watching your journey as not only a creator in blender but also a content creator has been amazing. have watched all of these videos and it is so amazing to see your growth in both aspects. i really hope you continue to be able to find a way to support taking the time out of your daily life to make these, they are so special!
Not to sure the thinking making the mini map angled to make it look squished in game. Other than that, really can’t complain about the effort for this entire project. I’ve thought so many times “I would quit if I had this problem”
@@CafeCharlie i think you shouldn't bother showing the elevation changes. it's prettier in top view and you'll know about the track just by driving one lap (if you didn't know delfino square already)
@@CafeCharliei think the elevation changes shouldn't really matter much for this track though... but it being angled looks kinda cool, just that this is too much lol
Watching and participating in this series has been an absolute delight. I dunno anything about blender, but its all super interesting despite that. I cant wait to see what you work on next :]
Great map :DDD the forest area is definitely my favourite! i was just curious if this was going to be available for the wii u? I want to mod my wii u for all the great remakes i'm seeing on this channel but i'm not sure if they're available to the public; nor where to download them from xd
Congratulations, dude, you made it!!! So far it looks amazing. I really enjoy seeing all the thoughts through these processes✨️ Can't wait to see what's next!
i’m so glad i found this channel :> i’ve always wondered how mk mods work, and it feels like im learning with you! excited to see what’s coming for december :)
Next week's video should be the start of a (sort of) from scratch track. I'll be working with a model, but not a race track. It should be really interesting!
After adding the shadow map this is looking SO GOOD! I honestly expected you to go into how you had to retry the bake a million times because it wasn't working but I was mistaken I guess. Also this isn't nessasarily a better way than what you did but if you are going to add shadow maps to more tracks then instead of manually combining the multiple textures, id suggest making an automatic way to do that. For example, because I think it would be fun/fast (maybe idk probably) I would have made a blender shader group that takes in the light, shadow and AO maps and outputs the final environment map (you never said what it was called) and then baked that. This series has made me want to make my own Mario Kart Tracks but since I am at the end of my first year at uni doing 3D art and animation already, imma hold off of doing anything like that. Can't wait for whatever you have planned for christmas.
Big fan of your channel and very impressed with your work. I know this suggestion might be a long shot, but I really admire the way you often recreate textures by hand and how well it usually turns out, but it also seems like whenever it isn't feasible it seems like you don't have much choice but to hope that photoshop's AI upscaler doesn't fuck up enough that you can't fix it. I was personally quite involved in the early days of the SM64 PC port and did a fair bit of work with texture upscaling. I feel like those days are also quite linked with sloppy upscales even worse than what you can just get out of photoshop's solution. But at the time, a lot of different people made upscaling models on vastly different sets of textures. Therefore output quality very much relied on being able to know which models to use together for specific textures. While my own work never became super big, it did give me connections to Render96 people which helped expand my knowledge about the subject. I think it's very easy to become too reliant on AI for stuff you can do better yourself if you end up being too involved with it, but I also think that if you cannot solve an issue without relying on a less involved tool, it would help to have experience in using the more involved of the less involved tools. This might not be super important as is, but I'm often quite busy and don't have the other technical skills to use what knowledge I do have in any projects, so if you ever want to improve in this specific field, I'd be more than willing to help as I love your content.
Given the extensive nature of this rebuild, probably best to just go ahead and start that Halloween revamp now and it will hopefully be done by October 2025 lol love the attention to detail and energy as always.
As a succession of the different styles in Delfino Square (Winter, Night theme and so) you could replace the animal crossing map with those themes to download them later all at once.
This is so friggin' cool!! I am jealous of your abilities here! I really wanna learn to mod Super Mario Odyssey and make custom levels, or levels based on other properties (like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe)
I love this track port! It stays very faithful to the DS original while also adding extra polish for the MK8 visual style. I also appreciate that you didn’t ruin the track with a Tour Peach Gardens third “lap” mechanic like the other port.
what about indirect lighting? did you bake the global illumination? that helps make the lighting look way better! and no just because the map doesnt have emission, you really should bake it anyway! because light bounces off everything, making it feel more life-like!
If I have to say something, is that the buildings look way too big in comparison to the player. It’s like you could fit the player and the kart inside the door alone, when it doesn’t look natural. It’s a problem seen in the Tour cities as well.
You can mod these tracks into The Karters 2: Turbo Charged. its what I did when I modded Halloween Android alley :D Amazing work on the track. I love it ❤
Hum, just realised something tho: You placed trees on concrete The track looks really good, don't get me wrong, but now that I noticed that, I can't get it out of my head ^^"
Tal vez piensas que no está completamente finalizado (y tienes razón, aún se puede mejorar) pero esto ya le hace competencia directa a la versión de Croco64
In the next video you will perform in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Combination like: Airship Fortress DS from Mario Kart DS and Industrial Park DS from SpongeBob Squarepants The Yellow Avenger DS? Well, or maybe Airship Fortress DS and Exoplanet, Copper 9 from Murder Drones with the Blizzard and the characters from Murder Drones and Worker Drones. I think they are Combination Possibilities.
I tried putting some down but they didn't want to show up and I sorta ran out of time. Hopefully I can add those at some point in the future. Thanks for watching!
Your cat screaming into the mic brought me so much joy
Right!? I don't care about Delfino Square anymore! Bring back Charlie's cat!
3:38 of course the car was giving you intel on modding the racing game, thats his speciality.

