    i have camped there a couple of times and several times right at the pool, where it used to be a big meadow before the forest began it reclamation effort. i've caught natives out of the stream and enjoyed the battle they presented me. one of my favorite experiences while hunting across the creek up on the side was when a flock of turkeys surrounded me as they were on their evening feeding frenzy. i was on the ground in my camo, as I was whitetail hunting, and I had a gobbler step over my extended legs. what a great experience. thanks for the video.

      Wow that is incredible!! Thank you for sharing that story.. I could tell the area was recovering. As a hunter myself, that would be some great terrain to hunt! I’m sure there are some brutes back there

    I would deer hunt in this area, so in the winter months. So cool to see the area in the summer and people enjoying hiking and camping there. It is huge and you need to be careful not to get turned around and lost. It goes on for miles.

    I did segments of the STS last summer and the summer before with a buddy of mine. Both times, I damn near stepped on a rattler right on the trail. I also camp in that area every summer. Next time it's long pants for me though. I'm just finally recovering from two solid months of inflammation in one knee and both ankles -- tested positive for lyme disease. Those damn ticks are everywhere down there.
    Great video.

    Best backpacking in PA for sure! It’s probably a typo, but there’s not an “n” in Hammersley. 😮

    Beautiful video, very well done. Thanks for coming to PA and showing a beautiful section of the PA Wilds. I have been looking at doing this loop for awhile myself. Did you go clockwise or counter clockwise? I see you came upon a few PA rattlers, how about ticks or bugs in general was that an issue? And im curious as to what your overall impression of hiking in Pennsylvania compared to upstate New York?

    • @adkandbeyond
      @adkandbeyond  6 месяцев назад

      Thank you very much for the kind words! We did this counter clockwise. The bushwhack was a little intense and hard to follow. Ticks were bad and the bugs were not too bad, but it was manageable! New York has many more rocks and rough terrain!

      This was called the twin sisters lake loop, however part of it we cut, and did a bushwhack down a steep hillside where we encountered the first rattlesnake!

    Doing that kind of hiking in shorts is ridiculous. just sayin'. It's the opposite of being prepared.

    • @adkandbeyond
      @adkandbeyond  6 дней назад +2

      I’m sorry you think that.. However I was totally prepared. I had pants, and other layers in my pack just incase. It was 75 degrees and humid hiking. Wearing pants wouldn’t have done anything to improve conditions.
