Very fond memories of this area and this hike. In Feb, 1996 I think. With very pregnant friend and the rain and sleet. Tony was on maps, and this hike still a legend for his use of the word "contouring" to navigate a 'short cut' across muddly, windswept lakeshore, Rydal Water. Had to rescue said pregnant friend, leaving a few in that pub Abbie goes by, while two of us ran the 2 miles back to bring the cars. When Abbie said "contouring" I lost it LOL! Wished we'd been there for the flowers, ah well.

I really love your channel Abbie. You need to be at 100,000 subscribers. You take us on incredible hikes and your personality and humour and amazing. Enjoy hearing the history, viewing different landscapes and xountryside that are exquisite. As an expat I love this. I am unable to hike currently due to chronic severe pain including all over stiffness and arthritis. I loved hiking so hope go get back to that some day. Thanks for taking us along 🇬🇧🇨🇦❤

I usually set out from Ambleside over Loughrigg then around Grasmere and head up to Rydal Mount for a nice cup of tea in the tea room behind the hotel. Nice walk in all weathers.

Any day in the Lake District is a good day. Best place on Earth. Many of us head up the hills and miss out on the low level walks. Hope you're ok

Just got home after my 8th year in row Lakes holiday. Even though there are so many great routes I always do the Grasmere and Rydal walk. This year I did at 6pm it was so peaceful.

One of the best walks in the Lake District that can have lots of variations, especially if it is extended out to Ambleside

I totally agree and great video as usual. Another low level walk is from Glenridding to pooley bridge. Have you done a video on that one? Most people do the walk then get the steamer back.

What a treat! Just got home for a late dinner from a sunny evening hike to Ashness Bridge then back to Keswick over Walla Crag with a beautiful sunset and here's an Abbie video to enjoy and take me right back to the Lakes again.
Nice walk, I've done bits of it on other walks. Been meaning to do that path to Chapel Stile for the Langdale pubs, oh and for the views too of course!

Herdwick sheep are lovely - very distinctive.
I do enjoy these low level walks.
Wondering if daffodils are natural to Britain 🤔
Yeah dilemma about the sheep managed landscape - I love it as I love downsland - but would like to see the majority of it back to trees with lots of managed cleared viewpoints.

Hello Abbie,,,,, I am still here alive and getting better. Plans still on hold until next year now. All wild-camping gear is clean and in storage for now. Will you be doing Autumn/Winter camping?. This is my time to go foraging as it makes me think about what is out there at that time of year. Struggling at the moment but inspired by what your doing,,,, Regards Mick,,,,,, Chef-on-the-wild-side,,,,,,, Forager,,,,,,,,, X

Those big old trees don't seem quite real, or at least not like trees, more like a sentient being of some kind in a fantasy story. Like they're going to speak and say something deep and wise.
