We have a mounting machine at my shop that is called the Cheetah. It's a lot safer because it clamps the wheel preventing it from moving while releasing 200psi (sometimes) to seat the bead quickly. Always wear eye protection kids.
Way too much fluid, and they could be inflating from the valve stem rather than shooting air from the outside. Their very first attempt would have worked if they were inflating from the stem when they applied the flame.
We used brake cleaner or other cleaning sprays... starter spray should work, too. WD40 is flammable, but it's not that explosive. ...and you need something that can get really explosive. We also made the failure to add way too much spray, less, more well placed spray and more air works way better as it builds a way more explosive gas!
Not only more prone to wear, it would invalidate highway insurance as the tyre is not fitted to a matched size wheel as recommended by the tyre manufacturer.
To be fair, I like a small amount of stretch but people just take it too far. If you have to get the tyre on using brake cleaner and a blowtorch, it doesn't fit.
To help clear up some of these people wondering. No stretching tires does not do anything for performance, it actually takes away from performance. Yes, this is extremely dangerous and can lead to unbalanced tires and tires blowing off the bead of the rim under hard cornering. Very silly.
Another way to make this work, put an inner tube inside the tire before u put it on the wheel, blow it WAY up and let it sit overnite. Next day it will be stretched enuff to take air when u put it on the wheel. But it's not as much fun. Enjoyed ur vid, thanks for posting.
Stretched tires... would never have em, but they can look nice on some rigs. Only show rigs though. You get in an accident with stretched tires, and you're to blame, no matter what. In the USA according to DOT regulation your sidewall must be at least flush with your wheel lip to be street legal.
R.L. Natschke lol really? Cuz americans are so great for stealing land and enslaving TWO different nationalities. We all have skeletons in our closets, but the past is the past. Leave it there.
Is it still ok for my case ill be using 215/70r16 tires on an 16" 8j et9? I still want handling though not for fast cornering since i will put it on an suv. Also stock rims weight limit i guess is 690kg but the one i wanted to install is rated 620kg. Is it ok to do the swap?
15x8.25 or 16x8.5 with a 175/50/15 works well on a civic if you are going for looks. 195 50 15 on an 8.25 or higher tends to rub against the fender if the car is lowered especially on bumps or if there are more than two people in the car. This is specifically on a civic EG or EK
In 31 years, I've never seen anyone use that much whatever fluid that was. I know guys who do truck tires, can make a can of ether last months. Only need a 1 or 2 second squirt. Have air chuck on valve, light, whoomp, there it is. Spraying that much crap inside then lighting it, it's a wonder you don't have a fire burning inside the tire, but whatever works for you.
Yeh... I have rebeaded a large tire and it doesn't take much. So I thought the same thing but then I wondered about the flexibility and how much more oxygen is in a bigger tire and I wonder. Maybe it takes more because of how much stiffer the tire is per scale. Then again maybe not. Maybe these guys are just wasting a ton of fluid.
Bushido Cobra No one here is being hostile. We think that putting a tire too narrow for the wheel is really stupid and unsafe. We don't care how good people think it looks.
For those wondering, I take my MX5 sliding and through hard driving even with a stretch. Not as much as that, same tire size with Achilles ATRs on a 15x8. No problem so far with a over 10K miles of that kind of driving.
I personally think tires that only have a slight stretch look okay. I don't care much for an extreme look. I understand the purpose of stretching a tire so that it fits underneath a stanced car but it seems a little silly because I could imagine you must go through tires very fast, correct? To each his own I guess.

Exact thing I too am wondering. Like for super low autos, this would seem perfectly ideal but I can't imagine it would do too well on the track (or even be allowed on the track)
***** streching dosent wear them out any faster its the camber issues from trying to tuck them or not having the suspension properly aligned that wears them out faster then normal. I had wheels and tires with a slight strech on my old 240 and ran it that way for years with no odd wear issues.
there is no inherent proof that stretching tires decreases tire life, BUT you do face the possibility of tread separation/tire error if you drive on them under the correct air pressure. thats also to be said for unstretched tires too though. main +1 to stretching tires is fender clearance. the wear is going to be nominally faster from the decrease in tire circumference, meaning slightly greater RPM than accurate

why would you want to do this? i know it looks cool and everything, but you have less tire on the road than what you could have. ive got 6 inch rims on my car, but i chose to put 7 inch wide tires on it. more rubber on the road, more traction. im more of a function over form kinda guy though
The Japanese used to do this when they didn't have the right sized tires anymore for drifting so they would just get some cheap ones from the junkyard or something then stretch them, then Americans thought it looked good so they started using it for this "stance" sort of thing but whatever.
+dragonslayer1483 yea well a lot of people by cars based on appearance .... like lowriders for example.... what possible advantages do you from having a lowrider? this is a style thing. i can see why some people may do this because the point is to have the rim flush with the car body while the wheels tuck in....
milldabeast519 im just a function over form type of guy... but whatever, i can go around a corner faster with the same width rims. i run tires wider than my rim giving me more grip. if i were to lower my car enough to need skinny tires i would just roll the fenders a bit. ive only done a modest amount of lowering on my car so its not a problem

