One of the best chess videos on RUclips. Some wild, edge of the seat chess - I can't remember ever seeing a more exciting sequence of games - but right in the thick of the live action, Simon keeps up a wonderfully instructive and insightful commentary on the play as it unfolds - with occasional asides on whisky and a number of other matters. He is one of the best teachers in chess - Simon is a phenomenon and a national treasure. Entertaining, hilarious and instructive. Brilliant.
I’m here because Arry the Pawn is already helping me defend the centre after seeing the first few moments of your Name Your Pawns series. Thanks, can’t believe I let so many bishops in before.
That's mate in 2, lol, how couldn't you see it for so long? Or I did not notice something myself... Edit: ok, someone noticed in the chat, quite funny one
@GingerGM... simon thank you for selecting me, what telegram are u referring too? i have clicked on stuff but cant seem to find what you are referring too
Asa Hoffmann was born in 1943, just like Bobby Fischer and was indeed a mate of Fischer, having beaten him in a very famous blitz game!
ergo gingergm is better than bobby fischer.

Second game is against Asa Hoffmann, veteran of the New York chess scene who played against Fisher etc.

Lol this reads like a movie review. I agree completely!
GingerGM is easily my favourite GM to watch and learn chess from... The explanations and style really clicks for me! Long may it continue :)
I'm glad that this is and hour thirty long. With the title I was worried that he rage quit after the first game, lol.
Wow. Really cool, you played the NYC Chess legend Asa Hoffmann. His memoir came out this year, and it's a really fun read.
yesssss thanks for uploading these streams to RUclips, love them!
So glad to see you back, Simon!!! I missed your videos!

17:00 - final position. I never saw the following Checkmate Pattern - one rook on b7, the other on b6. Learning from the masters. Good Game!
How does he not know NYC legend Asa Hoffman? He beat Fischer in an Evans Gambit with a novelty at the time.
Your Awesome Simon !!!🙏🙏

Hilarious first game! I gotta learn the Dutch.
That itnro is the strangest one I've seen in the chess world, that's for sure.
Just published a book about his life playing chess in NYC !!

Kraken is terrible spiced rum. Pales in comparison to a great scotch
I will buy you a nice bottle of sipping rum one day and change your mind.
g'day mate
Slàinte Mhath!
Simon, try Duck-Chess variant. Quack a duck. Best!
...with really...
As always, you get a strong position and then fall apart with reply mediocre play.
