Lovely run, I was terrible at the game when it first came out. Such an eye opener. Thanks for the great video/walkthrough. Here's me helping you out since you requested it from another user a few posts down. 00:36 Starts the run (Cell Stage) 05:09 Start of Creature Stage 19:23 Start of Tribal Stage 31:30 Start of Civilization Stage 38:15 Start of Galaxy Stage 43:05 Talks about the run and why he makes the choice he makes from stage to stage. 50:13 Reaches the Center of the Universe 50:25 Starting End Game Cut Scene
Me after one hour: "Great, I've stopped being a fish, now I can get to the creature stage..." MEANWHILE THE OTHER CREATURE REACHES CENTER OF THE GALAXY
"Creativity" You deal spices and destroy planets. If you say it like that the only other option is: Dealing spices and not destroying planets. Much creativity I see
Maxime R I will admit I only gave the short and simple story; I'm a spice dealer that destroys planets, but since you want a more detailed version (btw I've done a lot since I wrote the last comment): The year is 33287 AGW (After Galactic Warfare). The Satomin Empire is one of the strongest races in the quadrant, though due to use of various forms of weaponized antimatter, it as lost many allies, and started war with the Oobergrowb Empire and the Stomachio Empire. The empire has had to fend off from the outer rim invaders for eons, and in order to get rid of these threats permanently, the Satomin have focused their efforts on 3 things: 1. Uplift civilizations to create a navy. 2.terraform unclaimed planets to make a more efficient economy. 3.improving relations with the old allies to create a tight seal on the quadrant. 1. It just so happened to be that there were 3 civilizations on the border between the core quadrant and the outer rim, still fighting over the planet's spice with no clear winners. I gave the planets the technology necessary to advance, but specifically to the warrior nations. This would allow for a fleet that prioritizes the destruction of the enemy. over time there empires would attack one of the old allies, the Wortgon, but they were already one of the strongest empires in the quadrant, so they could afford to lose some T1 planets while keeping their home-world well guarded. 2. While my navy kept my planets close to the rim well guarded, I focused my attention towards the south-west, outside the quadrant. I made a few allies, but also a few enemies. both were insignificant as the allies were to far away from the conflict to help, and the enemies to weak to successfully take my planets. the only things of importance were the planets I conquered, as it would extend the spice road that was made from the very start of the space age. 3. There were a few small warrior empires that didn't mind my rampant planet destruction, those being the Gnosh Empire and the Apex Empire (my first save for the game which, fun fact, created the ship that would become the to go ship when it comes to attacking a planet), but small empires with 3 planets wouldn't win me a galactic war, thus I had to re-forge the bonds broken forever ago. If I couldn't complete simple fetch quests then I wasn't a real spice dealer, going from one side of the galaxy to the other wasn't a problem for me, even if it was for something as simple as 3 llama statues. With all goals being met we started the offence. The Oobergrowb empire was wiped off the slate, with a full naval assault attacking them. After their downfall, we gave the Stomachio no time to prepare. These empires kept kicking the hornets nest, but with each kick gave the hornets a reason to grow stronger, so that, one day, they'd be strong enough to make a full assault on the attacker, so that no one would kick the nest again. The rim was ours. The empires have fallen. The War was over. So there you have it. long story short I trade spice and destroy empires.
+Bunny, if you ignore history and christian doctrines then yes, it is quite surprising that people think that christianity is anti-science/anti-evolution.
I always laugh when I hear the preaching of the religious vehicles. At one point it sounds like they're chanting "Seggfej! Seggfeeej!", which is Hungarian for "Asshat! Asshaaat!".
Here's a man guiding a fish to reach the center of a galaxy in 49 minutes, and here we are stuck on this planet for hundreds of thousands of years... (yes, I know the game's timescale measures in millions of years and that it is completely unrealistic especially in the space stage, but I thought this sounded funny in my head)
It's just that it's really hard to say anything anywhere online without someone taking it so literally and criticizing any dumb, little thing about it.
atur chomicz tbh Creature stage should be about becoming dominant species and spreading. Tribal should be developing farms, civilisation is fine except they shouldn’t go straight to tanks lol, go with soldiers first and slowly get more tech to get stuff like tanks. It’s 10 years old so a spore 2 should be much more improved. Also the cell stage could be more about science but that would bore the game out lol if we had to go through different oxygen levels or even other chemicals or you choose to base your cell on a different reaction.

