No problem. It's really neat and will be used by me and hopefully others. Hope you get a few interested people from the video. Thanks for letting me try it.
These programs are great. However (comma) you all make the water animated while we are working on the map; but give us no way to save the map as an animated map so when we go to port it into a VTT environment it is still animated for our players. That is sort of aggravating. Why take up a graphic resource from our pc if we arent even allowed to save it as a video file. Just a suggestion. Ur not the only one. Dungeondraft does this too. And there are plenty of other programs that also do it.
Bought this a week ago and I seriously love it. It is a stable in all my worldbuilding and TTRPG Game Mastering. I even bought old paper from Amazon so that I can print it out in style on paper. So if you wanna play OSR types of games, you can really keep it in style with this as well. Even when playing on online platforms.
Got to say, some of the maps on the steam page are epic. I haven't seen other tools that let you make maps nearly so big. Having tools for making dungeons built in would be great, but this alone will find use.
Looks interesting, I hand drew all my maps, wilderness, city and dungeon for my " The Beacon of Illumvale" module and it took a long time. This may work for me.
Products like these definitely take time, it's a one man team so the only way to make it better is to put down the money and pray it becomes better every year!
It looks like a good tool. Im not sure the id need the weather effects and such. I do like the look of it but I would also need dungeon mapping tools. I put it on my wishlist to check in on it
Thanks for the introduction to this software. Ill be checking it out on Steam. Any suggestions for a similliar product that focuses on dungeons and other interiors map making.
Man, am I glad you showcased this program. I have so many questions, like: Can you create elevation lines? Is there an option for a hex grid (for say, over-world hex crawls) overlay? How big can the maps scale up, like can it do islands or continents? Are there options for a community market for new assets? Clearly I'm going to have to give this program a look.
@samdoorley6101 Hi! Thanks a lot for your feedback. You can raise land plots to create hills and cliffs or lower those for under water reefs. It's possible to add also a hex grid. Large regions and cities are possible. In the Steam Workshop of Canvas of Kings you can find very good examples. I already add the Steam Workshop for maps. It's definitely planned to add custom assets also to the Steam Workshop. At the moment people import custom images. Some assets are shared on my discord. :)
I'm not sure if this is the right term but I really like this type of vector art and the style the art has. If possible I think it would be awesome if there was a way to click on buildings and it reveal the interior and be able to customize the interior. Then be able to separately make interiors and dungeons like you said. This reminds me a lot of dungeon scrawl but honestly some of the features of dungeon scrawl I find hard to work with and this looks much easier. If this designer made a way to do that but easier and looks better I think that would be worth the money.
@NegatveSpace Thank you very much for your feedback! At the moment I am working on a layer system for the next update. This allows you to assign roofs and rooms to a layer and stack them on top of each other. And show or hide the layers independently of each other, so you can open and close the building. :)
I have a weird question that maybe you could answer in a video. I'm aware you do very little prep in your game and rely on your understanding of myth and pulp fantasy to flavor any improvisation you do in play. So with that in mind my question is, how important is understanding traditional story structure, pacing, and character immersion for your high improvisation style?
Assuming I ever get around to restarting my campaign, it's set in a fantasy medieval version of Egypt. How hard would it be to do a dense arabian city, with tall buildings causing narrow labyrinthine streets and alleyways; or chaotic marketplaces? Similar in feel to the beginning of Aladdin when he's avoiding the guards.
@MasterTMO Hi At the moment my tool has only this medieval/fantasy style. I already implemented the Steam Workshop for maps. It's planned to add custom assets made by the community also to the Steam Workshop. I hope there will be more assets from the community. :)
@@mightofmerchants it wasn't what the buildings looked like so much as how easy or hard it would be to make a closely packed city with small labyrinthine streets and alleys
How does this handle hex-maps? IE how easily could I put layer multiple grid layers to create Atlas - Kingdom - Providence hexes and have those layers be locked?
That I can't say as I'm honestly not very familiar with Inkarnate. I think I used it once. There is a demo for this editor on steam though if you want to try it.
I see three platforms when I look at the Steam. page. The minimum requirements for Mac are M1, so it's not a lazy port either. Minimum requirements on all platforms are above the potato level though.
Thank you very much for sharing my work! ❤

Thansk for the comment. This is a pretty good question and certainly something worth a video on.
Great question.
How can I get this without going through the Steam hoops? I want to use it for story telling.

As one who has never used this type of software what is the learning curve like for a first timer?
I didn't find it too difficult. Lots of point and click essentially.