When you added that shadow map it looked so, SO much nicer. Glad to see it (nearly) fully realized!
Yes, more Delfino content!! I’m absolutely loving these track building videos!
This is the ASMR for us... Fat gamers
Not to sure the thinking making the mini map angled to make it look squished in game. Other than that, really can’t complain about the effort for this entire project. I’ve thought so many times “I would quit if I had this problem”
Having it angled makes the elevation changes clear, but I definitely went too far lol. Thanks for watching!

Good to see that you also take the council from your interrupting feline overlord.
The end of an era
Wow, that shadow map really brings the whole thing together! I could easily mistake this as a base game track at first glance.
Thanks!
The rescaling might have made the trees a little too big but this looks so great overall, can't wait to see more!
I just keep on coming back to these videos, truly addicting.
Wow the shadow and ambient maps really made a huge difference! Looks really good now!
If you revisit this track, please add the booster pads to the drawbridge.
That shadow map made it look wayyy better
Aww kitty's meows were so cute and glad you left it in the video
A night time Christmas version of this track would be pretty cool
Squadaloo's lighting tutorial is severely outdated. You should've used the new lighting guide which makes your bakes look much better.
Watching and participating in this series has been an absolute delight. I dunno anything about blender, but its all super interesting despite that. I cant wait to see what you work on next :]
congratulations!! loved this
Just writing to say, i've been following since week one and this was so much fun to follow throughout! Thank you sm for this series of videos!
It was an amazing journey, and OMG the shadow map does WONDERS IT LOOKS SO GOOD AAAAAAA
The amount of effort and change is respectable. Keep. It. Up
Great map :DDD the forest area is definitely my favourite!

You’ve made amazing progress!! Great job!
Congratulations, dude, you made it!!!
So far it looks amazing. I really enjoy seeing all the thoughts through these processes✨️
Can't wait to see what's next!
Omg an update right when I finished watching the rest of the delfino videos!!!
"I'll keep this airstrike menu in mind in case I have any issues working on this model"
LMAO
genuinely inspiring video. really cool to see a modding project like this come to fruition :)
I loved watching thease videos a day after they came out. This is the first time I was able to time it to where I saw one just after It came out!!
It's only been an hour but I am already excited for this series to continue
I absolutely loved getting to watch the process it was so cool, I’d love to see even more course updates!
your cat has the knowledge of mario kart modding, it has infinite wisdom but cannot share it
i’m so glad i found this channel :> i’ve always wondered how mk mods work, and it feels like im learning with you! excited to see what’s coming for december :)
This series was awesome! 😎 😮
I love that the trees being changed is still happening
Also have you ever thought about making your own track from scratch?
Next week's video should be the start of a (sort of) from scratch track. I'll be working with a model, but not a race track. It should be really interesting!
My favorite series on yt 😍
this turned out so good so impressive!! it’s honestly looker closer to mk8 course than a booster pass course!
After adding the shadow map this is looking SO GOOD! I honestly expected you to go into how you had to retry the bake a million times because it wasn't working but I was mistaken I guess.