One thing I noticed from personal experience recently is that if you're going to get the bones in the creature stage, click on them to interact with them from distance, and land directly on them without using the directional buttons, and thus cancelling the action, the animation for picking through them is skipped. could possibly help save a few seconds here and there. Don't know if it's known inside the speedrunning community since it wasn't used in this speedrun so I'm just leaving it here.
Yeah I've known about this. The same jumping effect before reaching a creature you're interacting with sometimes instantly fills your social meter. The issue is sometimes you can overshoot jumping onto the bones and waste more time.
Wow that's so cool. Like, when my sister bought me this game, this was the first open world - proceduraly generated game I played. Even if I did not even finish the game, that inspired me to play so much interesting games and actually become a developper. I've only been interested in speedrunning like 3 years ago, but I didn't even know some people were running this game. So many memories while looking at this run. Amazing, entertaining, and you FINISHED THE SHOW, NO MATTER WHAT !
haha glad you enjoyed. I'd put more time into this game in trying to get "All Badges" in the space stage in a single segment, but the first 30 hours alone would not even get close to the Destroy the Grox badge. I estimate around 72 hours conservatively to do that. But I hope to do it one day.
Wow that is a really tough challenge ! That would be amazing to catch on stream though, I just followed your channel so I can catch you running games anytime soon I hope (any game really, I do love your commentary) ;).
This is the only obstacle to running this game. Setting graphics cache to 512 MB helped a lot. I also have an SSD which helps, but the graphics cache has the biggest impact
That was fun to watch, i havent played the game in a while so it was really enjoyable, especially since i have nothing better to do since im off sick from school. Thanks for providing great entertainment ^.^ Great run!
If I fought the Civ stage with 1 type of vehicle, I would have to use maybe 1/3 max speed, and 1/3 max religious impression to fight all the time. It's faster to have a max speed vehicle for travel purposes, followed by a max religious power vehicle to quickly overcome the city.
Oh, that's interesting. I thought that changing the design of the vehicles doesn't affect the already existing ones and that the player has to rebuild them. Nice bit of info, thanks!
I never knew that this game had an Endgame. I was bouncing around from star to star for hours. I thought that once you got to the space age, that was it. It was procedural, and you keep going.
That's unfortunate. I really wish this game did a better job of making the endgame, the space stage, a little more interactive. Each stage tends to feel like a different game mode, rather than a piggy back of previous stages.
I have considered this before, but I would consider any possibility of this with a Sporecast to be a separate category (w/ Sporecast or something to that effect in the category name). If you were to do it, I would need insight as to whether what parts a creature has correlates to its ability to be Orange Faced (which appears to be random). Other than that, I could simply make a ton of 1-2 combat power creatures and just steam-roll the nests. The issue is, again, it'd be its own category to force the Sporecast into the file settings.
I do, however, notice that basically everything is your own creature during this speedrun. Since the game's save files do affect one another, doesn't any non-fresh gameplay count as NG+?
row couldn't you try to flood the pool of possible creatures with a bunch of really shitty ones by making a bunch in the creature creator. Like thousands of save files of terrible creatures that you can just tear through really easily. Is it completely random how many creatures are Maxis and how many are your own? Or is there some kind of quota for how many need to be stock and how many can be yours?
Until there's some fun glitch that makes Creature Stage trivial/consistent, or Super Swim becomes a fun and easy glitch setup for Cell Stage, it's unlikely this game will draw enough attention.
