Went here in 1998. It was just El Dorado then. A small resort, mostly small nicely appointed cabanas. We had one just steps from the ocean and didn’t have to pay any upgrade price. Food and service were very good. No crowds. It was wonderful. Sure has changed.
We have been to this resort 5+ times and it has been pretty consistent with what you present in this video. 😊 Great job, thanks for providing this.👍🏾 I'd like to link this in the description of one of my videos for my viewers to check out. Happy travels!
Thank you for your thorough review. It was a bit difficult to understand the layout and room styles from just their website alone, and your tour gave me a better picture.
Great in depth video , I am going to the el dorado royale in 2022 so really looking forward to it , 1 question , do they have somewhere in the resort where there is cigars and cognac at night ? I'm sure I read this somewhere ? Great video 👍🏼
We just booked for mid December. Anyone been there recently and can give a update during Covid? Heard capacity is like 30% so could be like having your own resort which ain’t that bad. Wondering if all the amenities are open with the capacity
I'll be traveling too around mid-December for my honeymoon. What I was told from the live chat they have in their website, is that capacity was increased to 50%, and that neither the pools, nor the beach or restaurants will manage any special COVID-19 schedule. I do advise you to download the Open Table App, in order to book your seats at the different restaurants, especially for the Fuentes Theater (they told me I don't need to make reservations for the other ones, but, something tells me I'll have to).
Went on honeymoon here late last year. stayed in the swim up casita, which was incredible. The beach is absolutely terrible, unswayable really. The first day we got there I slit my foot open on the rocks. They were insanely pushy on the "upgrades" / "stuff you gotta pay for" no buffets here whatsoever. the food was decent, nothing to write home about in my opinion. My wife felt the same way. The resort is incredibly beautiful and well kept though. We probably won't go back but it was a decent trip. TRS Yucatan Grand Palladium in our opinion is WAY better than this place was.
The beach doesnt look all that inviting. My wife and I consider that a major factor in choosing a resort. Any comments/recommendations on it? How bout the snorkeling?
I'd say the beach is mediocre. If beach is #1 for you, then keep looking. This resort is more focused on amenities and the gourmet food. They do have some water sports but most guests were hanging around the pool. They artificial reef, however, does boast some great sea life spotting opportunities.
In addition to common vaccinations, hepatitis A/B is recommended (due to water/ice processing standards). However, El Dorado takes care in food and drink preparation making it less of a concern. Bottled water is available in room (we used it to brush our teeth) and throughout the resort. Outside of the resort, check caps of bottles to ensure the the seal isn't broken.
Just returned. I have visited many resorts on Cancun and this is the most attractive in Cancun, but the food is medicore and the beach is nasty with large concrete blocks. No one got in the water. Alcohol is bottom shelf only.
I and my husband have gone here for many years. Please add if you pay or tip staff don't give them bad or torn money the Mexican government will exchange bad bills to them with less value. If you give someone a poor looking dollar bill, U.S. or other country they will be given less on what that dollar value. I hope this makes any since. The staff here are great. And work very hard, too please you. I never trust the people that stay there, I mean the guest. Keep an eye on your things. Others, the guest will take them. I know this it's fact. Someone was filmed a guest taking my sun glasses, and other things that were next to my chair. Also do NOT ask the staff if you can drive, the carts they can lose their job. And it takes them years to find a good paying job. Just be nice to all staff members. They need to work. Some don't see they're families for months at a time. Some walk, or ride a bike for hours to get to the resort. Any wrong doing on your part can cause them a days pay or the loss of a great job. I can't wait to go back soon. It's like a home to me.
I WENT THERE AND CAME BACK TWO DAYS AGO FOR MY DAUGHTERS DESTINATION WEDDING …… DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM OF A RESORT FOR THEY PROMISE U THE WORLD BUT WHEN U GET THERE , THEY LITERALLY STIFF YOU , BELIEVE ME YOU WILL REGRET IT …….. STAY AWAY AND GO ELSEWHERE……. RUN RUN RUN AND SAVE UR MONEY!!!!
This is such a thorough review and it hit all the points of interest. Thanks so much for this.

Me too, especially now. Definately will on our list again.

Good review; I'll reserve judgement until I have seen for myself in a few weeks time!
Enjoy your trip
Can someone please tell me which is the upgraded one between the Royale and Casitas? Thanks.
Do you know if all the rooms at El Dorado renovated or just this building? Thanks !
They were working on other buildings one by one. I am not sure of the current status. You can contact them at 1-866-527-4762
awesome review!
thank u for the tour never been there n planning my wedding there in feb of net year . i know it adult only but is the age limit 20-21
I think it's 18+
Perfect Review! 😍😍😍
Thank you. It's a wonderful resort.
I've heard mixed comments about the beach here. Is it possible to go over beyond the artificial reef to do some swimming?
I recall kayaks venturing beyond the reef but I didn't see swimmers. There are breaks/gaps in the reef if you were to attempt it.

Every time I go there, there is a vendor with cigars by the main "theater" (where the shows are). I'm not sure about cognac

This is an awesome review. I am a travel agent and like to use this video to promote this resort.
Please feel free to share.
