But what you're missing is loyal Samsung people like myself with last year's model will probably get $1,000 trade in credit for the phone so really it's only costing you three or 400 bucks for a brand new phone whereas the pixel you're paying 900 bucks for a new phone that's quite a difference
I think I agree, what they could instead do is, just release s23 ultra and s23, then later down the year release s23 lite/fe with cut down specs that seems a bit more sensible
@Tristin471 I personally have the 128gb version of the s22 ultra and have never came close to maxing out the memory but I sometimes grab a pair of wired headphones while not paying attention and am brought back to the sad reality of not being able to use ANY of them with the ultra. 😑☹️
I would agree with you on this and on the iPhone 14 plus that came out. It seems that the companies are doing these "plus phones" as a cheaper alternative to their top-tier flagship but the problem is you have flagship phones like the pixel 7 pro who are at the same price point but give you the top-tier flagship. I think all manufacturers including Google should give us a top-tier phone in different sizes and call it a day.
I have the S23 Plus and I don't agree on many points. I personally don't care about the display resolution. I'd keep it on FHD and even 60Hz. I'd hate the curved display (and the super glossy shiny body) on the Pixel 7 Pro and it's a little too big for me. Whereas 6.1" is too small. I snatched it with double storage (512GB for the price of 256GB) and Samsung actually provides more firmware updates right now than the Pixel 7 will get - not as if I'd keep the phone for 5 years anyway. There are small limitations too here, as we don't get 5G with the Pixel - which is no dealbreaker but still. The battery difference is not significant but the Pixel 7 Pro charges even slower than the S23+. The price is the only thing I may consider even though the difference is less here. However, I still get tempted from time to time if I should return the Galaxy S23+ and get a Pixel 7 Pro.
I agree Pixel 7 Pro is an amazing phone given the price point. However the reason why Samsung keeps making the Plus variant is solely based on the sales numbers forecast based on previous models' history.. It absolutely makes sense if you understand that regardless of your personal preference.
Man, you have helped me! I've been struggling to decide and holding off till the unpacked event. I have the S21 ultra. It has some connectivity problems. I really don't want the Note s pen. If I drop to the non ultra, no QHD which is a problem for what you pay. IDK, I have a 3 year old Samsung watch. I can let it go for something else. Also earbuds pro2 which would work fine on Pixel. I might do it tonight and get the Pixel 7pro.
The S23 Ultra will be really nice. If you want to wait two weeks and see what it has to offer, maybe that might be an option too. But the Pixel 7 Pro and the S23 Ultra are both going to be good options.
I had the Pixel 7 Pro for two weeks. For me it´s not so good as many people talk. Camera are very good but the Touchfeeling on the Screen feel cheap. QHD Screen has in grey and white are red/magenta tint. Viewing angel is for an OLED not good. See the colorshift in many videos. The loutspeakers are not good balanced. Sound like 70/30 not 60/40 on other phones. Batterylife ist okay. Loadingtime is high. I test the S23+ today. In preorder it cheaper with 512GB as the 7 Pro 256GB.
They need to change the prices. The only way it's worth it to get an s22 plus is if you have a Samsung phone to trade in since Samsung does do some of the best trade-ins.
Pixel seriously needs to bring back physical fingerprint sensor IMO. I hate on screen fingerprint sensors. One reason why I skipped 6 and 7 even with the price cuts.... I have used the OG pixel, pixel 2xl and 3 xl..... And loved it! But with the kind of reviews and whatnot, I'd keep my distance for now...unless, they come up with a physical fingerprint sensor..i might sway then. Just my thoughts.
@@TechOdyssey seems like a common factor for screenlocks across the board...for on screen fringerprint sensors.. my brother bought a Motorola phone just a month ago...he was showing it to me, and when i tried it, it unlocked.... and the funny thing is, i could unlock it with all my 10 digits...one after the other. It was hilarious.... He isn't too fussy about phones so he just kept it. I don't recall the model, but it was a lower end Motorola. Also, physical fingerprint cause they usually don't crack or, incase they go haywire, one "could" replace it. Well, that's how I see it.
Amen. The Pixel 7 Pro fp reader is inferior to the Samsung fp reader. The Pixel would have created a better user experience by using the "old school" capacitive fp reader. As it stands I rely on Google's superior face unlock (superior for being only camera-based), but when it gets dark unlocking the Pixel can become a hassle. As the single user experience that 99% of us use every time we touch our phone, unlock is critically important. Using a cheap under-screen sensor was the wrong move. Google did it purely because they believe consumers would not perceive their flagship as legitimate without it. So here we are, stuck with a marginal under-screen fp reader.
