I think you are also pretty close to the site of the proposed new section of canal to run parallel to the Northampton arm and allow a loop cruise of east anglia.
What date did they start to use metal lock gates . I saw lots in the 1980s on the popular rings , I see that the canal between bridge 2 & 3 is ready to go ,I bet you could get canal bridges from Amazon now. It is quite interesting if you look on Google earth on the other side of the new A5 bypass where you finished , it looks like there was a canal basin on the other side. And they have built houses around it. But between the new houses there is a wharf lane. This is typical of local authorities when a town was bypassed ,they generally allow new development up to the new road .
No, afraid not. We are heading to Alvecote for the Bank Holiday weekend but we will be at the Black Country Boating Festival in Netherton in mid September.
Thanks for sharing, this is a fascinating insight to lost and now some restoration of older canals and links
Hi Andy,
On this cold, overcast and (almost) wintry morning, what a delight to see another of your wonderful videos.
Thank you so much.
Nice.... I enjoy seeing canals being restored..
I will do an update when we are finally able to attend festivals again - probably next summer.
Fascinating as always Andy.
It looks like an interesting project, but there's a lot of work to do. Thanks for sharing . 👍
Interesting video thanks for sharing 👍🏻
That really does look promising!
Go and look at the Hyde lane lock site under restoration bourton meadow and Thornton bridge

Martin - they used lots of steel gates in the 1970's when BW and British Steel were both state owned.
Hi Andy,
Where abouts is that 'lock' you showed in the video? Great video as always.
Mike - Its on the Milton Keynes side of the Ouse, very close to the Iron Trunk aqueduct.
Thanks!
Are you and the Jam Butty at the show on the Waterfront Merry Hill this weekend?
