I will never forget Miami Vice, Police Academy, American Ninja, Rambo 2, Beverly Hills Cop 1, Bloodsport, Jackie Chan, Phil Collins, the beginning of Hip Hop, the 1986 World Cup with Maradona, the comic books Marvel, DC...a time with no smartphone, no social media influencers. I am glad I was alive to see it, and live through it.
I feel like the corporatization of the entire internet and the politicization of literally everything in our lives turned the world into a state that's almost locked in cultural stasis. Music, movies and tv etc have all not just been basically the same for the last 20 years, but in fact a lot of it actually is just the same stuff! We have no culture anymore, no real soulful art, just corporate "content", endlessly regurgitated mind distraction fodder and style over substance gumpf all churned out to the same templates too.
i KNOW. I can still see and remember everything like it was just 10 or 15 years ago. I still watch all 80s Christmas TV ADs from here and all over the country including Canada. I still play 80s music along with the new material of today. I was a great decade. That's one thing I love about the sitcom Psych. They always celebrate the 80s from the opening scene.

The 80s feels more like a movie that plays over and over in my head than an actual place in time. I consider it both a blessing and a curse to be an 80s kid.
I used to think the 80s was not all that wonderful, but now, in retrospect, it was a helluva lot better than the 2020s are. Homelessness, insane amounts of greed (so bad that people believe communism is a good idea), crazy interest rates, massive barriers to job market entry, people losing homes after paying for them for decades, housing costing 2/3rd actual income levels (especially rent), so many ridiculous laws and rules (can't walk down the street without committing some sort of victimless crime), extreme violence and "Karens" everywhere, and a new generation that's prejudice to an extreme (there's always been some racial prejudice, but I don't recall people going on murder rampages on the sole basis of skin color, religious preferences, etc), having to jump through hoops just to get a place to live, gentrification out the wazoo, and more. Let's not forget that most of society is now on psychotropics (and the obesity epidemic from anti-depressants, nutrient-free food, and super-sized food/drinks, is out of control). The future dystopian warnings of the 1980s have all come true and the system is wrapped up in clear, sterile, plastic packaging, marketed at every turn, and controlled by parasitic psychopaths calling themselves "elite".
I wasn't even alive in the 80's... yet I somehow still miss it. 80's has a special place in my heart. The fashion, synthesizers, the overall vibe was much better than any other decade. Humankind was still discovering most things we are accustomed to nowadays. Humans in general had morals and values, which sadly diminished over the years. Anyway, enough ranting. 80's forever!
See the music has that effect I love 80's music the lyrical content was way better. I listened to the Dababy yesterday and his song shake something was like bitch bitch bitch lol. I'm good I'll stick to Vaporwave.
Morals? Sure, from the decade of "greed is good". I agree we have a severe lack of values today but I'm not sure the '80s was a poster child for good values. 😂
I lived and experienced the 80's in full lenght which made me an old man today. But I don't feel old if someone from a younger generation shows his appreciation to this long gone era. Thank you.
I was very much alive in the 80's and while I harbor nostalgic feelings for the time period, I am not ignorant to the lack of morals and values of the time. Things were not so great, it's just that as kids and teens WE weren't facing the issues head on, our parents were. What has happened over the years is a flashlight has been shed on those who operated without morals and ethics in the 80's and even decades before.
I have an Audi Coupe 1984. At night, after work i drive through the city to my home, and im listening retrowave and synthwave. At that time I am in 80-s, in Vice City (Miami)

Miami Vice.....the Lambo....Everything pink and purple...a time like no other....Love it brother keep up the good work....I can see Crockett and Tubs cruising in the black Ferrari
I’m in my mid 20s here in Miami but old school myself. All of my friends are old men already and a lot of them were heavy hitters back in the day. The 80s is what started serious movement in Miami.

80s. Moved to NYc. Crack & AIDs& emptied out mental institutions - and yet I still miss the steamy macrobiotic cafes, the high quality of clothes, Patti Smith, mergers&aquisitions, street guys spraying the car with shaving cream to 'clean the windsheild', when at my job, the worst crime on Wall St. was insider trading, as opposed to planes crashes into the towers. I think I worked too much in the 80s!
This playlist has a bit of a Jan Hammer "Miami Vice" feel to it. I could see Crockett and Tubbs cruising along in the Testarossa on a warm Miami night on their way to bust some big Columbian drug lord with this playing in the background. This very lucky child of the 80's approves!
This playlist has quickly become my favorite Synthwave video on RUclips. - I am bewildered at how your music is free of copyright, as I perceive talent and dedication in each track's making. - Thank you Karl Casey, and I am keenly paying attention now!
Same! it's quite lenient. If I ever make a video game (that's what I do) and use this music I'll definitely be contacting this person for a proper remuneration. Such hard work can't go unrewarded
Should I be concerned that my memories of 80s movies are slowly being replaced by very convincing Key & Peele parodies of 80s movies? This video immediately reminds me of Detective Key screaming a desperate "Noooooo!!!" into the sky.
Thank you so much man, i just want you know there are people on the globe that truly cherish your efforts. Greetings to you from Saudi Arabia brother❤️🇸🇦.
Due to copyrigth issues, free copyrigth music like this is the only way for streamers like me to promote a good enviroment in my streams, and White Bat Audio is the channel I mostly use as background music for my work. I also realized there are other streamers doing the same since I recognize such songs on their streams - adicionally, the music is awesome since I love the 80s! This channel deserves more recognition, not only due to the fact that it provides literally FREE MUSIC to ANY STREAMER (which itself is a big deal in the streaming world) but also because the music is good! Honestly sometimes I forget about crediting this channel (due to being sometimes late for the streams and need to start them in a rush) but from now one I will keep that in mind more often, this channel deserves it, and it's resposible for some memorable moments in my streams - thank you Karl Casey @ White Bat Audio!
I LOVE the 1980s. The movies, music, cars, stylish clothes, VHS tapes, Cassette tapes and my favorite, Synthesizers! It's surprising because I wasn't even close to being born yet.
Thank you so much for sharing this incredible playlist! Every track feels perfectly chosen, and it’s been such a joy to listen to. The flow of the music is spot on, and it’s clear you put a lot of thought into curating it. I can’t wait to play it on repeat! 🎶🙌
The track 'Black Rainbows' while excellent, has some synths very similar to the great but bizarre movie 'Beyond the Black Rainbow, 'Home' has some shades of Clint Mansell, 'Act lll' sounds like Kumite from Bloodsport, 'Androids and Sentient Beings', has those riffs from 'Public Image Order of Death', but then tracks like 'Neon Glow', 'Floating', 'The Traveler', 'Impala', 'Vice', 'Rendezvous', 'The Call', 'Neon Breeze', are all so beautiful, surreal and original that i do not know where you delved to in order to create these melodies. This is Gold.

hell some of the stuff from the 90 and early 2000s seems like yesterday sometimes lol.
Feeling old? Jurassic Park came out 20 years ago.
It's scary to think that distance between now and the 80s today, is the same as the 80s and the 40s (WW2!). It only feels like yesterday.
The late 80's, early 90's was peak America. We will never have it again.
Good :)
Sadly! It was perfect!!!
This has made going through spreadsheets all day feel like I'm in an 80's movie montage. Love it