The finger print sensor on my Pixel 6A doesn't work despite registering multiple fingers several times. I have to use the Pin instead. Didn't Google Engineers test the sensor before releasing the phones? They don't seem to have engineers who tested the phone in real life ( previous problems with poor battery life Pixel 4 etc ). Even a cheap Nokia / Motorola phones have better finger print sensor ( side mounted ).
@@bengoey Hey, I feel you man. Sucks! Had it been physical one, we might have had a chance to get it repaired... I am no expert, but I've had one repaired/replaced in the past...
Man, the battery of the s22u is so bad I'm looking to get rid of it and have been considering the + to get something slightly smaller and even convinced myself a 1080 display with 4700 battery and sg2 processor will last all day and then some. It's still tough since I know Samsung always offers good trade in value so I'd likely pay nothing, but the points you made don't sit well with me. S23 and + really aren't flagship anymore, which is such a shame and, as you pointed out, just wrong at that price point
Everything you’re saying on each one of these devices a spot on. I’ve had a 22 ultra and 22 standard . I actually wanted something that was shaped and size of the plus, but held off on purchasing the 22 + because of the lack luster specs and reviews on the device based on the thousand dollar mark and up. I was hoping the 23 was going to be better especially given the bad reviews in a lot of comparisons. I figured Samsung would step up. Nope. That launch was a yawner. So, since Samsung didn’t want to make a phone for someone like me, well, pixel did. So, I have a new 7 Pro coming to me. Then, I saw a side-by-side comparison, while they were doing a speed test. The Samsung plus screen isn’t even remotely as good as the pixel 7. pro. The differences are stupefying. I’m so glad I made the right decision.
2:47 Oh yes there are compromises. The fingerprint sensor is lousy. The Pixel 7 serious would've been better off with the capacitive fingerprint scanner. Many would argue the processor was a compromise too.
I think you have some very valid points. I haven't used a device from Samsung in many years. However, I do miss the way you were able to purchase fonts and change the font as you wish. I wish Google would build into Android the ability to change fonts to different styles. That would be a game changer in my book.
@@jakublizon6375 I'd like to have the option to. Right now you can't really change the fonts in stock. Android. You have to download a launcher to do that. I'd just like to be able to change fonts without a third party launcher.
@@abowolewa Sorry lol, I understand. I guess I can't really argue with at least having the option. I would like more fonts too. I've always just found it kind of frustrating the you have to pay for them.
@@Someone-ey6cc Doesn't rooting come with other problems and unusable features like GPay, bank apps etc? I really wanted to change the font, icons shape and remove that damn top date on the pixel but idk if root is fine to do?
The pixel 7 pro is a very bad quality handset. One year after this video - and two pixel 7 pros later, I switched to the s23 - The pixel 7 pro is a buggy mess, very poor battery life.
Oh boy! After a lot of thinking and research, and frustration due to worst battery and heating I had somehow made up my mind to move from s22 to s23+. But you've made me rethink now. I don't want to move away from Samsung at the moment. But I don't want to suffer with battery & heating again for sure. Do you think battery life will be better (substantially) on s23 than s22? I don't really like large phones.. Really confused now.. And want to stick with a phone for couple of years.
If you don't mind change of operating system, consider iPhone. I am at present using iPhone 13 Mini ( main phone) and Pixel 6A ( secondary phone for use when abroad using local Sim ) both have advantages but if I have to have one phone only, I would choose iPhone.
Oh I think your early predictions here were wrong. The S23 is the freshest set of hardware kit you can buy competing against the bottom of the parts bin Pixel 7 Pro which still overheats, has a slower storage processor and has lots its edge when it comes to software updates. If i were buying a phone right now and am always buying phones(lol) my money is on the Samsung with its updated and more efficient processor, amazing screen and wifi7 plus faster storage and ram.
Got my s22+ But the battery backup is terrible compared to my previous phone, the poco f3 which can pretty much get me through the day, comfortably after a year of use. Hoping to get my hands on the s23 and hoping for better battery backup
I can see where your arguments come from and I wish I could care enough about having the best. However, I also enjoy the physical aspect of the phone and I think with the size of the Plus model it gives you the bigger phone without feeling super big. The ergonomics of the Plus are what make me really like it over the boxy Ultra model. Obviously I agree with you and you should definitely try to get the Plus model on sale or on a deal than paying $1000; but it is the model I prefer the best. I do think the lineup should be: S23 - $699/$749 S23 Plus - $799/$849 S23 Ultra - $999/$1099/$1199
Thanks. I been a samsung user for the last 5 years (A7x series). Been thinking about upgrading to an S23 but I want to check out this Pixel 7 Pro. Way cheaper.
be upset If u truly pay full retail$$, then yes. Galaxy’s especially in the u.s. carriers store go a sale or have deals with 90 days of launch. Trade in deals help bring that price down as well.
