You are spot on dude ! That ‘unorthodox’ sound you’ve picked up on is very much SM’s signature with all of their groups. If you want to learn more, listening to more SM artists will help you understand what I’m talking about. Girls Generation, Red Velvet, and F(x) are the groups that came before aespa and I’m sure they would garner views, especially Girls Generation and Red Velvet.
Tbh, youre ability to perfectly articulate what makes this song special is why I keep coming back. Would love to see your reaction to The Boys by Girls Generation (GG) as the start to GG journey. 🙏 They are unanimously the door openers for where kpop is today.

One of the track's producers - Dem Jointz (worked with Rihanna, Anderson .Paak, Janet Jackson, Kanye West, Brandy, Christina Aguilera and many others). The album and title track «Armageddon» will be released on May 27, 2024.
The part "Ah Oh Ay" uses a sample from the hip-hop track "Planet Rock" (single "Afrika Bambaataa & Soulsonic Force") (1982).
The symbols on the floor are graphically stylized symbols of the members of aespa, which they have had since their debut and are found in many of their videos:
