You can deploy other codes (e.g. Google Analytics, Meta pixel etc) outside of Google Tag Manager but installing only GTM and then running all your other pixel codes through it is cleaner and easier ... it's also a great solution if you have to do something like partner with a web developer as a marketing freelancer/agency so you don't have to keep asking them for more input. In some instances, e.g. if using Shopify, it might make more sense just to use the in-built integrations with things like Meta Pixel and Google Analytics (and then use GTM, if needed, to enable more specific event tracking through precise triggers like submitting forms) but for 90% of the projects i work on it makes the most sense to use Google Tag Manager.