Only problem with Pixel Pro is that curved screen that will likely break, no thanks no more curved screens for me, as much as I like the looks of it, they are not practical.
Love your vids but I disagree. The s22+/s22+ is more flagship than the pixel. Better processor, fingerprint sensor, overall build quality and longer software support with the Samsung.
I don’t think build quality is any better. Better biometrics, yes. Better processor. Smaller battery, inferior camera capabilities, $250 more, and both are supported for 5 years.
The S23 will sell ton loads more units, not because it's necessarily the better phone, but because Samsung is a brand people know. I don't know about in the US, but here in London, I reckon if you asked 50 people what they think of Pixel phones, about 40 would say, never heard of them. Simply because Google don't advertise them enough.
True. I only know 2 people who own a pixel and one of those people is me . All the other people I know own Samsung and Apple devices . Samsung does have better hardware , including displays , pixels have better software. Shame they can't make a joint device
Exactly this. I said to my partner about possible upgrades. She was like oh all I want is Samsung though as I know how to work that 🤦🏼♂️ Currently as it is I think the motorolla is a solid option too right now. I've got the note 20 5g exynos version, loving the flat screen and do use the stylus. Super smooth with android 13. But what to get next? It's a minefield! I hear pixel have awful speakers and curve screen but awesome cam. Moto 30 ultra has a mediocre/good cam and curve screen but charges at 125w! Samsung's are just ££££ now and they have gone the greedy route. Note 20 is perfect but their is no equivalent right now 😫
I do have the S g10+ and was looking at what is new. Not as cheap in Canada, for sure. What I didn't like about Google was not having an SD card and a plug so you didn't have to use Bluetooth for headphones, and I don't like pix saved to Google picture. So maybe I will wait to get a phone and see what comes out next yr..
I've ordered the s23+. I am getting it through T-Mobile, which I like for my areas. They are giving me the phone for free, considering my 13 mini trade in. It has a 512 GB upgrade for free. I strongly considered the Pixel 7 but you don't have HDMI out (S 23+ DOES) T-Mobile has UNLIMITED high speed data on the device. (TRULY UNLIMITED) So I can watch Netflix/Prime on my tv Neither the Pixel or the Samsung have SD slot, but the 512 upgrade takes the sting out of that. I live in a rural area with no cable, but usable 5g speeds.
What are you basing this on? S23U will likely be an overall better phone but it's $200 more than a P7P so that much is expected but the Plus will be inferior in many ways like the S22 Plus was and is against the P6P/P7P.
Sadly influencers and enthusiast asked for this, now look at us, I'm just hoping samsung doesn't ccontinue to listen cause we're headed for elementary animations in favor of robust software, be careful what you wish for, hopefully we can get the 1440p back, the plus will never get the flagship cameras and probably doesn't need them but the res it needs, Sammy knows the note consumer is most important, the fold is great but they have a couple of years before it's the go to. Plus needs to be 899 w1440p or 799 without. Keep both non ultra sizes 100 Dollar difference and bring the ultra down 100, that would be the perfect storm for the s line.
Pixels are a fantastic phone fantastic cameras BUT and a massive but they are completely unreliable as an actual phone that you actually make calls and talk to people. Not one reviewer takes the time of day to review call quality signal strength on any damned phone they ever review. It's buggy bastard and if you drop it more than once well good luck.
If you like the Plus for the flat display and decent camera, get it. However, it is not worth $1000. If you can get it for $700 or less with a trade in, then I would go for it. Honestly the only phones I would consider from Samsung going forward are the Ultra or the FE(if they choose to continue it).
Don't quote me on this, but don't Google phones get supported for a shorter time on updates? I have the S21plus and it is still running like the day I bought it. I do wish it was a little more premium for what I paid for it. But with running the latest version of Android it I can't find any performance bugs.
The Pixel phones are supported with 3 years of software updates and 5 years is security patches. Samsung offers 4 years of OS updates and 5 years of security patches. Both are supported for 5 years but also the Pixel comes out 4-5 months earlier than the Samsung phones with the newer OS, so it’s about equal anyway. Maybe 6-8 months longer for the OS update.
Hey, love your points. I am an iPhone user but only because my wife won't switch to Android and thus the whole family is on iPhone for the family sharing features and such. Anyways, I like having an Android phone to do various things on (messing about, checking out apps before paying full price, sideloading to my android boxes, etc). I dont need an amazing camera or battery, but want snappy. The Android I still have is old and horrible (LG G6). If you include the Chinese market, which phone would you recommend for Price x Value x as stock as possible.