Oh my god, there's actually people speedrunning this game??? Actually, I don't know why I'm so surprised... I wonder, how many times has the game crashed on you while attempting a run lol
ive never seen a speedrun of this. but this is one of my favorite games of all time so its really fun to see someone exploit it/go as fast as possible (me im a take my time kind of guy)
Hey does anyone know how to make the Spore picture in his description? And what an awesome speedrun! I really enjoyed spore when it came out! and this video brings back some awesome memories!
Hey mate if you press the home key on the key pad when you select a ship or building it selects the first one really fast and you can't enter just as fast it at least saves you a second or two. Also nice run I hope you don many more like these :D. And I don't know why I haven't seen this sooner I only started watching speed runs last year but I should have seen this right away but sadly I didn't. Cheers mate.
There's a glitch that always works in my game where if you click on a fruit that is far away that your creature would be able to reach, then you jump directly after clicking, the creature just automatically teleports the fruit to its mouth
WHAT? I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE IT JESUS CHRIST, I speedrunned spore for a couple of times myself and i couldn't get less then 2-3 days, i didn't think this was possible
I saw a useful glitch in the late creature stage, but I am not sure how to get it reliably. It lets you have, like, double the allies, and they carry over as pets in the tribal stage. I don’t recall whether this ups egg production, but they are also useful for defense, and might be butchered for food.
Narotiza actually encounters the glitch in his Spore let’s play (Playing Spore as a pitiful worm). ruclips.net/video/txKxqNpsKlA/видео.html Sadly it is rather unclear what happened, as he is playing eyeless.
This might not be best for speedrunning idk I have no experience in such but In my opinion omnivore is the best route starting creature stage because it gives you the summon flock ability which can severely tip things in your favor no matter what you go for. I have tamed rouges as a level one with that ability. But then you want friendly religious and zealot for the future stages so that may mess up your archetype.... Oh well. Good job on the run man.
How do you do the limb glitch when you’re evolving from cell to creature ?? Where you buy the legs and manipulate them to create one set of arms while maintaining legs
row damn, okay. thank you! This is the video that got me into speed running in the first place, you’re a huge inspiration to me! Keep up the good work!
You know, the variety of attacks that an epic in Spore can use, is, like with anyother creature, determined by its parts. You could essentially debilitate the epics by making a lot of limbless carnivours that only have bite.
The game randomly picks a creature to make epic based on your creature library, but it artificially increases the chances of carnivours, while lowering those of herbivores. This might require you to play offline.
It adds a little damage, esp with multiple allies, but pollutes the part-drop pool with more spit (similar to the wings being added to the list of parts that can be earned). Also I have no way to confirm if this works but I've had teammates kill a rogue, and I got no DNA from it. I wonder if the same might happen if a teammate snipes it
Lovely run, I was terrible at the game when it first came out. Such an eye opener. Thanks for the great video/walkthrough.
Here's me helping you out since you requested it from another user a few posts down.

Thanks
Does he still do speedruns of spore?
he is on "easy mode"
?
Takes me 50 minutes to create a character...
True, hahaha
Lol
Me after one hour: "Great, I've stopped being a fish, now I can get to the creature stage..."
MEANWHILE THE OTHER CREATURE REACHES CENTER OF THE GALAXY
I did it in less than 8 minutes. Speedrunner confirmed.
yeah sure
yeah sure x2
yeah sure x3
yeah sure x4
What a savage organism, speedrunning it's evolution process.
Imagine Snails doin this Evolution atm, in 30 minutes we are swiped.
when you play this game for months as a kid and Jesus beats it under an hour.
I have rithorical quetion
How can great SPODE beat this?
What took me so long was the space stage. Most boring stage, I basically just stopped playing and tried to find some fun aspect of it when I did play.
it can be fun if you have creativity. My race is a spice dealing empire that destroys planets.
"Creativity" You deal spices and destroy planets.

it's funny how Jesus is playing a game about evolution.
why is it funny?
because jesus made the humans duh
After all the trouble his father put him through, Jesus became atheist.
it's funny how christianity is apparently anti-science/anti-evolution
+Bunny, if you ignore history and christian doctrines then yes, it is quite surprising that people think that christianity is anti-science/anti-evolution.
