Also he still tells a crazy story about her peeing in a restaurant in front of everybody while filming buffalo 66. How much of this is Gallo's imagination makes you wonder. I think part of it is bitterness at her moving on in her career after buffalo. (great film).
Vincent Gallo is a very strange dude. I have a friend who shot the music video of REM's Bittersweet Me. Originally Gallo was supposed to be in it but the director, Dominic, had a falling out with Gallo. Apparently, Dominic had to take him around, be his chauffeur, etc. Gallo kept demanding he buy him things. They entered a porn shop, per his request, and demanded Dominic buy every movie. Like.. All of it. He just kept saying "buy that shit. Buy it. All of it." Or he wouldn't be in the music video. At that point Dominic basically told him to fuck off. Long story short. My friend Jonny ended up being in the music video instead.
My hunch: Ricci is a consummate professional, Gallo is not. Gallo ~probably~ wanted to hook up with her at some point in the production, Ricci ~probably~ did not and thus wanted to get back at her.
Wow, she ACTUALLY took up for Gallo. I've had a crush on her since I was 7, and she always seemed like such a sweet person, and I love Buffalo '66, but I hate that he was so brutal to her. I'm glad she survived Hollywood as a child actress, very cool to hear her on Rick and Morty the other night.

In Buffalo 66 she was the most beautiful she has ever looked. It helped that she was playing a kind of fantasy woman. I don't think any woman would really behave like that (but no one in the film really behaved like real people do). The film makes no sense but I love it to death.

Whether it's Layla, Billy's parents, the musical sequences, even Billy's desire to kill a football player because he missed a kick--everything seems exaggerated, askew--even absurd. Unclear what Gallo was going for, but his unique vision does make for an interesting film.