@@TechOdyssey i really like 1+ it's just the waiting on the updates suck!!!!! But I enjoy the in hand feel of the phone, I also truly appreciate how smooth & lightning fast it is. But the battery life on this doesn't last anytime it's terrible. I have a few phones S22U iphone 13 pro Pixel 7 pro & The 6 lol I'll stop there like I said I need to trade this phone in cus of battery life. I'll get an awesome carrier discount on both S23 + & the 1+11 it's just not a pro version so ..... Idk? Lol
So glad you're calling Samsung out for silently gimping specs.. no version of the ultra should be 8gb ram when the note 10 plus had a base of 12gb/256 storage ....not to mention that the s20 plus was the last plus model flagship before they neutered it
I really wish I could get the Google pixel 7 pro. But with the camera shattering spontaneously with several users it's a risk I'm not willing to take and it sucks I really want it to upgrade from the Google Pixel 3 that I'm currently using because it's time for me to upgrade
I'm a Google pixel 7 pro owner and I do have to throw in a word of caution. The Google pixel 7 pro just does not do some processing as well as the Samsung series phones. Although the last Samsung they had was the Note 9 but I can tell you as a full-time ride. Sure driver when running my ride share apps. This phone runs incredibly warm. My Note 9 would never get more than 7° above ambient temperature even when charging and the LG Velvet. That's the Google pixel 7 pro is replacing. Would only get about 5° above ambient even when charging the Google pixel 7 pro. However, when I'm running my ride share app with my mileage tracking app running in the background which all three devices were running the same setup. Same mileage tracking app. Same ride. Sure apps. The Google pixel 7 pro never runs anything less than 7° hotter than ambient temperature. And if you're navigating to pick up a passenger or drop a passenger off, it will regularly run between 15 and even 20° above ambient temperature and when it is plugged in charging. Since I do not charge my phones to 100% and let them sit there, it will get up to 25° above ambient temperature. Since I started measuring the temperature of the google pixel 7 pro, it's never exceeded 100° f but on that very first day I used it and I would touch the sides. When I was out working doing rideshare, it felt so much hotter over ambient temperature that it was painful to touch the few days I used it before that though it seemed like a great phone. Great battery life. Great processing. Great! Everything now. Keep in mind straight out of the box. I did turn the display up to 120 Hertz from the factory 60 Hertz that it's set at and I also turned the resolution up from the factory 1080 to 1440. So those are two things that are playing in as a factor to why the phone runs so hot. But keep in mind that when I retired the note 9 from doing this job, it still lasted longer on a single charge from a certain low state of charge to a certain high state of charge that I would charge it to. Then the Google pixel 7 pro does for doing the exact same work. It's just when you're running a ride share app. The phone wasn't necessarily meant to have enough proper processing sent to that type of task. So it's something that is pushing all of the side processors really hard because the main processor is a video processor that is good with data and the secondary master processor is designed to work well with the cameras for editing and taking high resolution photos. Anything? That's way outside of the scope of that stuff. This phone might get a little bit hot but the phone mount that I have in my car almost completely covers the back of my phone and only a few millimeters are sticking out to either side to actually allow air to get to the back of my phone and for cooling. Except for the fact that the camera shelf does push the actual body of the phone away a little bit to give that little bit of extra cooling, but in the same phone mount in the same car. This is the phone out of those three phones that I mentioned that performs the worst. As far as how hot does it get so keep that in mind. And I haven't tried running my phone for doing ride share yet with turning the refresh rate down to 120 and the resolution down to 1080 and that could help to reduce processing power which would probably help to reduce heat and extend my battery life more because it runs so hot. I'm on the fence about paying my carrier, the $50 restocking fee and getting a Samsung s22 series phone. I liked my Note 9 so I may go with the ultra but that's the only one that has a good battery life of the Samsung phones anymore. It's also the only one that has the same size battery as the pixel 7 pro stand by time on the pixel 7 pro. If you just let the phone sit there and you don't do anything with it and you're not getting texts and notifications can be over 2 days. I haven't actually left it sitting there long enough to do that but 4 hours of sitting there going into my phone and then going into battery to see how long it predicts and I'm seeing upwards of 2 days 16 hours predicted. On the very few occasions I charge the phone up to 100% and then do nothing and let it sit there.
i just bought a s23+ yesterday after having a s20+ for years. im going back today to get a pixel 7 pro. i have lost sooo many features that i have had for years from upgrading.