I always laugh when I hear the preaching of the religious vehicles. At one point it sounds like they're chanting "Seggfej! Seggfeeej!", which is Hungarian for "Asshat! Asshaaat!".
András Fogarasi really?
Seggfej
Damn, thats like, years and years of my childhood in less than an hour
Mister Man Person Sir same
"he died so i can grab his meat". Is that legal?..
Great work anyway dude.
In arabia?
schtaman no
Polar Eclipse i will make it legal
tribal stage was my fav tbh. always found it cool that u had the option to jam out wit da boys
Omg someone still plays spore this is so happy
me 2
me too
me 2
I still play it in my free time. It’s fun never ends
I love it a lot but it isn't a good game, I just wish there was a game like it y'know going from a cell to galactic empire.
When you grew up playing spore but couldn’t beat that fucking space stage and some speed runner beats it 20 minutes 😤
Maddog i didn't even know you can end spore😢
Me neither xD all i saw was the progress at the bottom that gave me some kind of hope
LOOSERS! I created wonderful empire XD
Maddog i keep crashing on space stage and the game doesnt autosave.
Maddog you guys have to defeat the grox
Here's a man guiding a fish to reach the center of a galaxy in 49 minutes, and here we are stuck on this planet for hundreds of thousands of years...
(yes, I know the game's timescale measures in millions of years and that it is completely unrealistic especially in the space stage, but I thought this sounded funny in my head)
Yeah and it's funny! no need to explain your joke man xD
It's just that it's really hard to say anything anywhere online without someone taking it so literally and criticizing any dumb, little thing about it.
true! that's the internet in a nutshell
but we were already on a moon once and we have a space station set up so I wouldnt say that we are stuck on this planet
atur chomicz tbh Creature stage should be about becoming dominant species and spreading. this tribal mans death contributed to conquering of the universe by his species
Lol he did it and hasn't used any glitches. This actually looks like walkthrough.
Arstotzka Empire you're invited to help us find sequence breaks if you feel that strongly about this run
No, one glitch is used. On civilization stage he uses glitch with change of tank. This is bug from game
That isn't a glitch, it's a game feature
Glory to Arstotzka.

I see. Well, it was my first time watching a Spore speedrun, so I didn't know if anyone was aware. But still, good run.
Wow that's so cool. Like, when my sister bought me this game, this was the first open world - proceduraly generated game I played. Even if I did not even finish the game, that inspired me to play so much interesting games and actually become a developper.

Okay i didnt know that this game had an ending :D
Neddier hahahah ikr
This game haven't got an ending, you still can play for your captain
i always look up at speedrunner. such majectic creatures. i learn a lot from them.
*When the most advanced being in the galaxy is a dwarf velociraptor with wings wearing tophats over their nostrils.*
I like how this is a game that’s not meant to be speed run but a speed runner has done it
Speedrunners will find a way!
this mans final words will be "i would have saved so much time if i had got the points for that rouge"
"WE FINISH THE SHOW!"
I want to start playing now, that whole part had me in stitches!
Fighting Epics is practically impossible, requires cheesing it with Spit in Creature Stage. Avoid at all costs!!
this game is my childhood and this video inspired me to play it again
Four and a half minute cell stage is totally bizarre.
30:44 SHOW MUST GO ON!
Dude, in the creature stage, those things look like stuff you'd see in nightmares
this is what peak performance looks like
30:44 is best part, lol! xD
THE SHOW MUST GO ON GODDAMMIT!
WE FINISH THE SHOW
_WE FINISH THE SHOW_
NO MATTER WHAT WE FINISH THE SHOW !
I was super disappointed when I actually went to the third rock from Sol. It's got all the continents, but no life and no timeshares.
That's why I seed human creatures in every game.
"Honey, are you ready to go out for dinner?" "Yeah hold up, just let me develop and evolve my seed over a millennia to conquer the galaxy real quick"
Very well done, one of my favorite childhood games. Im proud of you!
