I just finished reading this book this morning. And u can now completely understand what you must have felt, coz I probably felt the similar overwhelming emotion. This book has so far been the one, I think after train to Pakistan (in my case(reading journey yet)) which has of course more than that just wrecked my soul, it's indeed heart- wrenching, it's gut- crushing! I just can't get over how much pain, disdain and adversities both laila and mariam had gone through and yes through them millions of women in Afghanistan. The only happy ending vibes were with the characters of tariq, laila and their children, otherwise it's a melancholic rollercoaster ride full of emotional breakdowns! Well, this was the first book of khaled hosseini, that I've read, I 'll surely look forward to read his other books, but i can bet no other will be more heart- rending than this❤( as for me maybe)

I totally understand the way you feel. Khaleed Hosseini has got a charm in his writing. The ending is so much heart wrenching and yet it's the best way this saga could have ended.
I read this masterpiece when i was in like, 9th grade, and boy that was a reality check, something of a shock, but I still felt so much heartache when i read it, sheesh

If anyone thinks that "A Thousand Splendid Suns" is great then they haven't read "The Radiance of a Thousand Suns" by Manreet Sodhi Someshwar (although it came in 2019 and might've been inspired by Khaled Husseini's work).

Khaled Hosseni is one of my favorite writers and this book is also among my favorites. It was so heartbreaking and sadly, this is the reality for many women. You must read his other books too esp Kite Runner.

Sea Prayer & And the mountains echoed. Sea Prayer is basically a long poem on refugee crisis which is very moving. You can finish it in half an hour. I have 'And the mountains echoed' since 3-4 years but read only 50-60 pages. After the high expectations set cos of his previous books, I just couldn't go on. However, I plan to read it soon. It may not be as good as Kite Runner and A thousand splendid suns but still worth a read.
