People say this was a bad subplot but it was quite emotional and humbling for Donna. This is pretty much what lead her to pursue her goal of becoming COO and proving she could be more than just Harvey Specter's legal secretary. All subplots don't have to be extraordinary but are needed for character development.

Ok I admit that later in the series, Donna was acting more superhuman than normal, taking intuition and comradeship to a whole unrealistic level. But I think the point to emphasize here is not the Donna, but the fact that she realized that she needed to be more ambitious and claim a title worth her work to be able to gain respect in society and show people like those trash investors that she is worth a lot more than what they were making her out to be.
"You're a corporate secretary. What did you expect?" - Gretchen. I agree with you on the point of this storyline but the show also told us Donna chose to follow Harvey her whole career and he paid her extravagantly for it to the degree that Louis thought a zero had been added to her salary by mistake when he found out how much it was. If Donna wanted to take a step forward with her career that's fine but she never actually works towards her goal or grows as a person. She just kinda demands a seat at the table and acts angry whenever she is challenged despite the fact she never brought any money to the firm.

Honestly they were extremely nice about it. Imagine Donna on shark tank lol she would have got absolutely destroyed to her face. Now imagine shark tank without the cameras: she would have been disrespected and laughed out the door in 30 seconds flat
Lol. A Donna spinoff would be a huge flop just like the Jessica spinoff and Jessica was a way more liked character. Donna was turned into a very unlikable character. I could see her and Harvey's marriage lasting a couple of years before Harvey gets sick of her spoiled, manipulative, entitled princess antics and files for divorce.
That plot makes completely no sense. Yes Donna is a secretary, but the partnership also has an I.T. wizkid who developed the machine learning in what is essentially a responsive robot. That kind of algo would be invaluable.

Donna is THE GOAT. I haven’t even watched an actual full episode of Suits (just these clips that keep popping up in my RUclips feed) and she might be one of the greatest female “support characters” EVER.
The Donna ultimately led to her realization that she wanted more than a secretarial career. The writers could've done ANYTHING else to work in that plot other than "The Donna." It was incredibly cringe.
Donna..like the sleek, arrow-like Cutty Sark, scything through rough waters on a starboard tack, sails full, masts bent....when she glides along you watch, then you listen, and if she says "jump to it!", you do, asking how far on the way up.
I love suits but I just find it weird how Donna, Benjamin and Mike all had something close to superpowers and we're told they're just like that. Everything else is a normal law firm dealing with normal cases yet 3 characters have superhuman abilities
