I'm going , nuts & Bolts came in a standard , and in those good ol days , you only needed a black & white TV , THAT to say , First came the foreign TOOLS and THEN the foreigners !!!!!! Do you by any chance know the exact name of that wire that was shorted out? I tried looking for it online and could not find it. I have a 2003 Trailblazer LT. Same problem as yours.
so long story short on your vehicle your black cable just popped out, right? are you sure you didnt pull it out because the release wasnt pressed? if the cable just came out, then you didnt need to replace anything, just fix the wire. also, that is not a short, its just a broken circuit. everyone tends to tug on wires as a lot of connectors are hard to get a hold of, myself included. i am dealing with an issue related to this, and i agree that there is very little information for how this system is to work and troubleshoot problems, but i take it that this is not a common problem, or wasnt common when the trailblazer was popular with the internet forums, this platform has gotten old on us and i think a lot of people moved on, not me i have two of them. due to health reasons i have not been able to diagnose my issue, but i was able to rip the side of the console open and pres on the solenoid button to unlock it. that is what i have been doing since may of this year. now that i am finally better, i am about to diagnose this. i have dealt with the shift link cable popping off from underneath the vehicle, but that is not the issue, i have also replaced the brake light switch that is on the pedal about two years ago due to cruise control not working, this could be the issue as i went with aftermarket parts and i dont trust them and many electrical circuits count on that switch besides just telling the brake system to slow the vehicle. i believe there should be clicking sounds from under the dash and under the console when you press on the brake pedal but i have zero clicks, this should be a huge clue to everyone having these issues. i have been popping that "backup" fuse for a about 1.5 years about once every 4 months or so, but at one time i could just replace that fuse and i could operate the vehicle as normal. but now its not even popping the fuse anymore and not working and having to manually press on that solenoid to get out of park. i am hopping my problem is that inter lock solenoid that you focused on in your video. my clue is that i think there is supposed to be two sources of clicking noise, i have zero clicks sounds. i shared so much info here as there is so little on the internet about this system and the problems it can bring.
A lot to read, but the wire had shorted out and once I fixed the wire and reconnected it the problem was solved. Checked all the other stuff you were mentioning.
Because there are afew different trucks that use same parts...stop being cheap and replace the harness and the part cause next time you won't be so lucky....
Hey Brother if you had taken your vehicle to a confident Automotive technician the technician would have been able to diagnose your car correctly within about 20 minutes even if someone had just put the diagnostic computer on the vehicle and went into body chassis there would have been a cold for the interlock which leads to technician into the direction why should say the correct direction

Your friggin awesome. This video helped simplify the issue fast, and kept me from ordering unnecessary guess part.
