Crafting in the campaign should be 100% a mandatory part of the game. You NEED to train players to use the crafting system before endgame starts. It's an engaging part of the game that most casuals never get to interface with. Some body blocking is good, but needing to spec into a specific node or farm for some unique item in order to have phasing during your roll is basically making it inaccessible to some classes or till end game. There are plenty of games where rolling allows you to clip through enemies that have amazing combat. Personally I think it's a good idea.
Stuff like mana sustain feels bad because it is to abstract most of the time. Its is hard to plan for it properly because there are a lot of factors that is hard to measure. DPS Sustain/Mobgroup HP - nothing feels more shitty than retreating 2 times to clear a standard or midtier group - stuff like that translates in "feel" that, wich issnt quantifiable. Manipulating youre mana sustain issnt usually flexible enough either to mitigate shortages depending on gear and skill choice while you progress. We will see how it will feel in POE2 - But one thing is constant. Skills will need a ressource to use them in to balance power and create options. Its either time or the abstarct ressource like mana. there arent much option technically speaking.

I can't wait to watch the god gamer destroy all bosses the first week, beat the game with giga 5head plays, destroying the meta with minimal stalling and 0 tech issues
Would mana be better if it was like, you can still cast at 0 mana but it just does considerably less damage? Because I think mana can be cool and there are so many mechanics interacting with it in PoE, but the feeling of not being able to cast or stuttering between casts always feels bad.
A major change they addressed was that hitting an ability when you're at zero mana, only for your character to do nothing, doesn't feel good. They've stated doing so in the sequel will have your character throw out their basic attack instead, which in POE2 is a support gem socketable 0 mana cost skill. Depending on how socket pressure plays out with abilities, we could very well see one button builds that use the idea of a 6-linkable basic attack to their advantage! Additionally, they've already confirmed they changed how potions work, away from what is being playtested and shown here. It's now one health and one mana potion, with an upgradeable amount of charges within them to be gained throughout the campaign - so we'll have to see how mana pressure feels both A. in the early game, and B. as something to be 'solved' in more mana hungry builds.
As to the mana issue to solve, the problem is the other issues you solve often don't stop you from using your skill entirely. Loosing control like that just sucks.
