I brought this same kit yesterday from Amazon it came today. And was was like what the hell is doesn’t fill my heater. So I decided to check here on RUclips and this video was the first to pop up. And now I know what to do tomorrow to get my heater back up a running. My line broke a leaked all my fuel out I reconnected the line and it disintegrated. So thank you for this video. I use my diesel heater to heat my greenhouse. This is the third year for my unit. Thanks again.
I had to do the same thing you did. Bought my heater in fall of 2023. Worked great all winter. Put it in storage for the summer in a room in my basement. Went to get it out in October and it had leaked diesel fuel on the floor. Replace lines and fuel pump & it works great and is quieter.
Last nite went to start my heater and found that those black rubber tubes perished inside and turned to black gummy soft gunk, which then started to travel up the fuel lines and into filters. But that was after about five years, so maybe u should keep your eye on them.
With my kit i also got the green fuel lines but a friend told me they were no good and gave me a pair of white ones. I installed it exactly like yours, with the black tubes and clamps. Worked well for a few months but then it started leaking from the point where the tube enters the gas tank. Tightening or loosening the bolts doesn’t work. So maybe you wanna check that!
I have the vertical 8kw unit. It has the same green tubing inside. I was wondering why there is no ignition. Well, the fuel line looks like someone has cut it with not cutters several times. Now I have to find a fuel line upgrade kit...
@@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10I would after 2000hours check the internals ( burn chamber, atomizer screen it comes with, glow plug.. might have some black soot.. would be worth while cleaning it out before it throws an error code and lots of white smoke
I guess after seeing alot of bad things going on with that cheap green fuel line, I will just replace mine when I get me heater before I use it. There is good clear fuel line at the hardware store for sure.
i installed mine and working good till last night yesterday night heater stop working and showing error lack of fuel….. I connect fuel line to direct fuel tank of the sprinter van any recommendations to fix this issue….
I haven't encountered that situation yet but there are many videos on YT showing possible issues for the lack of fuel problem. That sounds frustrating, I hope you can figure it out.
Both Your diesel tank and your fuel line are getting destroyed by the sun! - My water tank look exactly like your diesel tank. - protect the tank from the UV rays, and it will last much longer ;-) an enclosure of some kind will protect your investment, and keep You warm for a long time ;-) - Have a nice day
Hi I have 2 diesel heaters used one last winter to heat my converted cargo trailer had some issues with it. Any way bought same upgrade for my second heater ,thanks for your video. Might be wrong but I noticed your intake air tube seemed to be a bit to close to you our exhaust tube ,I would be concerned about carbon monoxide.regards.Dan
Thanks Dan I appreciate your input. The air intake for the blower and the heat output are both inside the building. The small intake tube outside the building is the intake for the burn chamber and then that is exhausted outside the building as well. I believe I’m safe from potential carbon monoxide inside the building. At least that’s how I understand it. Does that make sense to you?
Yes that intake air does not go into the room you are heating, only the burn chamber. If the burn chamber is leaking then youve got bigger problems lol@@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10
Are you sure thats not just algae ? From what ive been told more than once. Your not supposed to store diesel for long periods especially when exposed to sunlight as it turns rancid and grows algae

Glad to hear you got it fixed!

Good info and thanks for the heads up! 👍

I really like the diesel heaters. Hope the diesel fuel dissolving the green line didn’t damage your heater?
I don't think it damaged the heater Mark. So far it seems to run just fine but time will tell.

That’s a good idea 👍🏻
I just ordered one and the only big complaint I see is the fuel lines and lack of filter so I ordered those at the same time.

I think you need to insert the whit fuel all the way up the black line,so the diesel fuel has minimum contact with the blacl line
What size is the white fuel line?
I don’t know but it probably tells you in the production information found on link listed in the video description.
@@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 It did thanks i realised after commenting...👍

That tank is not UV resistant either. I made mine out of an old propane tank.

No I'm not sure, yes it could be diesel algae but I really don't know for sure.
Sunlight can do a real number on plastic if it's in a hot spot, and that tubing is lousy to begin with.
When the black hose goes over a nipple you’re good but I’m not so sure about the black hose over the white tube. Any others please comment.