Samsung still makes the best displays though. I have Pixel and Galaxy devices and it's no contest on the display quality but Google is smoking Samsung with the camera and the feel of the software when using it. Stock android is just so smooth.
@@8_x_9. Can't speak much about Sony as I have never bought their phones. Unfortunately they are not very popular in the US at least nowhere near as popular as Samsung, Google, Motorola ect...
@@8_x_9. Sony doesn`t have the brightest screens, I hate the aspect ratio and the 4k screen just uses more battery life imo. But I love their design with no notch, the good af system, the headphone jack and usb 3.
I haven't been this on the fence in a while. I've had and loved Pixel phones for years now- but my 6 pro has had THE WORST camera quality, it literally depresses me. My Pixel 3 and 4 were better. I'm confident I got a defect but Google wouldn't help or acknowledge it... which was also a first. But it's making me rethink trying another one. I'm traveling more, I want good photos, and I don't want to be stuck with grainy and out of focus memories...I used to swear by Google being so seamless, but now I'm not so sure. I don't know if anyone else has had these issues with recent Pixel Phones and Google shrugging them off. I need to upload videos I've taken so you can see how truly awful camera quality I've been stuck with
1. You're comparing a product that's not even released yet to give real experience comparisons. 2. Which means you're going off tech specs on paper, in which case the Samsung blows the pixel out of the water. Pixels real value comparative is cost, which is a minimal consideration unless you have minimal disposable income. Samsung S23 will whoop pixel phones in nearly every spec.
I've been having the longest debate about downgrading from my s22 Ultra to an s23 plus mainly for the size and flat display. However, your video makes a lot of good points. What are your thoughts on the s23 Ulta dumors that it may have a flatter/less curved display?
That's not the point. Samsung has no flagship besides s stylus dependent ultra/note. The Galaxy S series flagship doesn't exist anymore. The plus has so many compromises amd terrible value. If you like a Note like phone, you're good. I'm sure the s23 ultra will be a fantastic phone.
I am about ready to ditch Samsung and head straight for a Pixel 7 Pro. I have seen and heard nothing but good things from every tech reviewer on the 7 Pro. Only issue is, I don't know if Verizon is going to be as generous with trade-ins on a Pixel 7 Pro versus a Galaxy S23+
Likely trade in value won’t be as good. Historically it’s very bad through Samsung and apple. But, maybe Verizon will be better. Carriers usually do better with non-Sammy and apple phones
@@TechOdyssey - When I got my S21 two years ago, Verizon did not have a single trade-in deal available for me to trade-in my LG V40 for the Pixel 4a 5G that I wanted. Hopefully that changes this time lol
I want to purchase pixel 7 pro over the S23+ but I'm hearing that pixel phones has a bad network & wifi connection issues..a phone which is unable to do an initial work of a phone how can i purchase that kind of problematic phone... But i want to experience the stock android... So what should I do now.....please suggest me....Love from India Adam....
How so? The 7 pro is just as fast as the s22 ultra if not faster/smoother in day to day tasks, it only really suffers in gaming but it's a phone not a console, aside from that the pixel is just as flagship as any other flagship is.
They also need to stop cheaping out on the regular S series (21/22). Poor haptics, poor speakers, poor fingerprint scanner, single band GPS!! Looking forward to at least having sonic gen 3 fingerprint scanner on S23. If no-name Chinese phones can afford it, so can you Samsung. Dear Samsung, Stop trying to be Apple. Apple users buy iPhone for the brand. Android users buy and recommend based on specs. So up your game.
the bad battery life is the reason I bought the iPhone 13 instead. I´m more of a android person, but I want good battery life with a ~6" screen. Atleast there is the Asus Zenphone 9 now as a compact android phone with nice performance and good battery life.
If you didn't preorder the 23+ wait until the price drops. I got the 23+ on preorder with the free storage upgrade, $150 off and cash back from CC and rakuten. Otherwise $999 too much for this phone. Should be $850
As a S22+owner, I couldn't agree with you more. Only got it cuz I dont need a S pen nor do I like the boxy design.Wish google had some good trade in deals cuz I've really been eyeing the pixel pro 7..maybe when the 8 comes out..who knows.