So i have never seen this before... could someone explain to me why you would stretch a tire onto a larger rim? Not trolling just have no clue... Is this purely for looks? Or does it actually improve some aspect of handling?
Supposedly this was started with drifting. They would use cheap skinny tires just because they were cheap but they noticed that with the tire stretched the sidewall has less flex so it gives a bit better response and control in a drift. Other then that it's looks. A smaller contact patch is almost always bad unless you're going for gas mileage.

Stefan Shepherd Ah-ha! so there is a real reason for this! What are the handling characteristics like? Advantages/disadvantages? Would it be ok for a GT auto or is this something strictly for the track?
***** you get a way more direct steering as the tire doesn't bend anymore, though it can give you less grip in corners. 215/35s on 9J for example still corner very well, while 195/40s on 9J already handle pretty bad. That's on the track though. I just daily the 195s and it just rides the same as 215s. If I would be all about handling, I would rather run 225s on 9J wide rims. or for my Golf probably 215/35s on 8J.
No I think you have the concept a bit misunderstood. The rim and tire have to be the same diameter. The tyre circumference and sidewall profile in contrast to the inner to outer width of the rim is where you play around to get the desired stretch by offsetting the two. No ways will a 22 inch tire fit on a 23 inch rim and be safe to operate.
Why didn't you have the air hose attached and ready to start filling once the tire pops so that it doesn't get a vacuum and come off the rim? Sounds like the tire isn't the only thing that had a little too much drink.
sorry but last time i saw someone mount a stretch tire the person used a proper tiremountingmachine not flameable gases and airmixtures...... youre all wrong...
i always wanted to know this but why stretch them seriously why it just looks like you want to destroy your tire. although it looks like it gets better traction with its contact patch but then there are those who stance their crap and whats up with that too?
why do they laugh in english

215/35s on 9J for example still corner very well, while 195/40s on 9J already handle pretty bad.
That's on the track though. I just daily the 195s and it just rides the same as 215s.
If I would be all about handling, I would rather run 225s on 9J wide rims. or for my Golf probably 215/35s on 8J.
Anyone know if tires will stretch onto a higher diameter rim for the tire ? I have a 23 inch rim would a 22 inch tire stretch to fit that rim ?
No I think you have the concept a bit misunderstood. The rim and tire have to be the same diameter. The tyre circumference and sidewall profile in contrast to the inner to outer width of the rim is where you play around to get the desired stretch by offsetting the two. No ways will a 22 inch tire fit on a 23 inch rim and be safe to operate.
0:19 yea X'D
What’s the point if stretching tires? Because they’re too short?
Too much lighter/brake/whatever fluid. Clip air chuck on before lighting it, will be easier as well.
Amazing.
Are those going on the Jetta in the back
I generally just use the jets on my tire machine
What i learn? : nothing
Why didn't you have the air hose attached and ready to start filling once the tire pops so that it doesn't get a vacuum and come off the rim? Sounds like the tire isn't the only thing that had a little too much drink.
why don't they buy tires that fit? this seems to be really stupid and unsafe
its safe bro lol
Flyin Sushi lmao the next technique that will be used in Le Mans, F1 and NASCAR
***** to set tires? They have machines yk. But this is a gud way 2 do it @ home
Flyin Sushi lol no talking about putting the wrong size tires on the wheels.
***** oh lol
Is that a mk2 golf in the back
ADAMOU Shopping
weird how people can afford those rims. But can't afford the proper tires!
You're cute.
Stefan Shepherd i'm an mx-5. am i cute? ^_^
Sometimes depending on their setup they need to stretch the tires to make it fit without it rubbing on the fender
What kimd of rims are those i knowvthere bbs but what is the name
BBS RM...says in the description
to much spray less spray guys,
Kann der reifen wärend der fahrt nicht runter reißen oder so ?
sorry but last time i saw someone mount a stretch tire the person used a proper tiremountingmachine not flameable gases and airmixtures...... youre all wrong...
simcaP60fan its way easier the way they did it
i always wanted to know this but why stretch them seriously why it just looks like you want to destroy your tire. although it looks like it gets better traction with its contact patch but then there are those who stance their crap and whats up with that too?
