I thought of something. The reason why the 5550 is the Mallard’s speed record is because it’s going to pull excursions around the Northeast Corridor line and through the entire Pennsylvania Railroad mainline from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh. But don’t worry about that guys and galls, it will be alright.
Why bother braking Mallard record it went prr speed limits on mountain lines where horse shoe curve is also a T1 probably already unofficially broke Mallards record decades ago
11:14 So? The Pennsylvania Railroad attempted that with it's S1 with 156mph, but that never worked because of wheelslip, the N&W also attempted to do that too with their J Class with 150mph, but failed too.
They probably did that during the age of steam. When steam locomotives were everywhere, and were our only transportation, so they could use a fast one. Today steam engines are rare and you should take good care of them.
4:59 what the heck there was an engine bigger than the UP big boy and I've also seen steam locomotives that look bigger than the big boy that are preserved today are they ?
Whoever called it the worlds largest steam locomotive is wrong. Its at least the worlds largest steam engine that works properly, the world largest surviving steam, and now the worlds largest operational steam locomotive.
So Big Boy wasnt the world's largest steam engine back then. So Back then it was the PRR S1 then it got scrapped now Big Boy is largest. The C&O Allegheny is two inches longer than the big boy do you have to go by length to say it's the largest or Height? because the C&O Allegheny is one of the tallest steam locomotives ever built and the N&W Y6as and bs were the largest in strength So If the PRR S1 was preserved it would be the largest surviving steam locomotive and Big Boy would be the largest operating steam locomotive.
Yeah I’m excited to see a T1 come back to life, but the T1’s were quite problematic, and unless the trust can find ways to fix the problems it had, it wouldn’t be a great candidate to rebuild and put into excursion service. And there’s no real point in breaking Mallard’s record in the 21st century, especially not with an engine as problematic as the T1. Not only is that the wrong reason to bring a T1 back from the dead, it’s dangerous because of all the problems the PRR’s T1 suffered. I’d rather see a less problematic locomotive be brought back, like Milwaukee’s Hiawatha, B&O’s Cincinnatian, etc.

5:06 Imagine if itself and it's wheels where a little larger, then it wouldn't cause wheelslip problems. And it wouldn't have trouble on curves and it would have run from Chicago to Philadelphia, PA,

But isn't northeast corridor owned by amtrak and electrified
Oh, never mind
1:28 Imagine one Chicago & Northwestern was preserved, then it would have been displayed at the Illinois Railway Museum.
That would be great.
Hold on one minute I can’t believe that a NYC Hudson is pulling a heavy weight train!
Put it on 1.25 speed

What am I saying is that during the age of steam it was okay to break records but today is different.
Well, you have a point.
thanks
the PRR 5550 will be running by 2030
Pennsylvania t1 are fucking sucks
And a lot of people will see take pictures of it when it was completed.
@@princeryanbalang268 PRR t1s are awesome you jerk.
I would honestly like to see PRR T1 #5550 in excursion service on the mainlines, but I do NOT want it to try and break Mallard's record.
Apparently Mallard had his steam speed record broken by another A4 named silver fox in the 1950s but wasn't officially recorded so can't be proven
@@AlexHill1991 she was one of the first a4 number 2512
@@Jaymehkook thank for the number most LNER fans are total snobs and won't tell me shit Soo I only talk to the LMS people
I hate the stupid idea to beat the steam speed record

Actually S1 is 10 feet longer than Big Boy. S1 is not the biggest but the longest
Didn’t any of the PRR steamers ever burn or got converted to oil?
A few, but I can't find any pictures.
Do u remember which ones?

I agree.

On #8 u forgot to mention the engines were later converted to burn Oil in 1946-1947
At 2:13 those are wierd PRR trains idk why there engines are so dum or wierd
ummmm i kinda support the breaking mallards record cause i kinda want US locomotives to be more famous.....
They are famous enough. That's not what steam excursions are for. They should take better care of it than that.
@@rail-ryder7135 yeah but it would have kinda.bit nice...............i would also been nice if they had atleast 6200 around and the Q2
The t1 looks better than mallard. But how is it going to break the mallards record
It’s was a mistake
Its a joke, it wont brake mallards record