I would love to try the pixel tbh ive never used one and i never really seen anyone with them since most ppl in my area dont even know other flagship phones exist besides an iphone
I have said this for years QHD displays on a 6 to 7" screen means nothing but paper wins the pixel density on a s22+ is 400plus not a single person can sit here an say I can notice a top notch QHD display an FHD display if I handed it to them an didn't tell them. The argument of QHD an FHD smartphone screens is insanely stupid
I often play games on my phone with my friends and that’s the only reason I’m still on the fence leaning towards S23+ The tensor g2 is weak compared to Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. So if you want a phone with long term software support, impressive camera and an emphasis on gaming/performance then the S23+ is arguably a better option than Pixel. Still haven’t ruled out the Pixel though, I’m looking into how it performs in games, If it can turn prove to be a reasonable upgrade over my current setup then I’ll probably buy it over the S23 for the aesthetic appeal alone
Noob snapdragon at least google create and build with heir own chip product tensor than using snapdragon just like other phone used. No,no,and no, pixel camera cannot be compete by samsung and you are wrong if you want to said samsung camera is better than pixel. If you watch many comparison, than you know why. I use pixel no issues of google tensor. It may not high power as snapdragon but it is build to be a smartest chip and google phone have alll the google features that iss tooo wayyy farrr bettter than samsung and any other android phone. Again, you are wrong if you want to battle of fight about camera bcs no one android phone can beat pixel camera 😚
Wait let me get this straight.. Now most of the tech reviewers Don't like what Samsung is doing? They've been fucking up after the S10 series. Once they start eliminating hardware features and letting you pay more for less I was out. I have been switched to the pixel. Why should I buy a Samsung device that offers roughly the same hardware features and pay more?
I got my Pixel 7 Pro super cheap after the trade in deals and $150 off promotion. I am now sending it back for a replacement as the screen started flickering and has green bars on it when it gets hot. I would not recommend this phone to anyone. I'm going to be trading in the replacement to Verizon for the S23 ultra. I bought this phone brand new and after only 2 months, the screen is dead. Truly disappointing but not surprising.
The S20 series was the last series where you could get the base model and not feel that you were missing out on much. Now if you want all the bells and whistles you have to go Ultra.
Not trying to be an asskiss but I cannot agree with you more on your views on Google’s direction and their results as well as the notorious and inevitable Samsung comparison. Your Google views have not only been spot on, theyre simply fair praise and critiques. Cool to see. I’ve owned a slew of Samsung mid and high end devices and found them really neat but the unpolished, and/or glitchy skin aspect constantly reminds me it’s a combination of systems that make them function. You simply notice a battle between the UI and the stock. I currently flip flop from an IP 13 Pro max to the P7 Pro and as much as I love the typical high end displays of Samsung and extra option of their UI, there’s something just - cleaner, snappier and more stable about the Pixel 7/7P in day to day. Just something to be said about having your own OS/device combo that makes Samsung gear feel super strong and steroided out, but it just still feels like a combination of gears to tick whereas the Pixel and that stale yet smooth Apple IOS feels like their own entity, or complete. Obvi depends on how you’re wired but for me personally a stable, polished system with less horsepower just feels more appealing. But Im old as dirt and crave steady, smart, fast and refined etc. Samsung has great stuff but i think Google and Apple have a tier of their own. Your content is killer dude txs.
Pixel pro doesn't support Miracast and this is a heart breaker. This is the worst thing about it for me. Just a simple feature makes a huge difference for me.
I upgraded from an S9 to an S22 at launch last year. The battery was horrible...for the first 3 days. After that, it stabilized and now it lasts all day for me, and I use it a lot. Before I got my S22, I bought a Pixel 6 and used it for less than 24 hours before I put my sim card back in my S9 and waited for the S22 to release. The fingerprint reader on the Pixel 6 was finicky as Hell, and I didn't realize when I bought it that you cant customize really anything, from removing that annoying Google search bar at the bottom of the home screen, to not being able to change the clock style on the lock screen, and the volume button being below the power button was just irritating. The ONLY thing I loved about it was the pictures I took with it. They looked awesome, but awesome pictures arent a good enough sell for me.
I've been using the pro since it came out I pre-ordered it I thought they were great but the last month in a bit my phone it's always losing internet connection so I have to restart my phone a couple times a day at least we've done all the usual resets of Wi-Fi internet damn it keeps conking out I'll be watching RUclips and suddenly I get the little circle of death going around and around endlessly this just turned out to be the worst phone I've ever had because internet is key to a good phone and without internet these things are useless I am so disappointed you shouldn't have to restart your phone a couple times a day just to hook up to the internet I would recommend never buying Google phones again cuz they're horrible at least this one is I have had the pro like I said since pre-order and I can't get through a day without losing internet connection and it doesn't happen on any other devices that I'm using 🤷
Man, as a person who doesn't give a damn about cameras, I wish I could get a phone with a top of the line processor and 10 year old cameras at a cheaper price point.