BibleThump 7 *"The show must go ON!"*
no matter how long you've played a game for there is some mofo played it in under an hour
you have to play this fast or else the game will crash lmaoooo
The most unbelievable part of this run is that the game didn't crash.
Row row row your boat
Gently down the stream
merrily merrily merrily
life is just a dream
I don't get why do you keep changing the vehicles in the civ stage before taking over a city?
If I fought the Civ stage with 1 type of vehicle, I would have to use maybe 1/3 max speed, and 1/3 max religious impression to fight all the time. It's faster to have a max speed vehicle for travel purposes, followed by a max religious power vehicle to quickly overcome the city.
Oh, that's interesting. I thought that changing the design of the vehicles doesn't affect the already existing ones and that the player has to rebuild them. Nice bit of info, thanks!
Cost us the run, cost us the run, man that cost us the run. Well that was still a respectable stage, I'm not upset. LOL love that.
you blink with one eye at 42:03
Haha, thats true!
That's called winking
He didn't want to waste a second of good vision right there.
Haha technically that's what I do when I start to go for a squint. Looks so bad
Now the real question is, how the fuck did you notice something like that?
I dunno why this was recommended to me just now but I god damn loved spore and seeing this made me happy.
Other people are out there speedrunning Super Meat Boy and Kaizo, but here's a real man playing a real game. Fucking legendary hahahaha
Fucking awesome run to look at. I love the RNG-heavy ones, especially when they go well.
I never knew that this game had an Endgame. I was bouncing around from star to star for hours. I thought that once you got to the space age, that was it. It was procedural, and you keep going.
That's unfortunate. I really wish this game did a better job of making the endgame, the space stage, a little more interactive. Each stage tends to feel like a different game mode, rather than a piggy back of previous stages.
is it possible to manipulate the creature pool to improve creature stage rng?
It's inevitable what creatures will appear because of your friends and own creations, but it's still RNG which ones will appear.
row couldn't you try to flood the pool of possible creatures with a bunch of really shitty ones by making a bunch in the creature creator. Like thousands of save files of terrible creatures that you can just tear through really easily.
Is it completely random how many creatures are Maxis and how many are your own? Or is there some kind of quota for how many need to be stock and how many can be yours?
"I wanted to grab that meat"
-row 2016
we did it.... we found the last living dinosaur....
and it plays spore
I found someone else
IT'S ME
Good choice, dinosaur.
I still play, too. In fact, I've been uploading videos of it for the past week.
Spore for GDQ 2019!
Until there's some fun glitch that makes Creature Stage trivial/consistent, or Super Swim becomes a fun and easy glitch setup for Cell Stage, it's unlikely this game will draw enough attention.
Awesome job man. I was on the edge of my seat at the end! Come oooonnnn!
I love this game.
U didnt care about ur creature's looks at all yet it still turned out pretty cute
Row: Finishes whole game in less then 1hr.
Me: Still designing my fish creature with it's 1st legs for over an hour.
Oh my god, there's actually people speedrunning this game??? Actually, I don't know why I'm so surprised... I wonder, how many times has the game crashed on you while attempting a run lol
ikr spore is soooooooo glitchy and crashy
has not crashed once on me
I've never had it crash on me.
I'm just playing it again and it crashes constantly, i've played it for 3 days now and around 10 crashes.
werid, never crashed on me.
:O someones actually speedrunning Spore. I loved this game when I was younger:D
ive never seen a speedrun of this. but this is one of my favorite games of all time so its really fun to see someone exploit it/go as fast as possible (me im a take my time kind of guy)
10 year old me who could never get past tribal stage is seething with jealousy rn
Such an amazing run and such a beautiful game full of imaginations and happiness :)
amazing to see daron malakian beat spore so quick!
Hey does anyone know how to make the Spore picture in his description? And what an awesome speedrun! I really enjoyed spore when it came out! and this video brings back some awesome memories!
someone still play spore! 0_0
Yes :D
If the computer stil works
i also still play it :) i love spore! one of my all time fav games!