Now it looks proper! Great work!
I got so invested into this series, the other day I binged the entire marathon and the Coconut Mall ones 😎 you're pretty cool

AHHH YES I KNEW IT WAS A GOOD IDEA TO STAY UP TILL MIDNIGHT!
The combined shadow and AO map is called a Packed map. This is because you’re packing multiple types of texture maps into one
Given the extensive nature of this rebuild, probably best to just go ahead and start that Halloween revamp now and it will hopefully be done by October 2025 lol love the attention to detail and energy as always.
Amazing work on the shadow maps and Ambient Occlussion! The track looks fantastic with it
I understood nothing from the video but I liked it 😊
i cant wait until i can play this AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I thought your cat was my fire alarm for a second and it gave me a small heart attack lol
here. have some community interaction
As a succession of the different styles in Delfino Square (Winter, Night theme and so) you could replace the animal crossing map with those themes to download them later all at once.
Loving these videos!!
3:39 your cat was telling your audience to subscribe
You should keep the map for now and release a mod with all the maps you'll have made in the future! That could be cool
I'm watching this with my gf right now and she is feeling your pain on a spiritual level for all this lol
This is so friggin' cool!! I am jealous of your abilities here! I really wanna learn to mod Super Mario Odyssey and make custom levels, or levels based on other properties (like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe)
i love this series
Now I can listen to the whole series at night 😂 Anyways I love this series. It actually taught me some stuff ❤
I swear I blinked and you've gone from 2k subscribers to 23k
Either way congrats! This series has been really entertaining
Nintendo should hire you tbh, this looks better than a lot of bcp tracks and its not even done yet
I love this track port! It stays very faithful to the DS original while also adding extra polish for the MK8 visual style. I also appreciate that you didn’t ruin the track with a Tour Peach Gardens third “lap” mechanic like the other port.
I love Delfino square!!!

The end.
For Now.

I love your cat
You can mod these tracks into The Karters 2: Turbo Charged. its what I did when I modded Halloween Android alley :D
Amazing work on the track. I love it ❤
Do you plan on 'improving' the city tracks from the DLCs of MK8D?
I think it would be best to put a sunset for this
0:18 yay
I've been watching this series for 3 weeks now and I just noticed I'm not subscribed 😱
this looks like an official mario kart 8 deluxe track lol
It looks great so far. By the way, do you think you could put speed boosts on the bridge like in the OG?
Hum, just realised something tho:
You placed trees on concrete
The track looks really good, don't get me wrong, but now that I noticed that, I can't get it out of my head ^^"
9:26 You could hide a message in this and nobody would notice.
You can view 3D models in Switch Toolbox?! I mainly use it to replace textures.
I have terrible paitence, so doing this would be torture for me.
You have to animate the bridge and add boost panels to it
why is the lighting so weird
6:57 OH BOY ITS TIME TO BAKE SOME LIGHTS!
Anyone get that reference?
Tal vez piensas que no está completamente finalizado (y tienes razón, aún se puede mejorar) pero esto ya le hace competencia directa a la versión de Croco64
You should take a Realistic Mario kart 8 track and make it in the dumped down Tour style
nice
i feel like the track is sliiiightly too big, but its probably fine in actual gameplay...
I think they are Combination Possibilities.
epic
Please try making tracks for a CTR game based on Crash 4 (I'd call it Crash Quantum Grand Tour)
download and ctgpdx submission when?
omg charlie ily
Maybe you've touched on this and I missed it, bit... where are the item boxes?
I tried putting some down but they didn't want to show up and I sorta ran out of time. Hopefully I can add those at some point in the future. Thanks for watching!