I happened to take photos this week with a Pixel from a colleague. Wow are they good! I have an S21U and yes, with expert raw the pictures are also very, very good. But with the Pixel, just press the shutter button and boom - a very high quality image is in the can. Done. And it also looks great on a large screen on the desktop. Samsung is clearly behind Google with its software. If they haven't caught up with the S23+ or S23U, even the SD8 G2 won't help. As an Ultra user, I can save money and go for the Google, or try something completely different and go for the Vivo X90 Pro+. Oh yes Samsung: I don't want a Note, but an Ultra.
Although I agree that the price is too high for the S+ series, a Pixel can never compare to a galaxy phone, Samsung has a better processor, GPU, 45w charge support, better material quality overall and One UI is the best user experience of any smartphone at the market. The S23 is a better value than the S23+, sure no doubt, but a galaxy phone and a pixel phone cannot be compared because they are in a completely different ball park.
Great video. It's sad to say but last years once vaunted S + line might not be a better buy than the Motorola Edge + 2022, but Samsung like Apple has a cult like following that will sometimes buy inferior phones because of brand loyalty.
I can't decide between the P7P or zFlip 4. I am completely enamored with the design of the Samsung but I'm also a display junky and I don't know if I can handle the crease. I don't get phones often and I'm coming from an s7. I need to be happy with whatever I get.
If your a heavy user, then I would get the P7P. The battery of the pro is better, the camera is better. The only thing I see the Flip has is the form factor, however when I had the Flip4 (I sold it) I got tired of opening it to do most anything other than checking notifications.
soo true Pixel 7 pro and Pixel 7 these are worth money with 3years os update S23u worth money and s23 feels bit highly priced they should reduce it by atleast 5-10k but the s23+ 'recommended not to buy BECAUSE it's not worth that money (priced higher then the value)'

But what you're missing is loyal Samsung people like myself with last year's model will probably get $1,000 trade in credit for the phone so really it's only costing you three or 400 bucks for a brand new phone whereas the pixel you're paying 900 bucks for a new phone that's quite a difference
I think I agree, what they could instead do is, just release s23 ultra and s23, then later down the year release s23 lite/fe with cut down specs
that seems a bit more sensible
I am too committed to samsung now with my S21 ultra, tab s7 plus, watch 5 pro and s pen pro. I just like the connectivity and the s pen.
The ecosphere is nice. Great devices.
What they need to do is bring back expandable memory
Especially on the Ultra
@@mikldude9376 Agreed. They keep removing features, but charge the same (or a higher) price. Stupid!
No, bring the head phone jack back!

I think all manufacturers including Google should give us a top-tier phone in different sizes and call it a day.
iPhone 14 plus is a joke and a massive cash grab
You won't regret it. 🔥
The S23 Ultra will be really nice. If you want to wait two weeks and see what it has to offer, maybe that might be an option too. But the Pixel 7 Pro and the S23 Ultra are both going to be good options.
Do mind the $150 discount that ends on January 22 though. Which does come and go quite often it seems, but who knows when it will come back.

It sucks because s22+ is flat display and perfect size but the trash display and trash camera for $999 is robbery.
Yup
Some don't like the boxy design dont need the pen and want a bigger phone
Yup. Trade in’s are key with Samsung for savings
I’m ok with under the screen as long as it works properly. I’m perfectly happy with the one on the 7 series. It’s much much better than the 6.

Great vid, I just got the 7pro on Spectrum Mobile for 399.00 dollars, can’t believe they dropped the price on this phone for new customers.
Wow. That's crazy cheap
and also lets not mention that pixel phones camera glass is shattering at random and google is blaming it on its customers
Hate curved screens. Went from Note 9 to Pixel 6 Pro. Hate it. I want a premium phone (non Chinese) with a flat screen. S23+ is the closest thing.
Just changed to the Pixel 7 Pro from Oneplus 9 Pro. Absolutely loving this phone. So smooth and the camera is incredible!
Nice. Glad to hear it.
What about battery?
@@ryanhemming9546 I've had no issues with the battery.
Because Google is using out dated hardware and cheaper cameras it's only a software experience making it seem good
Who cares? Software is half the experience. Pretty embarrassing to have your $1200 phone schooled by a $500 phone camera.

I think you have some very valid points. I haven't used a device from Samsung in many years. However, I do miss the way you were able to purchase fonts and change the font as you wish. I wish Google would build into Android the ability to change fonts to different styles. That would be a game changer in my book.

I do think the lineup should be:
S23 - $699/$749
S23 Plus - $799/$849
S23 Ultra - $999/$1099/$1199

be upset If u truly pay full retail$$, then yes. Galaxy’s especially in the u.s. carriers store go a sale or have deals with 90 days of launch. Trade in deals help bring that price down as well.