I would've never guessed.
Spore is a amazing game.
Cheers mate.
should this run be renamed to steve%? since it's a race to steve?
There's a glitch that always works in my game where if you click on a fruit that is far away that your creature would be able to reach, then you jump directly after clicking, the creature just automatically teleports the fruit to its mouth
didn't know ppl speedran this game lol, thanks for the nostalgia
WHAT? I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE IT JESUS CHRIST, I speedrunned spore for a couple of times myself and i couldn't get less then 2-3 days, i didn't think this was possible
The nostalgia is strong with this one.
And here i am sitting in space stage for 14 days when he passed it in like 14 minutes lol
Can't believe this is a thing, lol. Really cool run.
Did a cell just fuckin conquered it’s entire world In less than half hour
I spent 4 years trying to kill the grox, i thought that was what you had to do, i conquered 8 solar systems... YAY
Omg finally i am able to see the ending of this game, i never went very far in the space stage when i was a kiddo. This is fine
Takes me four hours to get to space. Takes you one hour to win. GG
30:44
*_NO MATTER WHAT THE SHOW MUST GO ON_*
watching and listening to this guy in space... he really needs to increase his scroll sensitivity
This is how I'm spending my Friday night.
"This is the run. Confirmed."
BAZIKNA FLURG NURG
*Footage of creature evolving from monolith*
Cool video, might check this game out, thanks!
I never made it past the civilization stage, using your vid to help me
I saw a useful glitch in the late creature stage, but I am not sure how to get it reliably.
It lets you have, like, double the allies, and they carry over as pets in the tribal stage. I don’t recall whether this ups egg production, but they are also useful for defense, and might be butchered for food.
There tend to be a lot of glitches but 0 explanation, or little consistency in this game. Would love to see it actually
Narotiza actually encounters the glitch in his Spore let’s play (Playing Spore as a pitiful worm). ruclips.net/video/txKxqNpsKlA/видео.html
Sadly it is rather unclear what happened, as he is playing eyeless.
It's only because Great SPODE had through him...
Only jerks play as traiders
great man you are hero , i watch all video , i love spore and speedruns
The Spore ending is so trippy
How do you do the limb glitch when you’re evolving from cell to creature ?? Where you buy the legs and manipulate them to create one set of arms while maintaining legs
Not a glitch, intended editor command. Control click separates limbs, alt click duplicates parts, etc.
row damn, okay. thank you! This is the video that got me into speed running in the first place, you’re a huge inspiration to me! Keep up the good work!
I never thought of someone speed running spore
The show MUST GO ON
OMG, they really finished the show at all cost xD
You know, the variety of attacks that an epic in Spore can use, is, like with anyother creature, determined by its parts.
You could essentially debilitate the epics by making a lot of limbless carnivours that only have bite.
The game randomly picks a creature to make epic based on your creature library, but it artificially increases the chances of carnivours, while lowering those of herbivores.
This might require you to play offline.
Epics waste time in a speedrun setting. Also the NG+ category requires "Vanilla" creatures from Maxis, and no others
row Damn
is this still on easy difficulty?
"WE FINISH THE SHOW!"
how in tribal stage though ? in my game a full tribe of instramentors is sometimes not enogfh if the crowd is bad
Why not use the spit ability?
Wouldn’t it increase DPS, or does it impact the enemies strength?
It adds a little damage, esp with multiple allies, but pollutes the part-drop pool with more spit (similar to the wings being added to the list of parts that can be earned). Also I have no way to confirm if this works but I've had teammates kill a rogue, and I got no DNA from it. I wonder if the same might happen if a teammate snipes it
What's impressive is that the game didn't crash at all.
me, finishing spore in a week: I’m really proud of my ru-
HYPE! Gratz, man! :D
You didn't get the points for killing the rogue because you started attacking another species and your mission was changed.
Hell damn ,Good speedrun dude .Dat luck ^^ .
this guy looks like jesus helping papa debug
This is the most violent game in the world.
Did you never play Undertale?