Only problem with Pixel Pro is that curved screen that will likely break, no thanks no more curved screens for me, as much as I like the looks of it, they are not practical.
then get the pixel 7, it's still better than the s23+ at half the price
But I want more screen estate, 6.3 not good for me, only thing I hope samsung will improve shutter lag and battery life
Love your vids but I disagree.

I HATE that pixel doesnt have a theme store...its making my decision difficult... ive had a samsung for years and years. I just cant decide...

PIXEL IS A GOOD PHONE BUT ITS NOT THAT. GREAT STOP LYING TO PEOPLE

good points keep the plus but change the price bring back fe
Nice review keep up the good work TechOdyssey
I looked around, can't seem to find where you see it for $749. Can you share the link please?
I've been having the longest debate about downgrading from my s22 Ultra to an s23 plus mainly for the size and flat display. However, your video makes a lot of good points. What are your thoughts on the s23 Ulta dumors that it may have a flatter/less curved display?
That's not the point. Samsung has no flagship besides s stylus dependent ultra/note. The Galaxy S series flagship doesn't exist anymore. The plus has so many compromises amd terrible value.
If you like a Note like phone, you're good. I'm sure the s23 ultra will be a fantastic phone.
@@jakublizon6375 what if I don't like the note? What other option do I have if I want to stay within the Samsung realm
@@ryannguyen4813 the flip and the fold are your only other choices haha
Right now Mint mobile is offering the 7 pro at $500.
The only thing that im tired of is all the base storage of 128 gig now days in all these premium phones that is just subpar storage amount !!
the tensor chip is awful. pixel doesn't feel like a flagship in any regard beyond the camera.
Dear Samsung,
Stop trying to be Apple.
I agree with you 100 percent but just one question the 23 ultra or the 7 pro?
If you didn't preorder the 23+ wait until the price drops. I got the 23+ on preorder with the free storage upgrade, $150 off and cash back from CC and rakuten. Otherwise $999 too much for this phone. Should be $850
Depends on country, in Romania s22 was sold at 600€, s22 plus 650€, s22 ultra 850€, Pixel 7 pro 850€.
I often play games on my phone with my friends and that’s the only reason I’m still on the fence leaning towards S23+
The tensor g2 is weak compared to Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
So if you want a phone with long term software support, impressive camera and an emphasis on gaming/performance then the S23+ is arguably a better option than Pixel.
Still haven’t ruled out the Pixel though, I’m looking into how it performs in games,
If it can turn prove to be a reasonable upgrade over my current setup then I’ll probably buy it over the S23 for the aesthetic appeal alone
Pixel easily gets hot even when watching RUclips, and taking video cam for a few minutes and it's not comfortable...
@@maximino3812 video chat on my pixel and the shit feels like it's gonna blow up lol
@@vivianharuna9977 The Pixel is outclassed in almost every single way, including the camera. I don't know what you're on about.
What case is that for your pixel 7 pro?
I really enjoy your thoughts on Samsung and Google ❤
Do you think the s23 ultra will finally have better or similar battery to the pixel 7 pro? I’m having a hard time debating what to get.
I'm getting the OnePlus 11 because it's an upgrade from a S21+ without being bigger and bulkier. I don't want a brick with a pen in my pocket.
Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro problems since release. I wish Sony would allow Tmobile or ATT to sell them through carrier
The last good S variant was the S10 Plus, certainly gone down hill since.
My s10 5g is an underrated legend of a phone.
I'm a Samsung to Google convert and I love my Pixel
You're right!!! 100%!!!
There's an app for that!
5G network on pixel is not supported in our country and it's not sold in physical stores unlike Samsung...
I agree, that's horrible u can't change it but I use Nova Launcher so it shouldn't be an issue I hope.
Updates for how long from pixels? Thanks
Google promises 3 years of major os updates and 5 years of security updates
Great video. It's sad to say but last years once vaunted S + line might not be a better buy than the Motorola Edge + 2022, but Samsung like Apple has a cult like following that will sometimes buy inferior phones because of brand loyalty.
Spot on!
The only thing I see the Flip has is the form factor, however when I had the Flip4 (I sold it) I got tired of opening it to do most anything other than checking notifications.
soo true
Pixel 7 pro and Pixel 7 these are worth money with 3years os update
S23u worth money and s23 feels bit highly priced they should reduce it by atleast 5-10k
but the s23+ 'recommended not to buy BECAUSE it's not worth that money (priced higher then the value)'
What case is he using?
